Robert J. “Andy” Anderson

Robert J. “Andy” Anderson, 84, of Kewanee, Il. died at 10:57 A.M. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Kewanee Hospital. He was born August 31, 1920 in Mineral, Illinois the son of Alex and Daisy (Boswell) Anderson. His father died when he was five years old and his mother remarried
Roy Chapman who helped to raise him. He attended school in Elmira, Il.
He married
Darlene DeValkenaere April 5, 1942 in Kewanee, Il. She preceded him in death in 1992. His parents, stepfather, one grandson, one great grandson and one step brother Don Chapman also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters Nancy (Robert) Mock of Galva, Il. and Linda (Donald) Gorden of Kewanee. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and one step brother Lawrence Chapman of Everett, Washington.
He was an Army veteran of WWII serving on Okinawa.
He was employed as a meat cutter for many years in Kewanee having worked at the former National T, Chuck’s Meat Market, Rashid’s Store and Super Value retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home in Kewanee, Illinois. Rev. Carol Andris of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. where the Kewanee Veterans Council will accord military honors. Visitation will be on hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
Howard Rule

Howard Rule, 86, of rural Kewanee, Il. died at 5:40 P.M. Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at his home. He was born in that same home on March 31, 1918 the son of James Edwin and Lillie (Janes) Rule.
He attended the North Star School.
He married
Margaret Kessler November 19, 1938 in Muscatine, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 10, 1982. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Steve Rule, a twin brother and two sisters Dorothy Morey and Ellen Lyle
Surviving are two sons Philip Rule of Western Springs, Il and Richard (Mary Ann) Rule of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Five grandchildren Cathy Tammaro, David Rule, Julie Hamlin, Michelle Blevins, Jodi Albrecht and seven great grandchildren.
He had farmed for many years in Neponset Twp. Bureau County on land which has been in the family since 1876.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee. He enjoyed fishing, helping others and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. K. Bruce Rushing will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday, April 1st at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Margaret Jean DeKoster

Margaret Jean DeKoster, 79, of Kewanee, Il. died at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2005 at Kewanee Hospital. She was born December 19, 1925 in Kewanee daughter of Peter and Cora (VanDeVelde) Dolieslager. She was educated in Wethersfield schools. She married
Corben DeKoster March 19, 1952 in Minnesota. He survives as well as one son Allen G. DeKoster of Kewanee. Three grandchildren Meishara Carlton, Kimberly Hewlett, Autumn DeKoster and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, and two sisters. She had been a homemaker, and enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crocheting.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday March 24, 2005 at Evergreen cemetery Kewanee. The Rev. Fredi Gomez Torres will officiate. There will be no visitation. Schueneman & Tumbleson funeral home Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
LeRoy T. Wright

LeRoy T. Wright, 83, of Kewanee, Illinois died at 5:07 A.M. Sunday, March 20, 2005 at Royal Oaks Care Center in Kewanee. He was born December 24, 1921 Kewanee, Il the son of Roy E. and Henrietta B. (Beck) Wright. He was reared and educated in Kewanee. He served as an M.P. in the Army during WWII. He worked on the paint line at Kewanee Manufacturing prior to his retirement.
Surviving is a brother George E. Wright of Kewanee, several nieces and nephews. His parents and two sisters Mary and Lucille preceded him in death.
He enjoyed bowling and playing horseshoes and was on a horseshoe league in Kewanee.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Rev. Dan Craig will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by the Kewanee Veterans Council.
Roger D. Chelin

Roger D. Chelin, 95, of Kewanee, Il. died at 4:45 P.M. Sunday, March 20, 2005 at Royal Oaks Care Center in Kewanee.
He was born October 23, 1909 in Princeton, Il. the son of Charles J. and Emma C. (Larson) Chelin. He was reared and educated in Princeton. He married
Mildred E. Gilbert December 24, 1933 in Princeton. She preceded him in death on December 1, 1989. He was also preceded in death by his son Wayne, five brothers and three sisters.
Surviving is a grandson Mark W. (Debbie) Chelin of Littleton, CO. Three great grandchildren Danielle, Nick and Aubreanna, his daughter-in-law Judy Chelin of Peoria, Il. and special friend and care giver Irene Sollenberger of Kewanee.
He had worked for Larson Seed Co. in Princeton for 21 years. Moving to Kewanee in 1950 he owned and operated a grocery store and worked for the City of Kewanee. He retired from Kewanee Manufacturing.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Kewanee and the Kewanee Senior Center. He enjoyed traveling, attending auctions and was well known in the area as an antique dealer.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Susan Kent of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed Zion Lutheran Church or the Kewanee Senior Center.

June L. Marshall Agnew, 87, of Kewanee, Il. died at 11:40 A.M. Sunday, March 13, 2005 at her home. She was born May 24, 1917 in Kewanee the daughter of George F. and Lavona (Mettler) Dennis. She graduated from Kewanee High School. She married
Henry Marshall in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1980. She married
Fred Agnew in 1983. He preceded her in death in 1996. A son Richard Marshall and a brother Billy Dennis also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters Shirley (Clarence) Robinson of Aurora, Il., Carol (Mrs. Ron) VanDeRostyne and Mary Anne Rogers both of Kewanee. Eight grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren and one daughter in law Joyce Marshall of Princeton, Il.
She was employed at the former Hotel Kewanee and later worked as cafeteria cashier at Kewanee High School retiring in 1981.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kewanee, Kewanee Moose Lodge, Flemish American Club, and Kewanee Senior Citizens having played in the Kitchen Band. She enjoyed crocheting, word search puzzles, her dog “Tootsie”, bowling leagues and the Chicago Bulls and Cubs.
A mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 17, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kewanee. Rev. Chris Haake will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Church from 9:00 A.M. to the time of the mass on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Senior Center, American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
Eugene Francis Jones

Eugene Francis Jones, 63, of Ladd, Il. and formerly of Kewanee, Il. died at 6:45 P.M. Saturday, March 12, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Il. He was born March 23, 1941 in Kewanee, Il. the son of John Edward and Gladys Frances (York) Jones. He was reared and educated in Kewanee.
He married
Lois Jean Lyle June 2, 1962 in Aurora, Il. They were divorced in 1974. Surviving are three daughters Connie Lynn Jones of San Clemente, Ca., Carole Jean Nicholson of Oswego, Il. and Christine Kay Jones of Palatine, Il. One son John Edward Jones of Ladd, Il. and three grandchildren Ryan Michael Nicholson , Lindsey Kay Jones and Sandra Jean Jones.
One sister Carole Stern of Annawan, Il. and one brother Robert (Joan) Jones of Kewanee, Il.
Also surviving is a special friend, Nancy Larkey, with whom he resided.
His parents, one brother Donald Jones and one sister Dorothy Jodts preceded him in death. He had been employed as a produce manager for Eagles Grocery and lived and worked in many parts of the country. He enjoyed travel, nature, reading and his pets.
Private Graveside services will be Saturday, March, 29, 2005 in the Mount Olivet cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kewanee will officiate. There will be no visitation.
William E. VanAutreve, Jr.

William E. VanAutreve, Jr. 75, of Kewanee, Il. died at 6:45 P.M. Saturday, March 12, 2005 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Il. He was born December 13, 1929 in Kewanee the son of William E. and Kathryn (Euchaski) VanAutreve Sr. He was reared and educated in Kewanee.
He married
Naomi Marie Botts June 16, 1952 in Kewanee. She survives along with two sons William D. (Teresa) VanAutreve III of Galesburg, Il. and John E. (DeAnn) VanAutreve of Geneseo, Il. Two daughters Linda Vallee’ of Moline, Il. and Crystal (Terry) Mallery of Kewanee, Il. Ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one brother Marvin (Dinah) VanAutreve of Elmira, Il. His parents and one brother Robert preceded him in death.
He farmed for seventeen years in the Toulon area and later worker for twenty four years as a tool and dye maker at Hyster Co. in Kewanee retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Kewanee Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed coffee with his Burger King “drinking buddies”, fishing and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be from noon to the time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
