Thelma Frederick
LANARK -- Thelma E. Frederick, 90, of Lanark died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at OGH Medical Center in Sterling.
She was born Dec. 25, 1913, the first of six children, to Milton and Lottie (Diehl) Traum in Lanark. On Sept. 7, 1936, Thelma and Lynn Ferderick were married in Moline. Mr. Frederick died April 6, 1966.
Thelma attended Lanark schools. She was a homemaker and a cafeteria employee at Lanark High School, retiring from the school in 1985 after 20 years working there.
Mrs. Frederick was a member of the First Brethren Church in Lanark.
Thelma will always be remembered for her kind ways and warm smile.
Survivors include daughter, Connie (Roger) Knutti of Lanark; son, Dennis (Debra) Frederick of Michigan City, Ind.; grandchildren, Bradley Knutti of Rockford, Kristen (Kurt) Simpson of Lanark, Dr. Jennifer (Jason) Frederick-Adkisson of Atlanta, Ga., Bridget Frederick and Michael Frederick, both of Michigan City, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Jenna and Nicholas Simpson, both of Lanark,; sisters, Belva Buss of Mayban, Texas, Mildred (Bernard) Diehl of Lanark, Betty (Rex) Peugh of Coleta; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Randall and Melvin; and her grandson Bradley's wife, Kellye.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Russell-Frank Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Schubert will officiate. Burial will be held in the Lanark Cemetery. Visitation services will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Lanark Public Library or a charity of choice.
David L. Holland
ELIZABETH -- David L. "Froggy" Holland, 68, of Elizabeth passed away on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, surrounded by his family.
David was born on Jan. 12, 1936, in Woodbine Township, the son of Wesley and Marie (Handt) Holland. On Nov. 12, 1960, David was united in marriage with Shirley Thompson in Stockton.
David graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1955. Earlier in life he was a feed salesman for the JoDaviess Service Co. In the latter part of his working life, David was a cheese maker for Kraft (Stockton Cheese) company, until retiring in January 1999.
David was a volunteer fireman in Elizabeth for many years. He also volunteered with the Red Cross, donating more than 16 gallons of blood throughout his life.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.
David enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandkids and friends.
David will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley of Elizabeth; two daughters, Sharon (Jeff) Randecker of Elizabeth and Suzette (David) Schumacher of Chaska, Minn.; four grandchildren, Justin and Ryan Randecker and Jeremy and Allison Schumacher; two brothers Raymond "Doc" (Marilyn) Holland of Elizabeth, and Lawrence Holland of Galena; two sisters, Bertha (Harold) Herrmann of Rock City and Ruth (Harlan) Marks of Apple River; and one sister-in-law, Mary Holland of Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Albert Holland; and two sisters, Freda Lisk and Lucille Peska. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Elizabeth. Father Christopher Kuhn will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation for David will be held today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. A 4th Degree Knights of Columbus service will begin at 8 p.m.
A general memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in David's name.
Marilyn J. Kaiser
ARCO, Idaho -- Marilyn Joan Kaiser, 76, of Arco, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was under the care of Aspen Hospice.
Marilyn was born April 20, 1928, in Freeport, the daughter of Nelson and Dorothy Standring Staas. In 1948, she married Robert Kaiser of Shannon. Marilyn and Robert celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 5, 2004.
She spent many years working as mall director at Freeport Lincoln Mall. She was an excellent seamstress.
Following retirement, Marilyn and Bob moved to Arco where they enjoyed their children, grandchildren and camping in the mountains.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Robert Kaiser of Arco; two daughters, Wendy (Robert) Nobles and Sally (Rob) Chace, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; a son, Randy (Claire Ann) Kaiser of Ellensburg, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Norma Klipping of Lena, Audrey (Bob) Vohlken of Jackson, Mich., and Dolores Lindfors of Raleigh, N.C.
No public services are planned.

Bernice M. Kilker
FORRESTON -- Bernice Marjorie Kilker, 86, of Forreston died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Neighbors Nursing Center in Byron.
She was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Lincoln Township, Ogle County, the daughter of Henry and Hannah Welp Kilker.
Miss Kilker was a housekeeper.
She was a member of Forreston Grove Church and enjoyed gardening, going out with her friends and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Surviving her are one nephew, Eldon Stukenberg of Forreston; one niece, Lorna (Jim) Boyd of Freeport; two grandnieces, Pam (Gary) White of Forreston and Ann (Ed) Drehmer of Freeport; one great-grandnephew, Benjamin; and three great-grandnieces, Ashley and Amber White and Madeline Drehmer.
Preceding her in death were two sisters and one brother.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston. Burial will be held at Forreston Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Forreston Grove Church.
Alice R. McCulloch
FREEPORT -- Alice R. McCulloch, 97, of Freeport died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Parkview Home.
Born Sept. 10, 1906, in Freeport, she was the daughter of William and Kathryn (Sandrock) Kampmeier. Alice married John Rutledge Aug. 13, 1927. Mr. Rutledge died April 5, 1983. Alice married Emerson "Mac" G. McCulloch on Dec. 7, 1985. Mr. McCulloch died April 9, 2003.
Alice was a lifetime member of St. John United Church of Christ and a member of Eastern Star.
She worked at Freeport Printing, St. Francis Hospital and Deaconess Hospital before retiring.
She enjoyed decorating and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her nieces Betty Wessel of Freeport, Lynn Clark of Hartsville, Tenn., Norma (Doug) Frater of Richmond, Calif., and Jean (Jim) Pope, of Medford, Ore.; one nephew, David Crockett of Fair Oaks, Calif.; stepson, Joel (Kaye) McCulloch of Grafton, Wis.; one stepdaughter-in-law, Marcia McCulloch of San Diego; four stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; grandnephews, Dan (Pamela) Wessel of Freeport, Doug (Debbie) Wessel of Hayword, Wis., and Steve (Mary) Clark of Lacrosse, Wis.; grandnieces, Lisa (Matthew) Steva of DeForest, Wis., and Judy (Mark) Abbotoy of Hartsville, Tenn.; and several great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Her parents; husbands; one adopted daughter, Delores Rotta; one stepson; and one grandnephew, Tom Wessel, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John United Church of Christ with the Rev. Donnley Dutcher officiating. Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Thursday to time of service at St. John United Church of Christ.

Terry D. Seidemann
MOUNT CARROLL -- Terry Drake Seidemann, age 54, of Mount Carroll died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at home.
Terry was born Feb. 22, 1950, in Kenosha, Wis., the son of Frederick and Mary (Drake) Seidemann II. Terry married Gail Propper on June 5, 1999, at Pleasant Valley Church in Stockton.
Terry was a machinist for Savanna Army Depot and was transferred to the McAlester Army Depot in Oklahoma, where he worked until his retirement.
His hobbies included building birdhouses, boating, water-skiing, taking his grandchildren on the river, traveling and taking care of his dogs. Terry also enjoyed hunting. He was very proud to have been taught to hunt by his son, Tracy.
Surviving is his loving wife, Gail; one son, Tracy (Stephanie) Seidemann of Fulton; three daughters, Darlene (Ronald Buckwalters) Carte of Mount Carroll, DeAnn (Jim) Bartley of Gridley, Deana (Wayne) Boyer of Savanna; five stepchildren, Rhonda (Tracy) Reitz of Hanover, Kim (Ken) Walling of Clinton, Iowa, Amy (Christopher) Nelson of Chadwick, Jesse (Heather) Nelson of Mount Carroll and Joshua (Teri) Nelson of Fox Lake, Wis.; 28 grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Teresa) Seidemann of Freeport; one sister, Dorothy (Thomas) Nord of Freeport; and one brother-in-law, Ron (Judy) Tobin of Freeport.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Sandra Tobin, and one brother, Frederick Seidemann III.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. The Rev. Robert Phelps of Pleasant Valley/Berreman Church of God will officiate. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mount Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Terry's name.
A luncheon will be served following the services at the cemetery at Savanna Moose Lodge.
Dean A. Wolfrom
WARREN -- Dean A. Wolfrom, 52, of Warren died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born Sept. 29, 1951, in Savanna, the son of Glen E. and Wilma (Trost) Wolfrom. On Sept. 21, 1996, Dean and Lila Krupke were married at Paradise Cove Park in Winslow.
Mr. Wolfrom had previously been employed as an insurance adjuster at Economy Fire and Casualty.
He was associated with Nora Community Church in Nora, and enjoyed hobbies as fishing and family genealogy on the computer.
Surviving are his wife, Lila of Warren; his mother Wilma Wolfrom of Warren; two sons, Doug (Tera) Wolfrom of Lena and Joel (Cortney) Wolfrom of Freeport; two stepsons, Mark (Stacy) Hellwig, USAF, of Dover, Del., and Trent (Jennifer) Hellwig, USAF, stationed in Japan; six grandchildren; one brother, Wallie (Becky) Wolfrom of St. Joseph, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, Glen, on March 19, 2001; and one sister, Connie Sue Wolfrom.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Wilber of Nora Community Church officiating. Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
Visitation time is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Beth R. Dame
FREEPORT -- Beth Ruth Dame, 89, formerly of 810 Monroe Drive, passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Stephenson Nursing Center.
Beth was born on March 29, 1915 in Hanover. She grew up in rural Stockton and Elizabeth, graduating from Elizabeth High School.
As a young girl, she and her brother, Lynn, delivered lunches and pies made by their mother by bicycle to highway workers.
She met a young baseball pitcher, Jim Dame, and they were married on Nov. 24, 1934, in Galena, and they made their home in Freeport.
Beth worked at Read's department store and retired after 21 years at Micro Switch.
Beth loved gardening and spending many hours tending her beautiful flowers. She was an excellent cook and crossword puzzle solver. Many who did not know Beth well remember her for her seasonally decorated fence, facing West Street.
Surviving are her husband, Jim Dame; sons, Larry Dame of Freeport, and Don Dame and wife, Joyce, of Aurora; a daughter, Doris Dickinsen, and husband, Neil, of Yakima, Wash.; grandchildren, Kim and Pete Musgrove of Naperville, Kelly and Rich Schell of Chicago, Chris Dame of Chicago, Denise Dickinsen of Columbia, S.C., Christine Dickinsen of Vancouver, Wash., Marie and Chick Williams of Loveland, Colo., Brad Dame and wife, Stephanie, of Chicago, Mike and Karen Dame of Ann Arbor, Mich., Elaine Dame of Chicago, Jenny Dame and husband of Minnesota.; eight great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Darlene Read of Elizabeth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Blanche and Robert Read; brothers, Burton, Lynn and Bobby Read; one sister, Shirley Hoefle; and son, Jim Dame Jr.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, with Tom Hoefle officiating. Burial will be held in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, with a reception following at Second Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

NEW YORK -- Donald J. Doelker Jr., 56, of New York, formerly of Freeport, died Friday, July 30, 2004, in New York.
Memorial services will be held in New York.
Clara J. Fritzenmeier
FREEPORT -- Clara J. Fritzenmeier, 85, of Freeport died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born June 15, 1919, in Freeport, she was the daughter of Ernest and Lena (Builte) Fritzenmeier.
Clara worked for Micro Switch, retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and sang in the church choir for many years. She loved being home with her sister Louise, having her several nieces and nephews come over and taking care of them all. She also liked her neighbors and neighboring with them. Clara was an animal lover, and was especially fond of dogs.
Survivors include her sister, Louise Fritzenmeier of Freeport; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Walker Mortuary, Freeport, with the Rev. Donnley Dutcher of St. John United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Walker Mortuary.

Donald Kaufman
MOUNT CARROLL -- Donald "Don" Preston Kaufman, 78, of Mount Carroll died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his home.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mount Carroll, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Mount Carroll.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today at the church.

Robert G. Kuntz
FREEPORT -- Robert George Kuntz, a lifelong Freeport resident, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Freeport Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Mr. Kuntz was born April 27, 1923 in Freeport to George William and Clara (Luedeking) Kuntz. He served with the U.S. Army, in the European Theater, during World War II, with the 665th Ordnance Ammunition Company. On Jan. 5, 1946, he married Betty Lou Kraft.
From 1946 to 1976, Bob owned and operated the Sizzle Shop, a local diner noted for doughnuts and cheeseburgers. The American Business Women's Association named him "Boss of the Year." Other business interests included Inky Prints and One Hour Martinizing.
While still running the Sizzle Shop, Bob entered the real estate business in the early 1960s. He served as president of the Freeport Board of Realtors in 1977, 1978 and 1990. In 1996, he was honored as Realtor of the Year.
Bob served on the Stephenson County Board for 13 years, including two years as finance chairman. He also served on the Freeport Planning Commission for seven years and was a member of Embury United Methodist Church for 58 years. He was past president of the Lions Club, member of the American Legion, AmVets, Freeport Country Club, Elks Club, Eagles Club, Germania Club and the PAG Club.
He enjoyed playing golf until age 80 and was proud of shooting three holes-in-one.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Norma Balles; and a brother, William Kuntz.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Kuntz; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Steve Kading of Greeley, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Darles Kuntz of St. Peters, Mo.; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, and Elizabeth Kading, and Geoffrey and Darci Kuntz. He is also survived by nephews, Bill (Ruth) Kuntz, and Larry (Lana) Kuntz; and one niece, Pam (Dan) Wessel, all of Freeport. Other nephews and nieces include Michael and Robert Garrity, Peggy Cerra, Susan Bish, Paul and Matthew Schirmer, and Sandra and Natalie Kraft.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Embury United Methodist Church, with Rev. D. Robin Benson officiating.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
