Neponset - Randall E. “Randy” Spring, 52, of rural Neponset, Illinois died at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at his home. He was born on March 24, 1953 in Macomb, Illinois the son of Sam and Joyce (Caldwell) Spring. He graduated from Alexis High School in 1971. He married Nancy Nelson on May 25, 1974 in Elmira, Illinois.
She survives along with his parents of North Henderson, Illinois; two brothers Chris (Lynne) Spring, of Oneida, Ilinois; Jr. (Dee) Spring, of Rockford, Illinois; three sisters; Pam (Stuart) Bjorgan, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota., Sally Logsdon, of Madison, Michigan and Michele (Brett) Jones, of Tampico, Illinois; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and one nephew.
He had farmed in the Neponset area and earlier had worked for Elmira Township and Hatzer & Nordstrom Equipment Co. in Annawan. He was a member of the Stark County Farm Bureau and the Kewanee and Galva Bowling Associations. He enjoyed bowling, was a St. Louis Cardinal and Green Bay Packers fan and loved spending time with his family.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Illinois. Rev. Terry Lancaster of the Mineral United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the Osceola, Illinois Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 9 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Neponset Fire District or the Kewanee Hospital Foundation.

Kewanee - Doris Aileen Davis, 78, of Kewanee, Illinois died at 7:55 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2005 at Royal Oaks Health Care Center in Kewanee. She was born on September 12, 1926 in Toulon, Illinois the daughter of John Hardy and Ethel (Buskirk) Porter. She was reared and educated in Toulon.
She married Robert Ellis Davis. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Porter.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. (Marge) Davis and Robert M. Davis, all of Kewanee, Illinois; one daughter, Beth A. (Paul) Wiese, of Sheffield, Illinois; three grandchildren; one great grandchild, and one brother, Bob Porter, of Wyoming., Illinois.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a nurses aide and later Activities Director for the former Leisure Hills and Kewanee Convalescent Center, now Royal Oaks.
She enjoyed NASCAR and was a Dallas Cowboys fan.
Graveside services were at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2005. Pastor Dan Craig officiated. There was no visitation. The Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial fund has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Camp Grove - James C. McGinn, 84, of rural Camp Grove, died at 5:03 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at Manor Care Health Services, Peoria.
He was born on February 16, 1921, in Henry, the son of James A. and Claudia Bickerman McGinn. He married D. Ileene Kirchgessner on December 28, 1946, in Peoria. She died on May 7, 1990, in Peoria. Also preceding him in death was one sister, Marion Shoemaker, and two grandsons, Ryan McGinn and Matthew Hooker.
Surviving are four daughters, Christine (Tim) Hooker, of Woodstock, Illinois, Patricia (Larry) Hepperly, of Pontiac, Illinois, Marsha (Mark) Stoltz and Linda (Steven) Nolan, both of Peoria, Illinois; four sons, Jim (Nancy), of Peoria, Illinois, Denny (Michelle), of Wyoming., Illinois, Mike (Anne), of LaGrange, Illinois, and Jerry (Kay), of Westminster, Colorado; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jack, Bill, and Pat McGinn ; and one sister, Carolyn Parsons.
He was a WWII Army Veteran receiving a Bronze Star while serving in the European Theatre as a 1st Lieutenant. He attended Bradley University, Peoria. He farmed and was a carpenter in the Camp Grove area for many years. He was a member of the Bradford Lion’s Club and a past member of the Camp Grove Fire Department.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where a funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2005. Rev. Robert Rayson officiated. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Wyoming. Funeral Home, Wyoming., with recitation of the Rosary at 8 p.m. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Midwest Affiliate or to his church.

Dunlap – Russell G. Scheeler, 79, of Dunlap, died at 1:43 a.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2005, at Proctor Hospital Emergency Department.
He was born on September 19, 1925, in Dunlap, the son of Edward and Mildred Calhoun Scheeler. He married W. Caryl Tuttle on September 11, 1949, in Dunlap, Illinois.
She survives, along with three sons, Stephen (Susan) Scheeler, Rex (Cindy) Scheeler, both of Dunlap, and Joseph (Tamara) Scheeler, of Johns Island, South Carolna; three daughters, E. Kayleen (Michael) Kraft, of Dunlap, Illinois, Marlyn S. (Dennis) Geier, of Edwards, Illinois, and Margaret J. (Scott) Lindell, of Morton, Illinois; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (Glenn) Giffin, of Edelstein, Illinois, and Barbara J. (David) Rawls, of Rocklin, California.
He was preceded in death by one son, Toby J. Scheeler, in 1960.
He farmed in the Dunlap area all of his life. He was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church, Peoria, and of the Church of Siesta Bay in Fort Myers, Florida.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at the Fellowship Bible Church, 4006 N. Sterling, Peoria. Rev. Roger Bower officiated. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at the church, as well as one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery, Dunlap.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Bible Church Missionary Fund. Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, is in charge of arrangements.

Wyoming. – Steven Ray Larson, 52, of 1004 N Main St., died at 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2005, at his residence.
He was born on July 25, 1953, in Peoria, the son of Frank and Dena Brazee Larson.
Surviving is his brother, Kevin, of Wyoming., Illinois; one nephew, Tony Larson, of LaFayette, Indiana; and an aunt and uncle, Jim and Janet Slazwitz, of Wyoming., Illinois. His parents preceded him in death.
A graduate of Wyoming. High School, he worked as an operator at F.M.C. in Wyoming. for 23 years.
A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2005, at Wyoming. Cemetery. There was no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kewanee Hospital Hospice or to the Wyoming. Ambulance Service.
Wyoming. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Princeville – Leonard Dean Grove, 71, of Princeville, died at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2005, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.
He was born on July 4, 1934, in Washburn, Illinois, the son of Wilmuth Grove Danzer {father’s name is unavailable}. He married Patricia E. Schaffer on December 30, 1990, in Wallas, Texas.
She survives, along with one son, Eric J. (Robin) Grove, of Ellisville, Illinois; two daughters, Vanessa (Phil) Goedeke, of Yates City, Illinois, and Linette (Larry) Cramer, of Norwood, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; one brother, George (Roberta) Danzer, of Bartonville; and one sister, Lois (Bill) Wickwire, of Pinckneyville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graduate of Elmwood High School, he was a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957. He worked as a truck driver for Kroger in East Peoria for 29 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Teamster’s Local 627, Peoria, and of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Princeville.
Cremation has been accorded. A Memorial Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2005, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Monsignor Richard Soseman officiated. Burial of ashes followed in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery. The family received friends in the church fellowship hall following the graveside service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital, 800 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO 65201.
Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Peoria – Kathryn R. Pauli, 96, of St. Joseph Home, died at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2005, at Manorcare Home in Peoria, Illinois.
She was born on September 3, 1908, in Princeville, Illinois to Fred and Mary (Hietter) Brutcher. She married Gerald E. Pauli on December 26, 1935, in Wyoming., Illinois. He died on December 10, 1983, in Peoria.
Surviving are two daughters, Geralyn (Larry) Andrews, of Watertown, Wisconsin, and Susan (Jack) Lambert, of Peoria Heights, Illinois; three sons, Gregg (Cathi) Pauli, of Hanna City, Illinois, Michael (Peggy) Pauli, of Peoria, Illinois, and Steve (Candie) Pauli, of Peoria Heights, Illinois; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
She graduated from Kindergarten Primary Training School in Peoria. She was a school teacher in Wyoming., Illinois, Peoria County, and Southside Catholic Schools for 23 years, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, TeDeum, and former St. Cecilias Senior Citizens Club.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Franciscan Friars officiated. Visitation was on Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Further visitation was a half hour before funeral services at the church. Entombment was in Resurrection Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis of The Immaculate Conception of Donors Choice.

Princeville – Paul D. Higgs, 93, a resident of Heartland Health Care Center, Canton, since March of 2004, and a long-time resident of Princeville, died at 2:23 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2005, at Graham Hospital, Canton.
He was born on January 23, 1912, near Trivoli, Illinois, the son of Harry Bruce and Lena Pettow Higgs. He married Lois E. LaMay on June 21, 1933, at White’s Grove in Peoria County. She died on March 27, 2004, in Canton. Also preceding him in death was one great-granddaughter, two brothers, and two sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Paul (Margie), of Rochelle, Illinois, and Richard Harold (Kathy), of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one daughter, Marilyn (Brian) Telander, of Cuba, Illinois; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Higgs, of Peoria.
A faithful Christian, he was a 63 year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Princeville, where he served as an Elder for 27 years and Clerk of the Session. He farmed in Princeville Township for 50 years and his interest in agriculture extended to his serving as president and board member of the Monica Elevator CO-OP and his association with the ASCS office. He was a member of the Peoria County Farm Bureau and was also honorary chapter farmer with the Princeville FFA. He was a 50 year member of the Princeville Lodge #360 AF&AM.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at his church. Rev. Harry Losey officiated. Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. to the time of the funeral service at the church. Burial was in Princeville Cemetery.

Doris Winfield - (Toulon) - Doris (Eber) Winfield, 95, formerly of Augusta, died at 5:55pm Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Toulon Health Care Center.
Born March 7, 1906, near Columbus in Adams County to ALfred Leanoard and Nina Trout Eber, she married Ernest Winfield on July 18, 1925, in Carthage. He died June 16, 1990.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Sid Winfield; one sister, two brothers; three half sisters; and one half brother.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Judy) Ingels of Wyoming., IL, and Mrs. Guy (Betty) Compton of Dallas; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Pruitt of Pryor, OK; and one half brother, Carl Gray of Quincy.
She and her husband owned and operated Mindale Store for many years, and she also worked at Stieners Hardware.
She was a member of Rebekah Lodge.
She was a member of Augusta Christian Church.
Services will be at 1:30pm today (4/14) at Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta. The Rev. Matt Haberman will officiate. Friends may call after 8am today at the funeral home, where the family will meet with friends one hour before services. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point.
Memorials may be made to any charity.

Jacob Summy - (Toulon) - Services for Jacob William Summy, 8, of 408 N. Elm St. will be at 11am Thursday (4/12) at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home in Toulon. The Rev. David Lynn will officiate.
He was pronounced dead at 4:45pm Saturday, April 7, 2001, at the scene of a four-vehicle accident on Illinois Route 40 just south of Edelstein.
Visitation will be from 6-9pm Wednesday (4/11) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery.
He was born January 21, 1993, in Galesburg to John William and Angela King Summy.
Surviving are his parents of Toulon; three sisters, Alizabeth, Amber and Jennifer, all at home; his grandparents, Mariam and Jim Pletkovich of Neponset, James and Margaret King of Florida and Francis and Judy Quagliano of Kewanee; his great-grandmother, Hazel Boswell of Kewanee; and several aunts and uncles.
A second-grader at Toulon Grade School, he loved to play chess.
He was a member of the Toulon Baseball League, Stark County Soccer League and played floor hockey and flag football through the Kewanee YMCA.
He was well known among his peers for his Nintendo skills.
He was an avid roller blader.
Memorials may be made to the Toulon Baseball League, to Kewanee YMCA or a charity of one's choice.

Louis Peterson - (Toulon) - Louis Allen Peterson, 53, of Toulon, formerly of Kewanee and Galva, died at 2:25pm Thursday, April 5, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Kewanee to Francis and Roberta Hauger Peterson.
Surviving are his father and stepmother, Francis and Nelma Peterson of Moline; his stepfather and mother, John and Roberta "Becky" Kuster of Galva; one brother, Kenneth of Kewanee; six sisters, Mrs. Alan (Susan) Kitterman of Flanagan, Rose Mulder and Mrs. Don (Cynthia) Collinson, both of Galva, Mrs. Tom (Sandra) Brock of Cambridge, Jean Turner of Kewanee and Mrs. Doug (Linnea) Meadow of Abingdon; one half sister, Jewel Peterson; two stepsisters, Mrs. Don (Sue) Pace of Iowa City, IA, and Mrs. Jim (Sheila) Ulmer of Colona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three infant children.
He received a degree in X-ray technology from Kewanee Public Hospital in 1969 and served in the Army at the Army hospital in Fort Sam Houston in Texas from 1969 to 1972.
He later worked at hospitals in Craig, CO, Geneseo and Tallahassee, FL, before returning to Toulon in 1996.
He was a memeber of State Road Community Church in rural Kewanee, where a memorial service will be at 11am Tuesday (4/10). The Rev. Max York will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11am Tuesday (4/10) at the church. Cremation will be accorded, and inurnment of ashes will be in Galva Cemeterey, where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Arrangements are by Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee.

Sterling Sornberger - (Oneida) - Sterling A. Sornberger, 84, of 132 S. Sage died at 7:20pm Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.
Born Jan. 20, 1917, in Victoria to John and Maude Parker Sornberger, he married Ruth Ziegler on Nov. 14, 1942, in Palmyra, MO. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Les (Connie) Carlson of Oneida; one son, Roger (and Judy) of Toulon; one brother, A.W. "Sandy" of Victoria; and five grandchildren.
Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
A WWII Army veteran serving in Europe, he was a member and past commander of Charles A. Warrensford American Legion Post 726 in Victoria.
A member of the United Mine Workers of America, he worked at coal mines in Wyoming., IL and Victoria, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of United Metodist Church in Victoria. He also was a member of the Little John Conservation Club in Victoria.
He was a member of the Wednesday Men's Senior Bowling League in Galesburg.
Services were held at 11am Wednesday (3/28) at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Oneida, where visitation was one hour before. The Rev. Marty Briney officiated. Burial was in Victoria Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by his American Legion post.
Memorials may be made to his church air conditioning fund or to Community Hospices of America.
