Doris L. Stone, 81, of Kewanee and formerly of Neponset, Il. died at 5:25 A.M. Sunday, September 18, 2005 at Royal Oaks Care Center in Kewanee.

She was born August 31, 1924 in Neponset, Il. the daughter of George E. and Jean (Moore) Stone. She was reared and educated in Neponset.

She had been employed as a private sitter in Home Care prior to her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, painting and drawing.

Surviving is a son Paul Heberer of Kewanee, three daughters Pamela (and Ken Bowers of Deer Park, Tx. Cheryl Maxwell also of Deer Park and Linda (and Sam) Maxwell-Crawford of Bellaire, Tx. Three grandchildren Jessie and Jarad Crawford and Tiffany Bowers, one great granddaughter Madison, one brother George (Jane) Stone Jr. of Sheffield, Il., nieces and nephews.

Her parents and one sister Marjorie Reiff preceded her in death.

Graveside services and inurnment will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 8, 2005 in the Floral Hill cemetery, Neponset, Il. Rev. Rebekah Dees-McMahon of the Sheffield United Methodist Church will officiate. There will be no visitation. The Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. is in charge of the arrangements.

Dolores M. “Dory” Kermeen

Dolores M. “Dory” Kermeen, 74, of Kewanee, Il. died at 6:04 P.M. on June 12, 2005, at Kewanee Hospital. She was born December 9, 1930 in Kewanee the daughter of Vincent and Mary (Tomsic) Ostrowski. She graduated from Kewanee High School. She married Donald “Pete” Kermeen August 5, 1950 in Kewanee. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a brother Vince Ostrowski Jr. and a sister in infancy.

Surviving is a daughter Pat McGill of Kewanee, one granddaughter Lori (Mrs. Bryan) Simmons of Kewanee. Three great grandchildren Nicole, Sheila and Amanda and two great great grandchildren Hailey and Lainey. Also surviving is one sister Dorothy Dybdal of Kewanee and two brothers Joe Ostrowski and Edward (Connie) Ostrowski both of Kewanee. Nieces and nephews.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Kewanee. She had been employed for 33 years in the Meat Department at Kroger’s prior to retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, fishing and going to the casino.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 17, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Rev. Steven Bird of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church will officiate. Private burial will be in the Mount Olivet cemetery. There is no visitation. Memorials may be directed to her church or the American Cancer Society.

Bertha K. Clifford

Bertha K. Clifford 84 of Kewanee, formerly of Galva died 4:00am Saturday June 11, 2005 at her home. She was born March 9, 1921 in Galesburg Il daughter of Allan and Elma Swanson Morgan. She was educated in the Rova schools. She married George Clifford October 4, 1947 in Galesburg, he preceded her in death May 5, 2005, as well as three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Jerry (Christine) Lewis of Kewanee. One son Richard (Kathy) Clifford of Toulon Il. Five grandchildren Johanna, Jenna Lewis, and Bailey, Tyler, and Kelsey Clifford.

She worked at the A.J.’s restaurant in Galva Il during the 1980s. She was a member of the Galva Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, and her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday June 15, 2005 at the Galva cemetery with the Rev. Leo Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday June 14, 2005 at Schueneman & Tumbleson funeral home Kewanee. Memorials to the Galva Grace United Methodist Church.

Francis A. Eckwall

Francis A. Eckwall 94 of Kewanee died 11:55 pm Friday June 3, 2005 at Kewanee Hospital. She was born September 17, 1910 in Davenport Iowa daughter of Leslie and Forrest Harry Howe. She moved to Kewanee as a young girl, and was educated in the Kewanee schools. She married Mauritz Eckwall June 30, 1944 in Rockford Il, he preceded her in death May 28, 1984 and well as one daughter Ardyth Stewart July 23, 1995. She was also preceded in death by one sister Lydia, three brothers Bill, Harold, Lester.

She is survived by one granddaughter Lauri Grabbe of Toulon Il, two grandsons James(Connie) Stewart of LaFayette Il, and David Stewart of Kewanee. Two great grandchildren Jacob and Erica Grabbe. Two sister survive Mildred Hiester of Connecticut, Beverly Glaski of Kewanee. One brother survives Kenneth Howe of Arizona.

She enjoyed bird watching, stamp collecting, and her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday June 8, 2005 at Schueneman & Tumbleson funeral home Kewanee, with Pastor Dan Craig officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memory Gardens cemetery Kewanee. Memorial to the charity of the donors choice.

Angel “Papi” Judice
08/25/1910 - 11/11/2005
Angel “Papi” Judice, 95, of Kewanee, Il. died at 8:55 A.M. Friday, November 11, 2005 at Kewanee Hospital. He was born August 25, 1910 in Puerto Rico the son of Vicente and Francisca (Santiago) Judice. He was a fisherman in Puerto Rico. He came to the United States in the early 1950’s. Here he was a self-employed store owner. He married Genoveva Muniz in Puerto Rico. She preceded him in death in 1976. His parents, four sons Daniel, Efrain in infancy, Efrain and Juanito Judice and one daughter Elizabeth also preceded him in death.

Surviving is one son Jorge Judice of Florida and one daughter Erundina (Rev. Hector) Nater of Kewanee.

Thirteen grandchildren, Jose Daniel, Miguel Angel, Lilliam, Dinally, Melissa, Alejandro, William, Marissa, Elizabeth, Mariluz, Diana, Jorge and Carmen. Twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Hector Nater will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at the funeral home. Contributions may be left at the funeral home for a memorial to be established by the family.

Andrew W. Montooth

Andrew W. Montooth, 30, of Kewanee, Il. died at 5:26 P.M. Sunday, August 7, 2005 at his home. He was born October 22, 1974 in New York the son of Gary and Lila (Collinson) Montooth. He graduated from Toulon High School in 1992.

He married Tami Fields August 10, 2000 in Lewistown, Il. She survives along with three children Hailey and Payton Montooth both of Toulon, Il. and Samuel Schnarr of Cuba, Il. Three stepchildren Jimmy, Tucker and Dakota Adams. His parents Gary and Lila Montooth of Kewanee, two brothers Timothy Douglas of Ga. And Josh Montooth of Neponset, Il. Three sisters Dawn Highsmith of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Tina Montooth of Kewanee and Amanda (and Jarod) Lewis of Sterling, Il.

Maternal grandparents Lyle and Myrt Collinson of Galesburg, Il. and Paternal grandmother Jeanne Montooth of Kewanee. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Wendell Montooth and one nephew Kyle Osborne.

He was employed as a CNC machine operator at Martin Engineering in Neponset, Il. He was a member of the Toulon United Methodist Church. He enjoyed NASCAR, music and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 A.M. Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Dr. Kevin Siscoe of the First Baptist Church of Kewanee will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, August 10th at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.

George W. Chasteen
07/09/1929 - 07/11/2005
George W. Chasteen, 76, of Kewanee, Il. died at 11:08 A.M. Monday, July 11, 2005 at Kewanee Hospital. He was born July 9, 1929 in Sheffield, Il. the son of Reuben and Lois (Fellows) Chasteen. He graduated from Sheffield High School in 1947. He served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War with the 702nd Transportation Unit, 5th Army, stationed at Fort Eustis, Va.

He married Shirley Autery October 5, 1952 in Kewanee. She survives along with two sons Michall Chasteen of Keyesport, Il. and Randall Chasteen of Ladsden, S.C. Two grandchildren Brittany Chasteen of Abilene, Tx. and Taliesen Chasteen of Summerville, S. C. Also surviving are two sisters Mrs. Lela Heene and Eileen (Mrs. Marshall) Heene both of Kewanee and one brother Russell Chasteen of Sheffield, Il. His parents and a brother Kenneth preceded him in death.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee, Kewanee Masonic Lodge #159 A.F. and A.M. and the Moose Lodge of Farmington, Il. Following the war he worked at Kewanee Boiler Co. He later owned and operated a motel at Kentucky Lake, Ky. Returning to Illinois, he was employed at the Shell Oil Plant in Roxana, Il. and returning to Kewanee worked at Penberthy in Prophetstown, Il, Hyster Co. in Kewanee and retired from Compaction America in 1994. He enjoyed woodworking, building cabinets, remodeling homes and ballroom dancing.

Cremation will be accorded. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 30, 2005 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, rural Kewanee. Rev. Bruce Rushing of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Rescue Squad. The Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. is in charge of arrangements.

Lori L. Crane

Lori L. Crane, 39, of Kewanee, Il. died at 6:59 A.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Il. She was born May 6, 1966 in Mendota, Il. the daughter of Gerald and Sally (Swearingen) Crane. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1987.

She had been employed at Abilities Plus in Kewanee.

Surviving are two brothers Charlie Kiester of Chicago and Shannon Crane of Kewanee. Two sisters Kelly (Mrs. Gary) Kelly of Kewanee and Amanda Verway of Kewanee with whom she resided.

Also surviving are her stepfather Larry Verway of Kewanee, six nieces, five nephews, aunts, uncles and a special friend Paulie Dean of Kewanee. Her parents preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Kewanee Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing and painting ceramics.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 19, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson funeral home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. David Wineinger of the Kewanee Assembly of God Church will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Private family inurnment will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee at a later date. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday, November 18th at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Violet Ann Underwood
07/23/1930 - 08/22/2005
Violet Ann Underwood, 75, of Kewanee, Il. died at 2:45 P.M. Monday, August 22, 2005 at her home. She was born July 23, 1930 in Cumberland, Wisconsin the daughter of Lester and Marie Glovka. She graduated from Cumberland High School. She also graduated from the School of Nursing at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn.

She was employed as a nurse at the former St. Francis Hospital and Kewanee Public Hospital in Kewanee prior to retiring in 1983.

She married Russell Melvin Underwood on November 12, 1953 in Rochester. He survives along with four sons Harry Underwood of Kewanee, Il., Marlin (Barb) Underwood of Batavia, Il., Paul (Lisa) Underwood of Kansas City, Mo., Mark (Denise) Underwood of Memphis, Tn., three daughters Jeanine (Jim) Cox of Rock Springs, Wy., Carol (Brooks) DeBruhl of Ohio, Il. and Connie (Ron) Mowry of Janesville, Wi., Sixteen grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, two sisters Lucille Wagner of Racine, Wi., and Charlotte (Richard) Danniger of Columbus, Ohio.

Her parents and an infant son preceded her in death.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 1, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Jerry Rafalko will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. There will be no visitation.
