Mildred “Mickey” Vujakovich

Mildred “Mickey” Vujakovich, 88, of Kewanee, Il. died at 12:15 P.M. Friday, December 29, 2006 at Kewanee Hospital. She was born December 16, 1918 in Kewanee the daughter of Milan and Anna (Germanovich) Vujakovich. She attended Kewanee schools. She was employed in the factories of Kewanee Works Walworth Company and Kewanee Manufacturing prior to her retirement.

Surviving are five sisters Mary Vujakovich, Joan Vujakovich, Lillian Manthe, Vivian (Stephen) Vranjes and Stina Tavares, three brothers Donald “Lefty” (Jean) Vujakovich, Nick Vujakovich and Leo Vujakovich all of Kewanee. Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, six sisters and one nephew.

She was of the Serbian Orthodox Faith. Mildred enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching country western dancing and spending time with her family.

Private funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Ned Lunich will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society.

Roberta Kathryn Peach

Roberta Kathryn Peach, 81, of Kewanee, Il. died at 11:10 P.M. Monday, December 25, 2006 at Royal Oaks Care Center in Kewanee. She was born December 18, 1925 in Kewanee the daughter of Cleveland and Jane (Coleman) Sparks. She graduated from Kewanee High School.. She married Jack Peach in November of 1945 in Chicago, Il. He survives along with three sons David (Karen) Peach, Henry Peach and Jack Peach, Jr. all of Kewanee, three daughters Jacqueline (Stanley) Hall of Galva, Il., Kathy (Walt) Kuykendall of Kewanee and June (Bryan) Huffman of Kewanee, twelve grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, one brother Donald Sparks of Las Vegas, Nv., two sisters Lola (Ed) Eaton of Aucamonga, Ca. and Naomi Mirocha of Davenport, Ia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons Jerry, Dean and Patrick, two brothers William and Weldon and three sisters June, Jean and Ethelyn.

She had been employed at Boss Glove Co. in Kewanee and later worked in Housekeeping at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Kewanee Assembly of God Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, sewing, playing cards and attending the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce Summer Concerts in the Park.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Harold Edward Seyller

Harold Edward Seyller, 95, of Charlottesville Va. and formerly of Kewanee, Il. died January 17, 2006 in Charlottesville. He was born May 5, 1910 in Kewanee, son of Edward and Martha Engel Seyller. He was reared and educated in Kewanee. He married Louise Cavanagh in Kewanee. She preceded him in death in 1993.

Surviving is one son Philip (Connie) Seyller of Palmyra, VA.

Harold was a veteran of the US Navy during WW II serving with the Atlantic Fleet.

He worked for many years for the US Government as a special agent.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 23, 2006 in Mount Olivet cemetery Kewanee, Il. Deacon John T. Mock of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church Kewanee will officiate. There will be no visitation. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Kewanee Veterans Council.

The Schueneman & Tumbleson funeral home Kewanee Il is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel M. (Mapes) Keets

Ethel M. (Mapes) Keets, 90, of Kewanee Care Home died at 7:04 A.M. Friday, January 20, 2006 at the home. She was born July 2, 1915 in Henry Co., Il. She married Leigh C. Keets December 10, 1944 in Wyoming, Il. He died May 24, 1975.

As a thirty year resident of Kewanee Care Home, she was distinguished as the home’s “Ambassador”.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee since 1957 and enjoyed the churches Bell Choir. She also enjoyed country music and playing bingo.

She was a member of the Kewanee Women of the Moose.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. K. Bruce Rushing will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Activities Department at Kewanee Care Home.

Mabel Crocket

Mabel Crocket, 92, of Kewanee, Il. died at 10:38 A.M. Friday, February 10, 2006 at Kewanee Care Home. She was born March 20, 1913 in Wyoming Illinois daughter of Ralph and Rachael (Augustine)Lyle. She was educated in Neponset schools.

She is survived by two sons William “Don” (Arlene) Crockett of Thomson Il, Glenn (Phylis) Crockett of Atkinson Il. One daughter Mrs. Clarence (Nancy) Schaub of Abington Maryland. 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 9 great great. 3 step grandchildren, 8 step great, 2 step great great grandchildren. One sister survives, Mrs Bernadene Pratt of Neponset Il.

She was preceded in death by both parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister, 1 grandchild.

She had worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, for many years a Reads Drug store in Belair Maryland from which she retired in 1981. She was a member of the Neponset Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing scrabble.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday February 15, 2006 at Schueneman & Tumbleson funeral home with the Rev. Ron Abbott of the York Community Congregational church of Thomson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Floral Hill cemetery Neponset Il. Memorials to the Kewanee Hospital Hospice.

Ruth V Kemerling

Ruth V. Kemerling, 91, of rural Neponset, Il. died at 12:40 P.M., Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at Kewanee Hospital. She was born July 25, 1914 in Kewanee the daughter of John and Bertha (Anderson) Strom. She graduated from Kewanee High School. She married Edward Kemerling July 7, 1933 in Kewanee. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.

Surviving is one son Jay Kemerling of Neponset and one daughter Janet Kemerling of Elyria, Ohio, nieces and nephews.

She was employed by Lockheed Aircraft, Baxter Medical Laboratories and VanDeKamp’s Bakery all in California. She attended the First Presbyterian Church of Kewanee where she served as a nursery attendant. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her family.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 24, 2006 in Pleasant View cemetery. Rev. Dr. James Breed of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. There will be no visitation.

Evelyn L Hyer

Evelyn L. Hyer 91 of Eldridge, Iowa and formerly of rural Kewanee died 1:00 am Tuesday March 21 at Genesis West Hospital Davenport, Iowa. She was born August 7, 1914 in Modale, Iowa , daughter of Claude and Lina Baer Bennett. She was reared and educated at Wethersfield Schools, and attended Business College in Detroit, Michigan. She married Edward Hyer December 13, 1941 in Wayland, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1996, as well a one son Bob in 2001, and One brother and one sister. Surviving is one son Jack (Karen) Hyer of Eldridge Iowa. Three grandchildren Daniel, Shawn, and Jill. Also survived by two great grandchildren.

She had helped her husband for many years with the family farm in rural Wethersfield Township. She was a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and the outdoors.

Funeral services will be 11:00 Friday March 24, 2006 at Schueneman & Tumbleson funeral home Kewanee, with the Rev. Dr. James Breed officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Elmira cemetery Elmira Illinois. Memorials to the American Heat Fund.

Katherine Rodgers

Katherine Rodgers, 86, of Kewanee, Il. died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Kewanee Hospital. She was born November 1, 1919 in Moline, Il. the daughter of Maryan and Berniece (Jalbrzykowska) Kerofsky. She was reared and educated in Moline. She married Robert Rodgers November 3, 1943. He preceded her in death as well as by one daughter Ruth Ann, four sisters and six brothers.

Surviving is one daughter Carol (Paul) Rudow of Monmouth, Il., two sisters Helen (Victor) Freund of Rock Island, Il. and Anna Kerofsky of Aledo, Il., one brother Charles Kerofsky of Moline, numerous nieces and nephews.

She had been employed at the former Zarvell’s bakery in Kewanee. She enjoyed gardening.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Jerry Rafalko will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2006 and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Wallace “Wally” Anderson

Wallace “Wally” Anderson, 93, of Kewanee, Il. died at 4:05 A.M., Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Kewanee Care Home. He was born June 28, 1912 the son of Axel and Tillie Anderson. He was reared and educated in Kewanee. He married Alyene Fitzgerald September 19, 1953 in Galesburg. She died March 2, 2004. Two sons, Douglas and Jerry Anderson, one grandson Randy Carmella and one brother Kent “Swede” Anderson also preceded him in death.

Surviving are four daughters Norma (Larry) Koontz of East Moline, Il., Diane Red of Columbus, Ga., Patti Quillin of Cleveland, Il. and Madelyn Anderson of Mountain Home, Ak., one stepson Dr. Robert Fitzgerald, Jr. of Decatur, In., ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

Mr. Anderson had served in the US Army. He had been employed at Kewanee Works Walworth Co and later at John Deere Planter Co. in Moline retiring in 1975 after 30 years of employment. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Susan Kent of the Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Kewanee Rescue Squad.

Laura Anna Kruskop

Laura Anna Kruskop, 97, of Kewanee, Il. died at 4:20 A.M. Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Kewanee Care Home. She was born September 5, 1908 in North Dakota the daughter of William and Katherine (Vhets) Mahler. She married Karl Kruskop in North Dakota on March 5, 1930. He died July 20, 1977. She was also preceded in death by three brothers Carl, William, Arnold and three sisters Rose, Minnie, and Luella.

Surviving is one son Robert Kruskop of Mulvane, Ks., three daughters Mrs. Betty Wasson of West Jersey, Il., Mrs. Helen Sander of Peoria, Il. and Mrs. Luella Sander of Kewanee, Il., fourteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Laura was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical United Church of Christ in Kewanee, the women of the Moose and the Flemish American Club. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, square dancing and collecting bells.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Dan Craig will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
