RICKY A. WEINBERG

Ricky Arthur Weinberg, 54, of Champaign, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, of a massive heart attack.
He was born Feb. 25, 1949, in LaHarpe, the son of Samuel A. and Donna M. Perry Weinberg. He married
Peggy R. Bright on June 23, 1973, in Princeton.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; his mother of Macomb; one daughter, Lindsay M. Weinberg; one son, Brent A. Weinberg, both of Champaign; one sister, Carol A. Kendrick of Muskegon, Mich.; and one brother, Randall A. Weinberg of Bushnell.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He was educated in the Carthage schools, graduating in the class of 1967. He received a degree from the Institute of Aviation and bachelor and master degrees in education and business administration from the University of Illinois. At the time of his death, he was Chief Pilot of the Professional Pilot Division of the University of Illinois Institute of Aviation, having been with the Institute for over 30 years. He was a member of Twin City Bible Church in Urbana, having served in many capacities. He was also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, T-34 Association and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He received numerous awards, including "Federal Aviation Administration Great Lakes Region, 1994 General Aviation Flight Instructor of the Year."
Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Twin City Bible Church in Urbana. Rev. William Meier officiated. Burial followed in the Mount Hope cemetery in Champaign. A "Missing Man" formation flyover was performed by four of his colleagues as a tribute to him at the cemetery.
CECIL E. LANCE
Sept. 4, 1922 -- Nov. 26, 2003
Cecil E. Lance, 81, of Brimfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Seville, a son of John and Vivian Cannon Lance. He married
Judith K. Rampley on Feb. 10, 1945, in West Point.
He is survived by two daughters, Connie (Kenneth) Depperman, Glasford, and Patricia (Kevin) Kowalis, Bethany; two sons, Steven (Paula) Lance, Glasford, and David (Carolyn) Lance of Little Rock, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard (Jane) Lance of Eureka and William Lance of Bellevue, Ill.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Arabelle Engle and two brothers, John and Guy Lance.
He had lived in Dunlap for 26 years and in Brimfield since 1990. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and was retired from Hiram Walkers in Peoria after 31 years. He was a member of Brunswick Bible Church near Trivoli.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 29, at Patterson Funeral Home in Elmwood. Rev. Terry England officiated. Burial followed in the Brunswick cemetery, near Trivoli.

VIOLA R. REED
Nov. 14, 1915 -- Nov. 30, 2003
Viola Ruth Reed, 88, a lifetime Carthage resident died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in her home.
She was born Nov. 14, 1915, in LaHarpe, a daughter of Clinton Ellis and Ethel Schroder Sheets. On Dec. 24, 1940, in the home of her parents she married
Floyd D. Reed. He died Feb. 27, 1994.
She is survived by one daughter Dottie (John Chaplin) Ludwig of Keokuk; one son, Lee (Lynn) Reed of Austin, Texas; one sister, Dorothy Mae Sheets of Carthage; five grandchildren, Lance (Julie) Reed of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Lane (Shelly) Reed of Austin, Shane Stair of Keokuk, Andrea (Jeff) Stair of Kahoka, Mo., and Chad Lugwid of Keokuk; six great-grandchildren; two nephews, Clinton (Melody) Reed of Washington, Ill., and Randy (Judy) Reed of Carthage; one niece, Betty Reed of Carthage
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Elizabeth Reed.
She went to LaHarpe schools and graduated from Western Academy. She taught country school and then primary grades at Lincoln School in Carthage for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Church in Carthage since 1942, where she taught the Lookout Sunday School class for over 50 years. She was also a member of the CWF for many years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Moss Ridge cemetery in Carthage. Rev. Beth Rupe officiated.
Memorials in the name of Viola Ruth Reed have been established for First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Mission Fund.

ELVA M. FOREMAN

Elva M. Foreman, 75, of Decatur, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, in Woodcrest Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Lima, the daughter of Edwin and Elsie Hobel Doyle. She married
Roland Foreman on July 11, 1953. He died July 25, 1984.
She is survived by two sons, James and Alan both of Decatur; one brother, Harold Doyle of Quincy; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Geneva, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 22. Burial followed in the Mt. Hope cemetery in Berne, Ind.

IOLA M. PAYNE

Iola Marie Payne, 94, of Hamilton, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at her home in Hamilton.
She was born July 13, 1909, in Hamilton, the daughter of Walter and Ada Hull Bennett. She married
Everett "Ike" Payne on May 12, 1932, in Mexico, Mo. He died in 1997.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Frazier of Quincy, Sara (Don) Rothfuss of Quincy, and Sally Payne of Ft. Madison, Iowa; one brother, Vincent "Bud" (Zelma) Bennett of Macomb; three grandchildren, Toni (Jeff) Hanson, Shane Rothfuss, and Chad Payne; four great-grandchildren, Jackie, Nick, Melanie, and Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Vera Pilkington and Darline Irwin.
She attended Hamilton schools. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Hamilton. She was formerly a member of Order of the Eastern Star. She had worked as a telephone operator in Hamilton for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, at Oakwood cemetery in Hamilton. Rev. Phoebe Blankenship will officiate. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Hancock County Heart Association.

Harvey B. Ackley, 86, a resident of the Keokuk Nursing Center in Keokuk, formerly of Hamilton, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, in the Keokuk Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Hamilton, a son of Charles and Rose Worster Ackley.
He is survived by one sister, Emma Carter of Keokuk. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.
Graveside services were held Monday, Dec. 29, at Oakland cemetery in Keokuk.

M. ELEANOR ROCKEL

M. Eleanor Rockel, 75, of Burlington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, in Great River Medical Center, Burlington.
She was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Pontoosuc, a daughter of Ross and Dorothy James Johnson. She married
Lee A. Rockel on Sept. 10, 1948, in Pontoosuc. He died March 24, 1993.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy (Pat) Markey of Dallas City; one son, James (Shirley) Rockel of Burlington; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille (Lldon) Little of LaHarpe and Sarah Tilton of Lakeland, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one nephew; twin nieces; and one brother-in-law.
She graduated from Dallas City High School. She was primarily a homemaker, and also worked at Sheaffer Pen, ARCO Chemicals, and Dallas City Community School District Unit 336. She was a member of the West Burlington Christian Church. She was active in the E.C. Blackmar Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron in 2002, Burlington Women's Club where she participated in line dancing, and the N.I. Chapter of PEO. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and various charitable organizations.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 28, in Lunning Chapel. Rev. John Griffith officiated.
Memorials have been established for West Burlington Christian Church and E.C. Blackmar Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
LOIS K. GREENSLAUGH

Lois Kathleen Congdon Greenslaugh, 73, of Troy, Mo., formerly of Hamilton, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, in the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy.
She was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Keokuk, a daughter of Frederick F. and Fern H. Caldwell Phipps. She first married
John Jr. Congdon on Dec. 11, 1949, in Keokuk. He died Feb. 15, 1975. She then married
Louis Greenslaugh on July 26, 1980, in the First Christian Church in Hamilton.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Greenslaugh of Troy; one son, Mike (Carla) Congdon of Columbia, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Barb (Ted) Gibson of Kahoka, Mo., Diane (Joe) Grossman of Donnellson, and Mary Lu Greenslaugh of Carthage; four step-sons, Larry (Leslie) Greenslaugh of Keokuk, Jamie Greenslaugh of Hamilton, William "Bill" Greenslaugh of Hamilton, and John Greenslaugh of Carthage; one granddaughter, Amanda (Paul) Elliott of Troy; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Trenton Elliott of Troy; and several step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Doris McVeigh and Marjorie Bishop.
She was the past associate director of the Tuberculosis Association. She worked in the Medical Billing Dept. at the University of Missouri, and was a florist at the Flower Corner in Hamilton and the Boutique Shop in Moberly, Mo. She was the best mother and grandmother.
Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 29, in the Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton. Rev. Phoebe Blankenship officiated. John Stufflebean assisted.
Memorials have been established for A.L.S. Foundation research or National Autism Society.
SUSANN R. ALLEN

Susann R. (Eau Claire) Allen, 59, of Nauvoo, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, in her home in Nauvoo.
She was born Aug. 1, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa, a daughter of Walter G. and Ruth Manning Eau Claire. On Sept. 11, 1963, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she married
Charles W. Allen.
She is survived by her husband of Nauvoo; her parents, Walter and Ruth Eau Claire of Mason City, Iowa; three daughters, Carolyn Sue "Carrie" Wilson of Nauvoo, Christina Bronwyn (Michael) Rogers of Nauvoo, and Charlene Ruth (Curtis) Holbrook of Mesa, Ariz.; one son, C. Marcus (Kathy) Allen of Nauvoo; one sister, Denise Held of Everette, Wash.; two brothers, Mike Eau Claire of Gaithersburg, Md., and Steve Eau Claire of North Patomic, Md.; seven grandchildren, Ashlie, Maya, Craig, Andrew, Lani, Abby, and Luke.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Camille Eau Claire Allen in 1994; one son, Craig William Allen in 1981; and one granddaughter, Camille Bronwyn Rogers in 1996.
She was a homemaker and along with her husband, owned and managed The Allyn House and Blimpie in Nauvoo. She graduated from Mason City, Iowa, High School. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nauvoo. She served in various capacities in the Primary, Young Women's Association, and the Relief Society. She was very active in the Nauvoo Chamber of Commerce. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and daughter.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 27, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nauvoo. Bishop Merlin Reittinger officiated. Burial followed in the Nauvoo City cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
HAZEL BUTLER
Aug. 30, 1916 - Dec. 22, 2003
Hazel Butler, 87, a resident of the Montebello Manor HealthCare Center in Hamilton, formerly of Dixon, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2003, in the nursing home.
She was born in Walker Township, Hancock County, on Aug. 30, 1916, a daughter of Henry and Leona Sue Howes Herzog. She first married
Robert Kenneth Arend. He preceded her in death. She later married
Dick Butler. He also preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons, Robert (Delores) Arend of Hamilton, Roger (Linda) Arend of Dixon, and Delbert Arend of Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Dorothy Voss and one grandchild.
Private family services were held Friday, Dec. 26, in Oakwood cemetery in Hamilton.
Memorials have been established in her memory.
