Clarence “Whitey” White

Clarence “Whitey” White, 84, died at 11:00 P.M. Thursday, March 10, 2005 at his home in Kewanee, Il. He was born July 13, 1920 in Victoria, Il. the son of Clarence and Edna (Anderson) White. He was reared and educated in Milan, Il.. He served in the Army during WWII. He married Evelyn Graf December 7, 1941 in Kewanee, Il..

She survives along with two sons Ray (Kathy) White of Ohio, Il. and Ronald (Vickie) White of Kewanee. Five grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. One brother Robert (Patsy) White of Kansas City, Mo. Nieces and Nephews. His parents, three brothers, Leonard, Ray and Cliff and one sister Louise preceded him in death.

Mr. White was employed at Kewanee Machinery and Conveyor for 35 years prior to retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee, the Flemish American Club and its Bolders Club. He was a life member of Kewanee VFW Post 8078 and was also a member of the Kewanee American Legion Post #31. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Private funeral services will be Monday in Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee with Rev. K. Bruce Rushing officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or the Kewanee Hospital Hospice.

Donald A. “Pete” Kermeen

Donald A. “Pete” Kermeen, 76, of Kewanee died 10:15 a.m. Sunday March 6, 2005 at Kewanee Care Home. He was born August 10, 1928 in Kewanee son of Donald and Leona (Lindbloom) Kermeen. He was educated in the Galva schools and was a veteran of the US Navy serving from 1947 – 1951. He married Dolores Ostrowski August 5, 1950 in Kewanee. She survives as well as one daughter Pat McGill of Kewanee. 0ne granddaughter Mrs. Bryan (Lori) Simmons also of Kewanee. Three great grandchildren Nicole, Sheila, and Amanda Nuding. Two great great grandchildren Hailey and Lainey, nieces and nephews. One brother Dave (Betty) Kermeen of Arizona and one sister Carol Hardy of Kewanee.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

He worked for many years at the Kewanee Boiler Co. and later was employed at the Farm King store in Kewanee.

He was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Kewanee and Kewanee VFW Post 8078. He enjoyed golfing, taking care of his lawn, and spending time with his grandkids.

Services will 1:30 p.m. Friday March 11, 2005 at the Schueneman & Tumbleson funeral home with Rev. Fredi Gomez Torres officiating. There will be no visitation, Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral by the Kewanee Veterans Council. There will be a reception at the VFW Post 8078 following the services at the funeral home. Private burial will be in the Mount Olivet cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Caner Society. The Schueneman & Tumbleson funeral home of Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

Julia Rose Ross

Julia Rose Ross, 97, of Kewanee, Ill died at 11:36 P.M. Thursday March 3, 2005 at Kewanee Hospital. She was born February 8, 1908 in Kewanee the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Savakenus) Staphan.

She was reared and educated in Kewanee. She married Robert Ross May 4, 1935 in Kewanee. He preceded her in death in 1977. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Geraldine J. Webb, two sisters and four brothers.

Surviving is a daughter Barbara (Chester) Jablonski of Long Beach, Ca. Seven grandsons and six great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews.

She had been employed as a seamstress at Boss Glove Co. in Kewanee. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 11, 2005 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Kewanee. Rev. Fredi Gomez Torres will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass on Friday at the church. Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. is in charge of the arrangements.

Patricia Jean Martin
03/08/1933 - 02/25/2005
Patricia Jean Martin, 71, of Bushnell, Il. and formerly of Kewanee died at 10:22 A.M. Friday, February 25, 2005 at the Mosaic Home in Bushnell. She was born March 8, 1933 in Kewanee the daughter of Anton and Ida May (Clark) Martin.

Surviving is an aunt Julia Ann Smith of Kewanee and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Barbara Ann Boone and an Aunt Helen Smith.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2005 in Mount Olivet cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Fredi Gomez Torres of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Animal Shelter.

Howard B. Baldwin

Howard B. Baldwin, 80, of Kewanee died at 5:44 P.M. Thursday, February 24, 2005 in the emergency room at Kewanee Hospital.

He was born October 8, 1924 in Galva, Il. the son of Simon and Florence (McIhargy) Baldwin. He attended Galva and Kewanee schools.

He married Mary Lou Hayden February 23, 1947 in Dwight, Il. She survives along with one daughter Becky (Bob) Switzer of Kewanee and two sons David (Judy) Baldwin of Rock Falls, Il. and Hayden (Carla) Baldwin of Chicago, Il. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters Loris Jean Kinsey of Galesburg, Il., Arlene Peterson of Coralville, Iowa and Georgian Schmidt of Columbus, Ohio. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.

He was a plumbing inspector for the City of Kewanee retiring in 1990. He was in U.S. Navy serving in Australia.

He was a member of the Kewanee VFW and American Legion, the Allendale Conservation Club in Modena, Il. and served as a Scout Master for American Legion Troop #103. He enjoyed fishing, square dancing, boating, hunting, playing pool and his electric scooter.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 28, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home in Kewanee, Il. Virginia Nelson will officiate. Private family burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, rural Kewanee. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home following the services by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Senior Citizen Center.

George E. Dye

George E. Dye, 69, of Kewanee, Il. died at 6:40 A.M. Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at his home. He was born April 1, 1935 in White Lake, South Dakota the son of Forrest and Anna (Thiery) Dye. The family moved to the Kewanee area where he attended Elmira Grade School. He graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1953.

He married Joyce Lindquist March 2, 1957 in Kewanee, Il. She survives along with one son Steve Dye of Kewanee and three daughters Sheri (Richard) Price of Kewanee, Debbie (Jeff) Wallen of Tucson, Arizona and Beth Dye of Kewanee. Four grandchildren Eric Price, Kelly, Kevin and Keri Wallen. Also surviving are two brothers Harold (Rose) Dye of Napa, Ca. and Wayne (Barbara) Dye of Woodstock, Il. Aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

His parents preceded him in death.

He had been employed as a welder at Hyster/Compaction America retiring in 1999. He had served in the Illinois National Guard. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed his cat Taffy, fishing, gardening and reading westerns.

Private funeral services were at 1:30 P.M. Friday, February 25, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Robert Prendergast officiated. Burial was in the Mount Olivet cemetery, Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Humane Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Stanley “Stan” Rodak

Stanley “Stan” Rodak, 70, of Kewanee, Illinois died at 9:20 P.M. Thursday, February 17, 2005 at his home.

He was born September 11, 1934 in Kewanee the son of Paul S. and Stefanie (Dylong) Rodak. He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1952. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a self employed floor specialist retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Kewanee VFW and enjoyed fishing, horse racing, woodworking and loved his dogs Samantha, Lady and Princess.

Surviving is one son Mark Rodak of Atkinson, Il., two grandchildren Lindsay and Nick Rodak. Four brothers Joe Rodak, Tony (Shirley) Rodak and John Rodak all of Kewanee and Paul (Barbara) Rodak of Bellingham, Wa. and one sister Mary Rodak of Kewanee. Numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his special friend Linda Brown with whom he resided. His parents, four brothers Chester, George, Bill and Edward and one sister Helen Vickroy preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Rev. Jerry Rafalko will officiate. There will be no visitation. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Hospital Hospice.

Lorraine L. Swan

Lorraine L. Swan, 74, of Kewanee, Il. died at 3:35 P.M. Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Kewanee Care Home. She was born September 5, 1930 in Kewanee the daughter of William and Beulah (Mink) Murcalvy. She graduated from Galva High School in 1948.

Surviving is a son Delmer D. (Gloria) Durant of Kewanee. Two grandchildren Darra L. Durant of Kewanee and Darren “D.J. Durant, Jr. of Arizona. Two great grandchildren Gage A. and Ethan W. Peed both of Kewanee.

She was preceded in death by one son Darren D. Durant on 1995 and a sister Elaine Kermeen.

She had been employed at the former Lily-Tulip Co. in Galva and later at Leisure Hills Nursing Home in Kewanee. She was an avid collector, movie viewer, reader and enjoyed working puzzle books.

Cremation will be accorded and there will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donors’ choice. The Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. is in charge of the arrangements.

Julius C. Standaert

Julius C. Standaert, 89, of Kewanee, Il. died at 4:45 A.M. Monday, February 14, 1005 at the Pine View Care Center in St. Charles, Il. He was born May 21, 1915 in Kewanee the son of Reniel and Leona (Mestag) Standaert. He was reared and educated in Kewanee. He married Emily rose on October 10, 1942 in Kewanee. She preceded him in death on September 7, 1971. He married Helen Marie Burch May 6, 1978 in Kewanee. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2003. His parents and four sisters also preceded him in death.

Surviving is a stepdaughter Mary Beth (Mrs. Wilfred “Bud”) Snyder of St. Charles, Il. Two stepsons Dennis (Kathy) Burch of Phoenix, Az and William Burch of San Jose, Ca. Four step grandchildren Christopher and Kathryn Snyder and Jodi and Christine Burch. One sister May DeBlock of Kewanee and many nieces and nephews.

He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines and discharged as a Tech 5 in 1946. He had been employed at Mower Bothers Distributing in Kewanee a later worked for eleven years as a lift truck driver at Hyster Co. retiring in July of 1971.

He had been a member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kewanee and it’s Knights of St. John. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kewanee. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Cubs fan.

A mass of Christian Burial will be at twelve noon on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kewanee. Rev. Chris Haake will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet cemetery, Kewanee where the Kewanee Veterans Council will accord military honors. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday, February 18th at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home in Kewanee where the rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to the Visitation School Foundation.
