Mary Harnetiaux, 82, Hamilton, Ill.
HAMILTON, Ill. – Mary Ketcham Kerr Harnetiaux, 82, of Hamilton, Ill., passed away March 15, 2017, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., from complications of Wegner’s granulomatosis.
Mary was born on March 7, 1935, in Burnside, Ill., the youngest of nine children of Ida and Homer Ketcham.
Mary started school in a one-room schoolhouse followed by Burnside Grade School and Carthage High School. She earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Western Illinois University in 1957. She taught at Warsaw, Carthage and Nauvoo.
Mary married
Gary Kerr in June 1959, and they had two daughters, Deana and Julie. Gary died in July 1966. Mary married
Robert Harnetiaux in 1967, and they had daughter, Nancy.
Mary was president of Home Extension, and a certified nursing assistant. Mary and Bob were farming partners; she was ready to suggest her solutions and opinion for each problem which resulted in some interesting conversations at supper. She had a boisterous voice in the stands for each daughter’s various events. Mary had a big laugh and fun sense of humor. She loved playing cards with friends and the times she and Bob spent as snowbirds in southern Texas.
Mary is survived by daughters, Deana Fisher (Dave) of Overland Park, Kan., Julie Surratt (Scott Decker) of St. Peters, Mo., and Nancy Lischer (Ted) of Leawood, Kan.; grandchildren, Melissa, Natalie, Craig, Tyler, Alec, Tori, Jack, Olivia and Paige; five great-grandchildren; brother, Dick Ketcham of LaHarpe, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her two husbands, Mary was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Debra; and siblings, Gene, Boyd, James, twins Betty and Bonnie, Kenneth and Keith.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, Ill.
Family will meet friends from 9:30 a.m. March 22 until time of services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
A lunch reception for family and friends will follow at Lake Hill Winery in Carthage.
Memorial contributions can be made to First Christian Church of Hamilton.

Elisabeth Nagy, 87, Warsaw, Ill.
WARSAW, Ill. – Elisabeth V. Nagy, 87, of Warsaw, Ill., passed away at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Montebello HealthCare Center in Hamilton, Ill.
She was born on April 3, 1929, in Hungary, the daughter of Zoltan and Elisabeth Oberlender Eordogh.
She married
Alexander Nagy on May 10, 1953, in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2009.
Survivors include two sons, Gabe (Kathy Stump) Nagy of Warsaw and Paul (Cindy Hieatt) Nagy of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandsons and their families, Gabriel (Annette Bangert) Nagy (and their children Sawyer, Saylor and Savana), Alex (Elizabeth Rainbolt) Nagy (and their son, Rhett), and Paul (Julie “Kylie” Sieme) Nagy of Tucson; a granddaughter, Christine (Matt) Northey of Tucson; and a sister, Vilma Eordogh of Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Elisabeth was born and attended high school in Hungary. She and her family moved to Keokuk as refugees in 1951, after fleeing Hungary and Germany. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Keokuk before marrying Alex Nagy. She was of the Lutheran faith.
Elisabeth enjoyed keeping up with current events worldwide, and continued to receive a Hungarian newspaper. She had traveled to Hungary and Germany several times to visit family. She enjoyed cooking. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest love.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

CARTHAGE, Ill. – Dorothy June Sherer, 89, of Carthage, Ill., passed away at 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at Maple Grove Red Apartments in Carthage.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Carthage, with burial to follow in Moss Ridge cemetery in Carthage.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.

Esther Prior, 82, Carthage, Ill.
CARTHAGE, Ill. – Esther Irene Prior, 82, of Carthage, Ill., passed away at 5:02 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
Esther was born Dec. 6, 1934, the daughter of Clarence Franklin and Mary Ada Hatcher Walker in Palmyra, Neb.
On Feb. 25, 1956, she was united in marriage to Dr. Richard Prior in Hancock County, Ill.
Esther was a homemaker and also assisted in the family chiropractic practice in Warsaw, Ill. She was a member of Smyrna Primitive Baptist Church in Bentley, Ill., and Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church in Tennessee. She also had been a member of Home Extension, and she and Richard were leaders in the Warsaw Cub Scouts.
Esther is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard of Carthage; two sons, Dr. Duane Prior of Warsaw and David Prior of Carthage; a daughter, Twila (Vince) Carlson of Denver, Colo.; two granddaughters, Brittany (Andrew) King and Kayla Prior; a great-grandson and great-granddaughter, Kanaan and Eden King; and five sisters, Edith Surbaugh of Urich, Mo., Vera Brunke of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Ella Boen of Arkansas, Lena (Jerry) Miller of Excelsior Springs and Lois (Harry) Freeland of Creighton, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Andrea Prior.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, with burial to follow in Moss Ridge cemetery in Carthage.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Printy Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to Smyrna Primitive Baptist Church.

Margret Lum, 94, Nauvoo, Ill.
NAUVOO, Ill. – Margret Louise Anderson Lum, 94, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Nov. 4, 2016, at the home of her son in North Las Vegas, Nev.
Survivors include two children, including locally, MeiLin Lum of Nauvoo, Ill.
Louise was born on April, 27, 1922, in Galesburg, Ill., to Charles F. and Viola Anderson, and grew up in Niota, Ill.
A memorial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. March 8, at Nauvoo Presbyterian Church, with her nephew, the Rev. Mark Anderson, officiating. Interment will follow in Nauvoo City cemetery.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Louise’s life.

Dee Ommen, 46, Dallas City, Ill.
DALLAS CITY, Ill. – Dee A. Ommen, 46, of Dallas City, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, near Dallas City.
She was born Aug. 24, 1970, in Cedar Rapids. She grew up in Toddville, and graduated from Alburnett High School in 1988.
She graduated from Hamilton Business College in 1990. She worked at Yellowbook in Cedar Rapids for many years, and later for Griffin Muffler in Fort Madison.
On Sept. 14, 2002, she married
Scott Ommen. They later divorced.
She enjoyed traveling, concerts, her flower garden, boating with Mike, and most of all, spending time with her beloved cats.
Dee is survived by her significant other, Mike Dean of Dallas City; a sister, Charlene (Ed) Allaire of Toddville; two nieces, Catherine Young of Cedar Rapids and Megan Young of Toddville; a great-nephew, Zane Young also of Toddville; her uncle and aunt, Neville and Helen Barnard of Vinton; her cousin, Ray Herbert (Mary Ann) Barnhard of Vinton; and her five beloved cats, Reeses, Maddie, Comet, Wrigley and Mr. Man.
She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Ray and Neva Barnard; and her cat, Cozy.
Dee’s family will meet with friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
