DAVID E. PERRY
STERLING - David E. Perry, 32, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at his residence.
He was a salesman for Sunbeam Bread.
David was born April 4, 1973 in Sterling, the son of Creighton and Betty (Jones) Perry. He served in the United States Marines from 1992-1996. He married Kathleen M. Miller on June 19, 1998 in Sterling. She survives.
Survivors include a daughter, Alexandria Nicole Perry, at home; his parents Creighton and Betty Perry of Sterling; maternal grandparents, Lois and Tom Regalado of Sterling; and one sister, Mercy Brown of Chicago.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Monday September 19, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with the Reverend April Stewart of Rock Falls Christian Church, Rock Falls, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the funeral home.

MARIBETH ZIMMERMAN
ROCK FALLS - Maribeth Zimmerman, 56, went home to be with her Savior, surrounded by her family, as they sang her favorite hymns, Thursday, September 8, 2005 at her home. She was an Elementary Teacher for Christian Schools, in California, and later tutored children with special needs.
Maribeth was born March 18, 1949 in New York, NY, the daughter of John and Mary Eva (Smith) Alexander. She married David Lee Zimmerman on August 14, 1976 in San Leandro, CA. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Rock Falls.
She was the devoted wife of David Lee Zimmerman; caring mother of Sarah (Andy) Pearson of Rock Falls and Hannah Zimmerman of Rock Falls; loving sister of Janet Alexander of Aptos, CA, John (Cheryl) Alexander of Vancouver, BC, Canada, Geoffrey (Judy) Alexander of Soquel, CA, Michael (Cindy) Alexander of Palo Alto, CA, and Richard (Pam) Alexander of S. Lake Tahoe, CA; and several nieces and nephews; she will also be missed by Sugar her cat.
Services will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Berean Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Carlson of Berean Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 11AM - 12 PM, Saturday, prior to services at the church.

Gene L. Young
Sterling - Gene L. Young, 53, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN after a short illness. He was employed as a steel worker for NWSW and Sterling Steel.
Mr. Young was born January 22, 1952 in Sterling, IL, the son of Elmer and Alice LaVonne (Hurley) Young. He married Barbara L. Parker on August 7, 1982 in Rock Falls. He was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed reading, playing cards, Trivial Pursuit, spending time with his children and grandchildren and, most of all, helping others.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Christie (Gary) Judd, Deanna (Scott Yingling) Barkley both of Milledgeville; one son, Andrew Young at home; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Roger) King of Rockford; six grandchildren, Christian Barkley, Thane Yingling, Carol Yingling, Ainsley Yingling, all of Milledgeville, Kayla Mathews, Kursten Smith of Rockford; two step-grandchildren, Josh Judd, Derek Koser, both of Fulton; his parents, Elmer and LaVonne Young of Sterling; two brothers, Elmer (Colleen) Young of Portage, MI, John "Jack" Young of Sterling; his mother-in-law, Donna Willhite of Rock Falls; six sisters-in-law, Sue Gray of Dixon, Sandi (Danny) Ivey of Sterling, Linda (Spike) Nelson of Lincoln, NE, Connie Parker of Cloquet, MN, Beulah Young of Carterville, IL, Dianna Adams Conkling of Dixon; special friends, Harry and Michelle Berogan of Sterling; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rob Smith, two brothers, Richard Young, Roger Young and a brother-in-law, Mike Gray.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 12, 2005 at Schilling Funeral Home with Dalmus Meeks, Pastor of Harvest Time Bible Church officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Sunday, September 11th at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.

Christopher L. Baker
DIXON - Christopher L. Baker, 32, died Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at his home. He was a Horticulturalist for Northern Illinois University, DeKalb.
Christopher was born June 26, 1973 in Sterling, the Son of Carthel and Kathleen (Shaw) Baker.
Survivors are his father, Carthel Baker of Rock Falls; a sister, Pam (Ellsworth) Wolf of Joliet; four brothers, Randy Baker of Byron, Davis Baker of Rock Falls, Tim (Lanette) Baker of Sterling, Kelly (Teresa) Baker of Dixon and many much loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother in June, 2003.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 9, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home with Bishop Dale Druien of Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be 6-8, Friday, September 9th at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
A memorial has been established.

MARIAN A. WICK
Marian A. Wick died Friday September 2, 2005, at CGH Medical Center. She was employed by National Manufacturing as a payroll clerk for twenty-two years, prior to retiring.
Marian was born in Rock Falls, the daughter of Fredrick and Pauline L. (Kohl-Hoffmiller) Reinhart. She married Robert E. “Shakey” Wick on July 6, 1946 in Rock Falls. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1983. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, Sterling American Legion Auxiliary and Rock Falls Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy (Mike) Fenton of Sterling and Diana Percycoe of Holmes Beach, FL; one sister Mildred (Robert) Gaumer, Sr. of Sterling; four grandchildren, Rick Percycoe, Lisa Percycoe, Bethany (Jason Hall) Fenton and Nathan (Leslie) Fenton; one great grandchild; Ketcher Fenton and special friends, Sharon Rodgers and Kelly and Dee Meier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Doris Sucher-Wells and JoAnne Aggen and two brothers Bud and Paul Reinhart.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Elizabeth Marita Alber
Elizabeth Marita Alber, 82, died Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Coventry Village. She was a hair stylist and operated a beauty shop in her home.
Mrs. Alber was born October 22, 1922 in Somerville, MA, the daughter of Elwood Lewis and Elizabeth L. (Coughlin) Clifford. She married Ralph F. Alber on November 2, 1947 in Somerville, MA. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1999.
Survivors are one daughter, Debra (Andrew) Shepherd; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 at the First Congregational Church UCC, Sterling. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Thursday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.

Thomas L. Keeney
Thomas L. Keeney, 85, died Saturday, August 27, 2005 at CGH Medical Center. He was owner of Tom Keeney Insurance Agency for 53 years in the Sterling-Rock Falls area.
Thomas L. Keeney was born December 11, 1919 in Neponset, the son of Lawrence and Mattie Neal Keeney.He married Loraine Johnson on November 21, 1947 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2004. He served in the United States Air Corp during WWII in Australia. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Sterling; a 53 year member of Rock Falls Rotary Club with 42 years of perfect attendance; Board Member of the Sterling-Rock Falls Community Trust; 18 year Board Member of Rock Falls National Bank; and past-Chairman of United Way. He was a member and past-President of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors. He also was a Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table.
Survivors are one niece, Marilyn DeClercq of East Moline; two nephews, Donald (Dianna) DeClercq of Kewanee and Ronald (Denise) Whitman of Johnston, IA, two great-nieces, Jacqueline DeClercq of Sterling and Jennifer Dykeman, FL.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Glenn Mensing of First Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Sterling with military rites. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, August 30 at the Schilling Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to the Rotary International.

Harriet May Itnyre
Polo - Harriet May Itnyre, 97, died Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Polo Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Mrs. Itnyre was born July 10, 1908 in Sterling, the daughter of Charles O. and Addie T. (Olds) Grimes, Sr. She married Ralph P. Itnyre on March 3, 1934 in Aurora. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1990.
Survivors are a sister, Nellie (Mason) Deets of Sterling; a brother, Charles O. Grimes of Fulton; one grandson; one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Itnyre.
Services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, August 29, 2005 at Brookville Grace United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Hayes officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Sunday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.

Juanita J. Prescott
Juanita Prescott, of Sterling, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at CGH Medical Center after an extended illness. born in Beloit, WI, on June 17, 1930, she lived most of her life in the Sterling/Rock Falls area.
In 1962, she and her husband, Richard, started the Richard J. Prescott Construction Company. She served as secretary-treasurer of that company, as well as, for Associated Asphalt, Parkway Center, and Prescott Development. She was a partner in the Prescott Partnership, which included the Parkway Apartments and Prescott Farms. In 1987, she and Richard opened the Parkway Retirement Center in Sterling.
She was involved in numerous civic organizations. She served for many years on the board of Sauk Valley College and was a past chairperson of that board. She was a past president of Sauk Valley College Foundation. In 1997, she and Richard made a founding grant to establish the Prescott Dental Clinic, which provides dental care for low income families in the area.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by her three children; Kathleen (Dan) Moskowitz of Benicia, CA, Vicki (Paul Couch) Prescott of Rochester, NY, Richard G. (Leontine) Prescott of Leiden, the Netherlands; five grandchildren, Andrew Moskowitz, Jonathan Moskowitz, Alexander Prescott-Couch, Timothy Prescott, Quincy Prescott; two sisters, Phyllis (Jerry) Mach, Evelyn (Jim) Cain; two brothers, Frank (Lois) Grove, Morris Grove; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Juanita Prescott Sauk Valley Scholarship Fund, in care of the Community Trust of Sterling/Rock Falls, PO Box 1000, Sterling or to the Prescott Dental Clinic through the CGH Health Foundation, 100 East LeFevre Road, Sterling.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 29, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home with burial at the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 PM, Sunday at the Funeral Home.

Bernice I. Halliday
Sterling - Bernice I. Halliday, 89, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Coventry Village. She was employed at National Mfg. for a number of years.
Mrs. Halliday was born August 26, 1915 in Amboy, the daughter of Ward Oliver and Irma (Petty) Taylor. She married Harold Halliday September 25, 1948. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1997. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors are a daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Coats; two sons, Richard (Elda) Dahlquist, Steve Halliday; a brother, Oliver Taylor; a sister-in-law, Marie Taylor; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Leo Patterson officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be 10-11 AM, Friday at the Church.

Benito Gonzalez
Our Beloved Benito Gonzalez, 76, was called home on Monday, August 22, 2005. He was employed as a taxicab driver in Chicago before coming to Sterling.
Mr. Gonzalez was born May 29, 1929 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, the son of Joaquin and Julia (Alvarez) Gonzalez. He married Esperanza Oquendo in Chicago.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Julia (Nelson) Rivera of Sterling, Nilda (Oscar) Bosch of Chicago, Rosa (Felix) Oquendo of Cicero; six sons, Louis Gonzalez of Hollywood, FL, Wilfredo (Margarita) Gonzalez of Puerto Rico, William (Carmen) Gonzalez of Sterling, Joaquin Gonzalez, Camilo Gonzalez, Benito Gonzalez, all of Dixon; two sisters, Amparo Gonzalez, Esther Gonzalez, both of Puerto Rico; four brothers, Mariano Gonzalez, Angel Gonzalez, Harold Gonzalez, all of Puerto Rico and Upiano Gonzalez of Michigan; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 9 brothers.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 25, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be 5-8, Tuesday, August 23rd and 5-8, Wednesday, August 24th at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, IL.
