Catherine Richards
FREEPORT -- Catherine E. Richards, 92, of Freeport died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at her home.
Born March 19, 1912 in Freeport, she was the daughter of John and Florence (Welch) Popkes. She was a 1929 graduate of Freeport High School. Catherine married Oliver Richards on Aug. 1, 1934 at St. Mary Catholic Church. He died on April 3, 1978.
She was employed as a secretary at Structo Manufacturing Co. from 1929 to 1942. She was employed at Micro Switch from 1942 until retiring in 1972.
Catherine was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Mary (Kenneth) Young.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Burt H. Absalon officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Thomas Fenwick, Sr.
MCHENRY -- Thomas M. Fenwick, Sr., 84, of McHenry died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
He was born March 28, 1920 in Lebanon, Ky., to James Leroy and Annabell (Wathen) Fenwick. On June 24, 1950 he married Ruth Reihansperger at St. Patrick's Church in McHenry.
He was a member of St. Patrick Church and McHenry Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an Army veteran of WWII, having been discharged from the 11th Infantry. He had served in the Battle of the Bulge, Tunisia, Naples, Rome and southern France, serving for more than four and a half years.
Thomas loved to read and also was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Cubs and Bears.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Julie (Kenneth) Magrath of Norwalk, Conn.; one son, Thomas (Moira) Fenwick Jr. of Freeport; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Peter Magrath, and Nolan and Caitlin Fenwick; one sister, Mary Margaret Fenwick of Lebanon, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leroy and Wathen; and one sister, Eloise.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Church, McHenry. Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, before proceeding to the church.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mary C. Sieber
SUMTER, S.C. -- Mary C. Sieber, 60, of Sumter, S.C., died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Albany, Ky., she was a daughter of Georgia Brown Stockton and the late Hunley O. Stockton. She was formerly married to the late Mike Sieber.
She was employed by Verizon Telephone and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her mother of Freeport; two sons, John Sieber of Deluth, Ga., and Nick Sieber of Sumter; four sisters, Judy Kaney and her husband, Jim, of Forreston; Joyce Mordick and her husband, Kenneth "Pete" of Freeport, Terry Martin of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Nancy Franz of Freeport; one brother, Steven Stockton and his wife, Deborah of Byron; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Sieber; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with Deacon Lawrence Corum officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Florence Webster
FREEPORT - Florence M. Webster, 99, loving mother and grandmother, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport where she resided the past three years.
She was born Jan. 21, 1905 in Prophetstown, the daughter of August and Tena (Meyer) Gerdes. On Jan. 28, 1928, Florence married Kenneth O. Webster at Milledgeville. Mr. Webster died Nov. 27, 1974.
A homemaker, she also was employed at Ford Hopkins Drug Store, Mid City Grill and Newell Company, all in Freeport.
Mrs. Webster was a member of Dakota Community Presbyterian Church and the Sunshine Club of Davis.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting afghans, playing cards, and she especially enjoyed her family.
Survivors include six sons, Richard (Marlene) Webster of Davis, Edwin (Cynthia) Webster of Freeport, Carl (Shirley) Webster of Rockford, Charles (Judy) Webster of Freeport, James (Sue) Webster of Asheboro, N.C., and Clyde (Rita) Webster of Cherry Valley; five daughters, Mabel (James) Gift of Freeport, Phyllis (Veryln) Vietmeyer of Daytona Beach, Fla., Betty (Richard) Brubaker of German Valley, Norma Jean Webster, a resident of Stephenson Nursing Center, and Wilma (Donald) Nath of Freeport; 32 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Pilgrim of Milledgeville; two brothers, George (Elvira) Gerdes of Lanark and Robert (Jean) Gerdes of Tampico; and many nieces and nephews.
Those who preceded her in death were her husband, Kenneth; one son, Harold L. Webster; two grandsons, Robert Webster and Jeffery Webster; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Wirth Webster; six sisters and four brothers.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Dakota Community Presbyterian Church. The Rev. L. Timothy Kidd will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum in Freeport.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 115 S. West St., Dakota, and from 9:30 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church.
A memorial fund has been established in her name by the family.
Jeffery T. Webster
ASHEBORO, N.C. -- Jeffery Todd Webster, age 36, of 480 Nassau Trail, Asheboro, N.C., died Friday, July 30, 2004 at Mariner Health Care in Asheboro.
He was born Nov. 19, 1967, in Freeport, the son of James R. and Barbara (Wirth) Webster.
Mr. Webster was a native of Dakota, attended Dakota schools and was a member of Dakota Community Presbyterian Church. He moved with his family to Asheboro in 1984. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 571 and was formerly employed with Randolph Mall, Prestige Fabricators and the Sheltered Workshop.
He is survived by father and his wife, Jim and Susan Webster of Asheboro; brothers and their wives, Tim and Tina Webster and Chris and Jenny Webster, both of Randleman, N.C.; paternal grandmother, Florence Webster of Freeport; nieces, Haley, Ashley and Peyton; nephew, Dylan; Susan's parents Winnie and Joe Long; and aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives too numerous to mention.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Wirth Webster, in 1992; and grandparents, Kenneth Webster and Stanley and Dorothy Wirth.
Funeral services were held Sunday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. W. Russell Ward Jr. and the Rev. Happy Foster Kinnear officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Dakota Cemetery with Jeff's uncle, Pastor Greg F. White of Grace Baptist Church in Harlan, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be conducted by Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Dakota Community Presbyterian Church following services.

Christina M. Saxby
WARREN -- Christina (Tina) Mae Saxby, 68, of Warren passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Freeport Memorial Hospital.
She was the second of six children born to Neily O. and Thelma (Matthews) Hammond of Freeport on Sept. 4, 1935.
Christina attended Freeport schools before becoming a mother and homemaker. She then became a nurses aid at Freeport Manor Nursing Home. She was a dedicated employee at the manor for 32 years, having retired from employment on July 28.
She will be remembered by the staff for her devotion, thoughtfulness, love and kindness shown to each of her patients that were under her care.
Christina was an active member of Family Christian Center.
She is survived by her husand, Ron of Warren; two daughters, Debra Carson of Mondovi, Wis., and Donna Eisen of Onalaska, Wis.; eight grandchilren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Neily O. (Janet) Hammond Jr. of Freeport; three sisters, Carol Grossglauser, Sharon (Stuart) Dailey, and Linda (Hank) Fortney, all of Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jack (Janice) Hammond.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Chapel Hill with visitation being held at 1 p.m. Friday with Pastor Fred Woodruff officiating.
Burial will be at Chapel Hill in the memorial gardens.

APPLE CANYON LAKE -- Evelyn T. Clemmans, 71, of Apple Canyon Lake died suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

FREEPORT -- Albert E. Marney, 70, of Freeport died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

Valerie D. Nelson
PECATONICA -- Valerie D. Bush Nelson, 74, of Pecatonica, formerly of Kingman, Ind., died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Rockford Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 12, 1930, in Centerline, Mich., to Richard and Elizabeth (Drake) Bush. She worked for Fountain Trust Co. in Kingman, Ind. until 1978, when she moved to northern Illinois. She then worked for Rockford Powertrain until she retired in 1995. She was presently employed at Kmart in Loves Park.
Nelson was a member of First Congregation United Church of Christ of Pecatonica; Stonewall Cafe Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club; Pecatonica Woman's Club; Fountain Chapter OES No. 204; Thursday AM Ladies Bowling League; Tuesday Ladies Night Birthday Club; and was a former member of Waterman Baptist Church.
She was a No. 1 Pecatonica Indians fan. She collected all types of chicken and rooster figurines and decorations.
Nelson graduated from Tangier High School class of 1947 and attended Moody Bible Institute, Bob Jones University and Rock Valley College.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn (Jack) Thompson of Kingman, Ind., and Lisa (Brad) Mitchell of Pecatonica; seven grandchildren, Alison (Chad) Bailey, Leann (Steve) Wood, Erin and Kayla Thompson, and George, Douglas and Emily Mitchell; and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Ashlyn Bailey; three brothers, Wallace (Pat) Bush of Kingman, Ind., Joe (Betty) Bush of Edgar Springs, Mo., and Gary (Maria) Bush of Lexinton, Ind.; and several neices, nephews and cousins. Special friends Marian, Gaile, Irene, Donna, Sue, Sandra and many more.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gregory Wayne Dowers; her husband, Jim Nelson; one sister, Edna Marilee Bush; two brothers, Dick and Byron Bush; three sisters-in-law, Bea Bush, Frances Bush, and Patricia M. Bush; and four nephews.

Durwood E. Weier
FREEPORT -- Durwood E. "Skip" Weier, 62, of Freeport died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born June 4, 1942, in Freeport, he was the son of Robert and Bertha (Krueger) Weier. He graduated from Freeport Senior High School in 1961. Durwood and Geraldine M. Johnson were married in 1962 in Freeport.
Mr. Weier was a bus driver for the Pearl City School system and worked for Freeport Country Club.
An avid outdoorsman, Skip enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are four daughters, Melissa (Jeff) Everson of Monroe, Wis., Flora Weier of Rockford, Alice (Rick) Edwards of Stockton and Nanette (Ray) Maher of Freeport; two sisters, Linda (Robert) Downing of Freeport and Karla Ritchey of Grayville; two brothers, Woody (Carol) Weier of Cedarville and David (Lavonne) Weier of Glenwood, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Dustin Edwards, Justin Everson, Kimberlee Everson, Bill Edwards, Jordan Everson, Toryanna Rossi, Donovan Rossi and Paige Haas.
His parents; one brother, Robert; and one sister, Alice, preceded him in death.

Sylvester Gapinski
LAKE VILLA --Sylvester "Sy" J. Gapinski, 73, of Lake Villa passed away on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1930, in Gilman, Minn., the son of the late Frank B. and Bernice Gapinski. He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. On Aug. 25, 1955, he married Yvonne Ahles.
A resident of the Lake Villa area for the past 41 years, he was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lake Villa. Sy was a past member of the Moose Club's Waukegan Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Yvonne; his children, Judy (Bruce) Gyllin of Wisconsin, Susan (Robin) Liddell of Lake Zurich, Calvin (Alice) Gapinski of Lake Villa, Carol (George R. Jr.) Jackson of Woodstock, Kenneth (Susan) Gapinski of Lena, Karl (Jenny) Gapinski of Lake Villa, Mark (Colleen McClory) Gapinski of Crystal Lake, and Kathleen (Jason) Peters of Georgia; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his brothers, Eugene, Dennis, David and Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard.
The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from Ringa Funeral Home, 122 S. Route 83 (Milwaukee Avenue), Lake Villa, Ill. 60046, to the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. to Prince of Peace Church, Lake Villa. Interment will be in Willow Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Mundelein.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Jeffrey M. Peterson
ROCKFORD -- Jeffrey M. Peterson, 46, of Rockford died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in Rockford.
Born Dec. 1, 1957, in Freeport, he was the son of Norman and Sylvia A. (Grindey) Peterson. He was a 1975 graduate of Freeport High School and Highland Auto Tech School in 1977.
He had been employed by Napleton Auto Werks of Rockford. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and downhill skiing.
Survivors include two sisters, Marsha (Jim) Noller of Lena, and Susan (Alan) Trentmann of Eureka, Mo.; nieces and nephews, Amy (Scott) Boeke of North Augusta, S.C., Erin (Layne) Bidlingmaier of Winslow, Neil (Sara) Noller of Lena, Eric and David Trentmann of Eureka; great-nieces, Grace Bidlingmaier, Janna Bidlingmaier and Shannon Noller; and great-nephews, Bryce Boeke and Nathan Noller.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lena Burial Park, Lena, with Pastor Rick Bader officiating.
There will be no visitation.
