Sandra Sue Dykeman

Sandra Sue Dykeman, 61, of Bradford, Il. and formerly of Kewanee died at 4:20 A.M. Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the Kewanee Hospital. She was born June 21, 1944 in Kewanee, Il. the daughter of Bert and Agnes (Rickey) Hill. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1962. She married Richard Lee Dykeman May 17,m 1968 in Toulon, Il. He preceded her in death in 1991. Her parents also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons Michael Dykeman of Pekin, Joe and Jason Dykeman both of Bradford and one daughter Tanya Dykeman and her fiancé Audie Weir also of Bradford. Three grandchildren Kaylah, Samantha and Scott Weir, one brother Bert Hill Jr. of Ft. Myers, Fl. and her special friend Charlet Cade of Bradford.

She had been employed as a seamstress at Boss Glove Co. in Kewanee. She enjoyed making crafts with her grandchildren and serving as a room mother in their school. She also enjoyed reading, writing and crocheting.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Lee Legg of the Boyd’s Grove United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be from 4-6 P.M. Tuesday, November 22nd at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to an education fund for her grandchildren.

Alan E Gould

Alan E. Gould, 58, of Kewanee, Il. died at 1:09 P.M. Saturday, August 27, 2005 in the emergency room at Kewanee Hospital. He was born October 17, 1946 in Kewanee the son of Harry and Ruth (Failon) Gould. He graduated from Toulon High School in 1964.

He married Betty Carlson June 14, 1964 in Neponset, Il. She survives along with three sons Jeff (and Amy) Gould, Alan D. (and Devere) Gould and Brad Gould all of Kewanee, one daughter Judy Detrick of Norwalk, Iowa, three granddaughters Jennifer Gould, Brie and Corina Detrick, two grandsons Joseph Detrick Jr. and Tyler Nelson and special friends Danielle Fischer and Joseph Detrick Sr.

His parents, one sister Gloria and two brothers Harry and Willis preceded him in death.

He was employed for many years at the former Chet Lyle Service Station in Kewanee and the former Forsythe Car dealership. He was currently the parts manager for Taylor and Sons in Kewanee. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, September 1, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson funeral home, Kewanee, Il. Brian Giese of the First Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Floral Hill cemetery, Neponset, Il. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, August 31st at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donors’ choice.

Edna H. Malone

Edna H. Malone, 93, of Kewanee, Illinois died at 4:05 P.M. Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

She was born June 29, 1912 in rural Neponset, Illinois the daughter of Louis E. and Emma A. (Binno) Kaiser. She attended Bowen School.

She married Conrad Beutel April 16, 1933 in Kewanee. They were divorced. She later married Clarence P. Malone January 4, 1941 in Davenport, Ia. He died August 13, 1977.

Her parents, an infant son Gordon Beutel, one sister Myrtle Brotherson and two brothers Harry and Alvin Kaiser also preceded her in death.

Surviving is one daughter Carol (and Michael) Durnil of Kewanee. Also surviving are two grandsons Michael Durnil II of Kewanee and Timothy (and Robin) Wells of Ft. Hood, Tx., one great granddaughter Megan Wells and one sister Frances Hafner of Peoria, Il.

She was a life long and had been the oldest living member of the Church of Peace, rural Kewanee. She was also a member of the church’s Lydia Circle and Women’s Guild. She had been a member of the Kewanee Sr. Citizens Center and the Flemish American Club. She enjoyed music, gardening, spending time with her family and playing cards with her friends at Washington Apts. She had been employed as a floral designer at Hillside Florist in Kewanee and was a private sitter.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Church of Peace, rural Kewanee. Rev. Betty Hornback will officiate. Burial will be in the Church’s Garden of Peace. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Monday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee and also one half hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the Church. A memorial has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Francesco V. “Francie" Quagliano
08/14/1929 - 07/28/2005
Francesco V. “Francie” Quagliano, 75, of Kewanee, Il. died at 1:04 A.M. Thursday, July 28, 2005 at OSF St Francis Hospital in Peoria. He was born August 14, 1929 in Kewanee the son of Nicola and Carmela (Nevola) Quagliano. He graduated from Kewanee High School. He served in the Air Force in the Korean War.

He married Judy Boswell January 2, 1975 in Galesburg, Il. She survives along with five sons Christopher (Michelle) Quagliano of Kewanee

John Summy of Kewanee Shawn (Crystal) Summy of Kewanee. Mike (Jacinda) Quagliano of Chicago and Nick Johnson of Kewanee. One daughter Christian (Mrs. Pete) Tanzillo of Kewanee.

Two brothers Dr. Michael (Marilyn) Quagliano of Kewanee and Joe (Sally) Quagliano of Las Vegas, Nevada. One Sister Theresa Kapka of Niles, Il. Nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Christina “Tina” Quagliano and one grandson Jacob Summy.

He owned the Foreign Service Club/ MOC for many years, and currently helped run Linebackers Club in Kewanee with his son Christopher.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Kewanee and VFW Post 8078. He was an avid sports fan, particularly the Chicago Cubs. He had been a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 1, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kewanee. Rev. Jerome Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, rural Kewanee. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Schueneman-Tumbleson funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. where a rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to St. Judes.

Kenneth R McNaught

Kenneth R. McNaught, 66, of East Peoria, Il and formerly of Kewanee died Wednesday afternoon, July 27, 2005 at East Peoria Gardens Nursing Home.

He was born July 3, 1939 in Kewanee the son of Lloyd R. and Beatrice M. (Seyller) McNaught. He was reared and educated in Kewanee

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving is a sister Janice (and Gary) Strait of Peoria, Il. and a brother Lee (and Debra) McNaught of Washington, Il.

Four nephews, Gary Strait, Jr. , Robert Strait, Brett and Ryan McNaught, three nieces Deanna Lorentz, Joanna Strait and Kathleen Uphoff.

He worked construction, at the former Kewanee Boiler, and McDonalds in Kewanee.

He had been a member of AA.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Monday, August 1, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Virginia Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be from noon to the time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee AA or OSF St Francis Hospital Hospice.

Mary Ruth Doye Saletzki

Mary Ruth Doye Saletzki, 73, of Bloomington, Il. and formerly of Kewanee and Bradford died at 6:55 A.M. Monday July 25, 2005 at her home in Bloomington. She was born October 3, 1931 in Canton, Il. the daughter of Byrl H. and Lena (Rector) Baughman. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1949.

She married Lyle Doye February 25, 1951 in Kewanee. A homemaker, she and Lyle farmed in the Bradford area for many years. He preceded her in death in 1982. Her parents also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters Cheri (and Greg) Wallgren of Leroy, IL. Tibbie (and Merlin) Landwehr of Sun Lakes, Az. And Laurie (and Frank) Bogner of Yorkville, Il. Six grandchildren Jake and Andy Wallgren, Shannon Landwehr, and Megan, Seth and Lauren Bogner. Two great grandchildren Evan and Ella Wallgren.

She attended the Evangelical Free Church in Bloomington, Il. She was a well known vocalist in this area for many years. She enjoyed cross stitch, knitting and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 29, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Louie Lyons of the United Methodist Church of Green Valley, Az. will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. on Friday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the OSF Hospice of Bloomington, Il., the Community Fund of the Evangelical Free Church in Bloomington, Il. or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Glenda Jo Padilla

Glenda Jo Padilla, 51, of rural Kewanee, Il. died at 9:35 P.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at her home. She was born August 18, 1954 in Kewanee the daughter of Glenn and Patricia (Blust) Wemple. She graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1972.

She married Jim Padilla January 7, 1977 in Kewanee. He survives along with one son Jimmy Padilla of Kewanee. Also surviving are two sisters Crystal (Bryan) Addis, Sandra (Terry) Barker and one brother Jamie (Kathy) Wemple all of Kewanee. Three nephews Jeffrey and Daniel Addis and Travis Barker.

Her parents and one daughter Haley Jo preceded her in death.

She worked at home for 16 years, loving caring for her daughter Haley Jo until her death in 1993. She was later employed at Abilities Plus in Kewanee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kewanee. She enjoyed crafts, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Steven Bird of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church will officiate.

Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2005 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Annawan-Alba Library or the Henry County Humane Society.

John Rodak
01/14/1926 - 10/31/2005
John Rodak, 79, of Kewanee, Il. died at 11:10 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2005 at Kewanee Hospital. He was born January 14, 1926 in Kewanee the son of Paul and Stefanie (Dylong) Rodak. He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1943. He married Mary Wiggin April 19, 1952 in Kewanee. She preceded him in death on April 23, 1971. His parents, one sister Helen Vickroy, five brothers Chester, Bill, Eddie, George and Stan Rodak and one nephew Steven Rodak also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters Crystal (Tom) Blake of Neponset, Il., Linda Duytschaver of Kewanee, five grandchildren Eric (Lisa) Duytschaver, Matthew (Kelly) Duytschaver, Dustin, John and Cassidy Blake. Two great grandchildren Madison and Michael Duytschaver and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are three brothers Joe, Tony (Shirley) and Paul (Barb) Rodak and one sister Mary Rodak.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from February 1944 to April 1946. On his 19th birthday he participated in the invasion of Okinawa. Following the war, he was employed in the flooring department at Brackens and later owned and operated Rodak Floor Covering for many years. He was still installing floors up until the time of his death. He was a life long member of the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church in Kewanee. He served on the Kewanee School Board of Education from 1961-1987 and was board secretary from 1974-1987. During his tenure on the board he was a leader in establishing the Vocational Cooperative, Henry Stark Special Education and the East Campus of Black Hawk College. He was also a leader in the movement to keep Lyle School open. He put the interest of the students first and set an example by his guidance and concern for young people. He enjoyed gardening, teaching his trade to his grandchildren and following his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church in Kewanee. Rev. Jerry Rafalko will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday, November 4, 2005 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. where the rosary will be recited at 8 P.M. Memorials may be directed to Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
