John E. Wake, 83, a resident of Oakwood Health Care Center, Kewanee, formerly of Wyoming., died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2002, at Kewanee Hospital. born June 26, 1919, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Nathan and Minnie Ashton Wake, he married Ellen Puffinbarger George on March 1, 1995, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She survives.
Also surviving are 1 daughter, Marge (Don) Trip of St. Louis, Missouri; 5 sons, James (Madlin) Wake of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Tim (Mary) Wake of Peoria; Fred (Molly) Wake of West Peoria, Illinois; Tom Wake of Chicago, Illinois; and Dennis Johnston of Wyoming.; 2 step-daughters, Deborah (Vaughn) King of Knoxville, Illinois; and Barbara (Marty) Cantwell of Toulon; 3 step-sons, Frankie (Mary) George of Fulton, Illinois; Kenneth (Sharon) George of LaFayette, and James (Jewel) Acton of Shreveport, Louisiana; 10 grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and 4 sisters, Alice (and Lee) Jacobian of Ocean Side, California; Lelia Sutton of St. Charles, Missouri; Lillian Stamper of Pekin, Illinois; and Marge Hausum, of San Diego, California. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran. He owned and operated a meat locker in
Wyoming. and Bradford for many years. He was a member of Wyoming. Lions Club and
Past District Governor of District 1-H Lions. He was a member of Wyoming. American Legion Post #91 and a lifetime member of the Princeville V.F.W. Post. He also was a member of the Wyoming. Fire Department and 40 & 8 Club. He volunteered at Kewanee Hospital and he received an award for saving a life in Bartonville.
He was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Wyoming., where funeral services were held at 10 am Wednesday, November 13, 2002. Rev. Robert Rayson officiated. Visitation was held Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at Wyoming. Funeral Home, with a Lion's Service. Burial will be in Wyoming. Cemetery, Wyoming..

Philip L. Phillips, 87, a resident of the Toulon Health Care Center, Toulon, formerly of Creve Coeur, died at 5:41 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2002, at Kewanee Hospital. born May 16, 1915, in Cornland, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Della McCurry Phillips, he married Josephine Smith in 1957. She died in 1994.
Surviving is 1 nephew, Carl Farnam of Creve Coeur, Illinois. His parents, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
He was a self-employed painter statewide for many years. He was a member of Averyville Baptist Church, East Peoria, Illinois.
Graveside services will be 11a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2002, at Carlyle Cemetery, Lake Fork, Illinois. There will be no visitation.
Elizabeth Anne “Annabelle” Floyd, 33,of Canton, Illinois died at 7:25 pm on November 10, 2002 at Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born February 8, 1969 to David W. (Sonny) Floyd and Velma Bea Vandiver in Peoria, Illinois.
She is survived by her parents of Canton; one brother, David E. (Andrea) Floyd of Canton; one sister Tonya Sue Heath of Canton; her grandfather Windle (Patti) Vandiver of Bechtel Springs, Tennessee, and five aunts, three uncles, two nieces, two nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death of her grandmothers, Geraldine Roe and Wilma Floyd; and her grandfather David B. Floyd.
Graveside services were Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at Wyoming. Cemetery and officiated by Rev. Joe Hamilton.

Amber Renae Santine Spencer, 20, of Kewanee was pronounced dead at 2 pm Saturday, November 9, 2002 along with her fiancé, Mark Heinrich, in their Kewanee home. They were to be married May 17, 2003.
She was born July 4, 1982, in Peoria to Steven A. and Brenda L. Sargent Spencer.
Surviving are her father and stepmother, Steven and Debbie Spencer of LaFayette; her mother and stepfather, Brenda and Rodney Peterson of Toulon; one sister, Rachelle Spencer of Toulon; one half sister, Holly Conlin of Peoria; one half brother, Jason Conlin of Peoria; her grandparents, Santine Spencer of Princeville and James Sargent of Speer; and her great-grandmother, Lenore Feldman of Bartonville.
A 2001 graduate of Stark County High School, she was studying nursing at Black Hawk College East Campus at the time of her death.
While in high school, she worked at Toulon Health Care Center, and at the time of her death was employed at the Kewanee Wal-Mart Supercenter.
She was a member of the Kewanee YMCA. She attended LaFayette United Methodist Church.

Markus Randall “Mark” Heinrich, 25, of Kewanee was pronounced dead at 1 pm Saturday, November 9, 2002, along with his fiancée, Amber Renae Santine Spencer, in their Kewanee home. The couple was to be married on May 17, 2003.
He was born August 28, 1977, in Kewanee, to Randy and Debra Liggett Heinrich. Surviving are his father and stepmother, Randy and Pam Heinrich of Kewanee, his mother and stepfather, Debra and Steve Rigelwood of East Peoria; one sister, Amanda Heinrich of Kewanee, one brother Shawn Liggett of Bradford, one stepbrother, Eric Rigelwood of East Peoria; one stepsister, Stephanie Rigelwood of East Peoria; and his grandparents, Bill and Shirley Blake of Englewood, Florida.
He attended Black Hawk College East Campus from 1995 to 1997.
He worked at Menard’s in Kewanee from 1994 to 1999, Caterpillar from 1999 to 2000 and at the hardware department at the Kewanee Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Services will be at 1 pm, Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church. The Revs. Susan Kent and Rick Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Robert H. Schaad, 80, of LaFayette, formerly of Princeville, died at 5:20 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2002, at Kewanee Hospital. born June 26, 1922, in Princeville, Illinois, the son of John and Ethel Martin Schaad, he married Beverly Rabe. He later married Pauline Sartin on February 14, 1976, in Peoria. She died September 28, 1995, in Peoria.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Swank of Pueblo, Col., and Joelee Schaad of Racine, Wis.; two brothers, Edwin Schaad of Princeville, and Ralph Schaad of Pekin, Ill.; three grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren; four step-sons, Ronald (Carol) Sartin and Steven (Susan) Sartin both of Yates City, Ill., David Sartin of Princeville, and Greg (Shari) Sartin of Chillicothe, Ill.; one step-daughter, Debbie Workman of Princeville; and a special friend, Barb Shambaugh of LaFayette, with whom he made his home. His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Marine Veteran and was a lifetime member of the Princeville Masonic Lodge #360 AF&AM, where he was Past Worshipful Master. He worked in maintenance at Home Comfort in Princeville and later at L.R. Nelson in Princeville, until retiring. He also farmed in the Princeville area.
Masonic services were Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Burial was in Princeville Cemetery.

Clarice Puckett, 75, of rural LaFayette, died at 3:50 am on Friday, November 1, 2002, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
She was born January 17, 1927, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Wes and Ora Durbin Edlin. She married Owen Puckett on August 21, 1948, in Hodgenville, Kentucky. He survives as well as a daughter, Brenda (and Ross) Walker of LaFayette, Illinois; a son, Howard Puckett of Texas City, Texas; one granddaughter; one sister, Irma Jean Sprowls of Louisville, Kentucky, three brothers, Handly Edlin, Harold Edlin, and Truman Edlin all of Hodgenville, Kentucky. Her parents and one sister preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Salem Christian Church, Hodgenville, Kentucky
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services were held Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home, Toulon. Rev. Bill Bunnage officiated. Private burial of ashes will be at a later date.

Eldred H. Martzluf, 92, of Bradford, formerly of Kickapoo, died at 10:15 am, Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at Heartland Health Care Center, Henry, Illinois. He was born November 3, 1909, in Princeville, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Bessie Barrett Martzluf. He married Anna L. Heinz on October 22, 1936, in Kickapoo, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jean A. (Robert) Plotner of Tiskilwa, and Mary J. (John) Plotner of Santa Ana, California; one granddaughter, Brenda A. (Jeff) Plotner-Sampson of Bettendorf, Iowa; one great grandchild; two brothers, Wilbur Martzluf and Earl (Lois) Martzluf of Edelstein; one sister, Lucille Bieber of Morton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mae Bishop and a grandson, Brian E. Plotner.
Mr. Martzluf was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Kickapoo. He was a graduate of DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. He was a mechanic for the Illinois Department of Transportation in Peoria, retiring July 30, 1976.
A veteran of WW II, Mr. Martzluf served as Fireman 1st Class in the US Navy.
Private graveside services were held at 10 am, Saturday, November 2, 2002, in the Bradford City Cemetery, Bradford, Illinois. Graveside military rites were conducted by Bradford American Legion Post #445.

Naomi Josephine “Jo” Alldredge died on Tuesday, October 22, 2002. She was born on August 23, 1916, in Toulon, the daughter of Maude and Thomas Pyle. She graduated from Toulon High School. She married Delbert R. Alldredge on April 22, 1939, and celebrated 62 years of marriage. Jo and Delbert lived in Madison, Wisconsin, since 1953.
Jo was an active member of Lakeview Moravian Church. She enjoyed the women’s fellowship and was the flower chairperson for many years. She delivered mobile meals and prepared and served food for homeless shelters. Jo was an avid golfer (making a hole-in-one), quilter, lover of word puzzles and poetry. Jo loved her family and friends.
Jo is survived by her sister, Ruthe Anderson of Toulon, her daughters, Kathleen (Gerald) Bass of Verona, Wisconsin, Ellen (Robert) Alldredge-Bell of Oak Park, Illinois, and Debra Alldredge of Monona, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Sam and Peter Schneider, Julie Bass-DeVries, Tom (Tracey) Bass and Michelle Alldredge; step-grandchildren, Peter (Colleen) Bell, Karen (Adrian) Byrne, James (Heide) Bell, Julie (Vince) Scianna and Sarah Harmon; seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Allison, Melissa, Adam, Reina, Haley and Carter; and 15 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delbert; brothers, Bob, Ted, Phil, Dean and John; and sisters, Pauline and Mary.
Funeral services were held at Lakeview Moravian Church, on Friday, October 25 with Revs. Christine and Darrell Johnson presiding. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested for Lakeview Moravian Church or Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center.
Evelyn L. Martin, 89, of Kewanee, died at 7:55 am on October 15, 2002, at Oakwood Health Care Center. She was born September 14, 1913, in Kewanee, Ill., the daughter of William H. and Agnes (Golden) Calcutt Sr. After her mother’s death, she was adopted and raised by Wilbur and Edna (Nicholson) Ames.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Henry County Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, William Jr., Reuben and Hiram, and eight sisters, Clara Wolfe, Nellie Usher, Ada Wolfe, Minnie DeBord, Ida Korsell, Jeanette Winter, Lillian Buchanan and Harriet Martin.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Barry Szalo of Kewanee, three grand-children, Steven Szalo, Kathryn Butler and Mrs. (Duke) Lisa Frisby all of Kewanee, six great grandchildren, Eric, Keiji, Stephanie and Zackary Szalo, Dalton Butler and Briana Frisby all of Kewanee and three great great grandchildren, Ashiyan, Trellie and Jasira.
Ms. Martin graduated from Kewanee High School in 1931. She later graduated from Jones Business College. She had worked as a secretary for Boss Manufacturing, Sears and Kewanee Manufacturing all located in Kewanee. She enjoyed spending time at the Henry County Senior Citizen Center in Kewanee and gardening. She loved kittens.

George "Warner" Bickett, 89, of 206 Thomas, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2002, at the Toulon Health Care Center in Toulon. born October 2, 1913, in Raywick, Kentucky, the son of Joseph V. and Minnie Parmela Kelly Bickett, he married Elizabeth Worthington on August 12, 1944, in Preston, England. She died May 16, 1996, in Kewanee, Ill. Also preceding him in death are two brothers and three sisters.
Surviving is 1 son, David (and Gloria) Bickett of Wyoming., Ill.; 3 grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher and Eugenia; and one great-grandson, Christopher James Bickett, Jr.
He served in the U.S Army Air Force for 4 years, stationed in England, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and instructor. He worked for Y.L. Brown and Johnson Lumber Co for 32 years. He later was a U S postal carrier for 11 years.
He was a 56-year member of the Wyoming. American Legion Post #91, where he served as Sergeant-at-Arms for over 40 years. He also was in charge of traffic control for all the Wyoming. High School home football games.
He was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, where services were held at 10 am Friday, October 18, 2002. Rev. Robert Rayson officiated. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2002, at Wyoming. Funeral Home, with recitation of the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. Burial was in St. Dominic's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyoming. Ambulance Service, or to Wyoming. American Legion Post #91. The Wyoming. Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Iva J. Swiger, 67, of 219 E. High, died 5:40 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria. born October 26, 1934, in Princeville, Illinois, the daughter of Russell W. and Caroline Friedman Camp, she married Gerald "Guy" Swiger December 24, 1958, in Peoria. He died August 30, 1974, in rural Peoria County. Also preceding her in death are her parents and one sister.
Surviving are 2 sons, Douglas (and Cheri) Swiger of Chillicothe, Ill., and Derick "Boom" Swiger of Princeville, Ill.; 1 daughter, Lynette Curtis of Princeville, Ill.; 4 grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Dorothy (and Sam) Hyde of Princeville, Ill., and Jeannette (and Dave) Williams of Washburn, Wisconsin.
She was a clerk at A.K. Oil Company in Princeville, for many years until retiring. She was a member of the Princeville VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary.
Cremation was accorded and graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2002, at Princeville Cemetery, Princeville. Rev. Rex Hendrix officiated. There was no visitation, but the family received friends at the Princeville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall following the graveside service.

Jimmy L. “Troop” Pierce, 66, of Princeville, died 4:06 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at his
residence.
Born June 27, 1936, in Princeville, Illinois, the son of Howard William and Amanda Talbot Pierce, he married Carolyn Sue Lawrence on August 5, 1976, in Peoria. She died July 9, 1996, in Princeville.
Surviving are 1 daughter, Angela S. (and Robert) Daum of Princeville, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, Jody Daum, Elizabeth Daum, Raychel Daum, Blake Daum, and Emily Daum; 2 sisters, Donna Wells of Flippin, Arizona, and Mary Ann Parris of Salem, Missouri; and 3 brothers, Tom Pierce of Peoria, Illinois, Howard “Bill” Pierce of Winfield, Missouri, and Sam Pierce of Princeville, Illinois. His parents, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 -1958. He was Superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Princeville, where he worked for 39 years, retiring in 1999. He also served as Village Constable in the 1960’s. He was a member of the Akron/Princeville Fire Department.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Harry Losey officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to funeral service at the funeral home . Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery, Princeville.

Cecil C. Garner, 82, of Princeville, died 9:49 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Joliet, Illinois.
Born February 8, 1921, in Peoria County, Illinois, the son of Ottie and Evie Garner, he married Grace H. Alldredge on August 30, 1941, in Missouri. She died September of 1983 in Princeville.
Surviving are 3 sons, Ronald L. Garner of West Covina, California, Larry U. (and Mary) of Joliet, Illinois, and Jerry R. Garner of Princeville, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Evangelina Britton of Peoria, Illinois. His parents, four brothers, two sisters and two granddaughters preceded him in death.
He was an EMT for Peoria Mobile Medics, formerly Ace Ambulance in Peoria, retiring in 1983.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Bill Bunnage officiated. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2003, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial was in Mt. Hawley Cemetery, Peoria, Illinois.
