CARTHAGE, Ill. - Linda J. Moore, 61, of Carthage, Ill., died at 2:55 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, in Memorial Hospital, Carthage, Ill.
She was born on March 20, 1948, in Keokuk, the daughter of Alvin C. and Marie E. (Mitze) Buckert.
She was united in marriage to William L. Dorothy in 1966. She was later married
to Larry Lee Moore in 1977. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was with her companion, Rolland Reed, from 1993 until his death in 2001.
She graduated from Hamilton High School, Hamilton, Ill., in 1966. Linda had worked at the F/S office in Carthage for many years before transferring to the Warsaw, Ill., office. From 1983 until her retirement in 2008, she had worked as the county office assistant for the USDA/FSA in Carthage.
She was an avid Elvis Presley fan.
Survivors include: two sons, Colin K. Dorothy and his wife, Juliann, of Hamilton and Chad E. Dorothy and his wife, Elizabeth A., of Carthage; two stepdaughters, Tina Boley and her husband, Dee, of Hamilton and Brenda Steck and her husband, Bill, of Carman, Ill.; six grandchildren, Kelly Ann and Coy William Dorothy, both of Hamilton, and Hannah, Jonathon, Leah and Jacob Dorothy, all of Carthage; six step-grandchildren, Toni and Ashley Boley and Maria, Abbey, Katie and John Steck; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob Buckert, Fred (Ruth) Buckert and Larry (Cheryl) Buckert, all of Hamilton; a sister, Betty Harvey of West Point; several nieces and nephews; and two brothers-in-law, Mark and Mike Dorothy.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a brother, Russell Buckert; a sister, Joyce Hartweg; two brothers-in-law, Leon Hartweg and Frankie Harvey; and a sister-in-law, Freda Buckert.
Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today at Printy Funeral Home, Carthage.
Cremation rites were conducted following the service.
Visitation was held Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Western Illinois Threshers or Blessing Hospice of Hancock County.
Lois M. Martin
July 23, 1919 - May 23, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Lois M. Martin, 89, of Bloomington, Ill., died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009, at her home.
She was born on July 23, 1919, in Argyle, the daughter of Louis and Nessie Doherty Dumenil.
She married
Willis J. Martin on Sept. 6, 1969, in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2001.
Survivors include: two nieces, Sharee (Harold) Marzolf of Monroe, Wis., and Donna Singh of Chandigarh, Punjab, India; a stepson, Wallace (Barbara) Martin of Peoria, Ill.; a stepdaughter-in-law, Judith Martin of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a brother and a step-son, Philip Martin.
She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1937 and attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Ill. She worked in Keokuk, Quincy, Lexington, Ky., and Macon, Ga., prior to her employment at General Telephone in Bloomington.
She was a member of St. Luke Union Church, Bloomington, VFW Post 454 Ladies Auxiliary, the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and was a 70-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Lois also served as an election judge for many years.
She had many good friends from her church, sorority sisters and neighbors whom she enjoyed very much. Her neighbors, the Legg's, were always there for Lois when she needed them.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Union Church, Bloomington, with the Rev. Bob Sherman officiating.
Private burial will be in Oakland cemetery, Keokuk, at a later date.
Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke Union Church, 2101 E. Washington St., Bloomington, IL 61701.

M. Roberta Vance
Nov. 27, 1918 - May 23, 2009
CARTHAGE, Ill. - M. Roberta Vance, 90, of Carthage, Ill., died at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009, in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb, Ill.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1918, in Augusta, Ill., the daughter of Robert G. and Edith M. (Hill) McTee.
She was united in marriage to Sherman A. Vance on July 24, 1937, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1996.
She was a 1936 graduate of Carthage High School. She had worked as a nurse's aide at Memorial Hospital in Carthage. She also had been employed by Dryden's Rubber Plant. She worked longest and enjoyed her job as the banquet hostess at the Holiday Inn in Quincy, Ill.
Roberta had lived in West Point, Ill., from 1960 to 2001, when she moved to Carthage.
She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for nearly 60 years and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Bowen, Ill., and Carthage for more than 40 years. She was the last surviving Gold Star Mother in Hancock County, Ill., and was honored in the local parades.
Survivors include: five children, Robert A. Vance and his wife, Diana, of Hanson, Ky., Bonnie Jean Allen and her husband, Francis, of West Point, Ill., Connie Jo Marshall and her husband, Royce Schierding of St. Charles, Mo., Dr. William McTee Vance and his wife, Pamela, of Sedalia, Mo., and Jeffrey J. Vance and his wife, Laurie, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a son-in-law, Kevin Rund of Lexington, Ill.; 25 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Sherman Dale Vance, K.I.A., 1968, Vietnam War; a daughter, Judy Lynn Rund; a brother, Willy; and a sister, Elsie.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Printy Funeral Home, Carthage, with burial to follow in the Harmony Township cemetery near Bentley, Ill.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday.
Memorials may be directed to the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Brenda Sue ‘Happy’ Butler Hobb
HAMILTON, Ill. - Brenda Sue “Happy” Butler Hobb, 46, of Hamilton, Ill., died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at her home.

HAMILTON, Ill. -- Brenda Sue “Happy” Hobb, 46, of Hamilton, Ill., died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at her home.
She was born on June 8, 1962, in Keokuk, the daughter of Roger C. and Jeanette (Real) Butler.
She married
Louis Hobb on Sept. 24, 1983, in Keokuk. He survives in Hamilton.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Nathan Hobb of Montrose and Adam Hobb of Hamilton; her parents, Roger and Jeanette Butler of Alexandria, Mo.; a sister, Debbie (Tom) Pitford of Alexandria; a brother, Roger D. Butler of Keokuk; her mother-in-law, Rosalie Hobb of Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Gladys (Jerry) Pierce of Monahans, Texas, Shirley Hobb of Hamilton, Adalee (Mike) Johnson of Blandinsville, Ill., Doris (Marvin) of Fort Madison, Mary (Buddy) Bennet of Garland, Texas, Vera (John) Davis of Troy, Mich., Karen (Roger) Bryant of Keokuk and Nancy (Bill) Mann of Monahans; brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Sherlene) Hobb of Keokuk and Alva Hobb of Warsaw, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her brother-in-law, Stanley Hobb; and a sister-in-law, Rosalie Rakey.
Happy graduated from Clark County R-1 High School in Kahoka, Mo., and attended State Street Cosmetology School in Quincy, Ill. She worked several jobs and made friends where ever she went. Most recently, she was employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk until her illness prevented her from working. She enjoyed making crafts, collecting smiley faces and spending time with her family. She had a big heart and will be missed by everyone who knew her, including her dog, Mickey.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lamporte - St.Clair Funeral Home, Hamilton, with Terry Massey officiating.
Visitation is after 10 a.m. Thursday, with family meeting friends between 11 a.m. and the time of the service.
Burial will be in Frazee cemetery, rural Alexandria.
Cremation rites have been accorded.

QUINCY, Ill. -- Lydia Allison, 85, of Quincy, Ill., died Tuesday morning, June 2, 2009, in Quincy.

Robert ‘Bob’ Charles Harnetiaux

HAMILTON, Ill. - Robert “Bob” Charles Harnetiaux, 82, of Hamilton, Ill., died Sunday, May 24, 2009, in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1926, in Beardstown, Ill., the son of Jesse and Goldy Harnetiaux.
After completing high school, he enlisted in the Army and served in World War II. Upon returning to the states, Bob began carpentry and farm work. In 1956, he purchased the family house and farm in Hamilton where he continued to farm these many years.
Bob loved farming and growing sweet corn and other garden vegetables, which he sold at various farmer’s markets in the community. He enjoyed hunting, boating and camping with friends.
For 24 years, he and his wife, Mary, would travel to Texas for the winter months in their RV and made great friends with many other “winter Texans.”
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Harnetiaux; three daughters, Deana Fisher of Overland Park, Kan., Julie Surratt of St. Peters, Mo., and Nancy Lischer of Leawood, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Natalie West of Dallas, Texas; Melissa Clark, Craig Fisher and Tyler Kettering, all of Overland Park, Alec and Tori Surratt, both of St. Peters, and Jack, Olivia and Paige Lischer, all of Leawood; two brothers, Leon Harnetiaux of Hamilton and Jim Harnetiaux of Carthage, Ill.; three sisters, Marie Carpenter of Roseville, Calif., Dorothy Sparrow of Warsaw, Ill., and Shirley Coe of Arlington, Va.; nine nephews; a niece; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; first wife, Betty; and a daughter, Debra.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at First Christian Church, Hamilton, followed by burial in Oakwood cemetery, Hamilton.

Lydia Geraldine Allison

QUINCY, Ill. -- Lydia Geraldine Allison, 85 years, five months and 12 days, of Lincoln Douglas Apartments, Quincy, Ill., formerly of Keokuk, went to be with the Lord at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, in Sunset Home, Quincy.
She was the daughter of Theodore and Carrie Mae Gilbert Stice, born on Dec. 20, 1923, in Lewiston, Mo.
She was united in marriage to William Arthur Allison on Nov. 19, 1947, in Plainview, Texas. He preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2003.
She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Keokuk.
Lydia was employed by Sheller Globe for more than 20 years. She enjoyed baking Christmas sugar cookies for her family, canning, reading, embroidery and visiting family. She was famous in her family for her homemade noodles and coleslaw.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mary R. Hudnut Redd of Maywood, Mo., and Linda L. Gibleon and her husband, Elmer, of Quincy; three sons, Melvin Jr. Allison and his wife, Marlyce, of Denmark, William Gary Allison and his wife, Robin, of Smithville, Mo., and Cletus E. Allison of Bedford, Texas; eight grandchildren, Glenda Mann of Quincy, Gail Berry of Glenwood, Mo., Glinton Gibleon and Tallie Meyer, both of Quincy, Jerrilynn Reynolds of Winfield, Elyssa Allison of Kansas City, Mo., Nikki Allison of Ozark, Mo., Jessica Allison of Smithville, Mo.; 15 great- grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and six sisters, and a grandson, Eric Wayne Allison.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at DeJong's Funeral Home, Keokuk, with the Rev. Chuck Sackett officiating.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Keokuk.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
