Spruel E. Bullock
Spruel E. Bullock, 85, of Benton, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2002 in his home.
Mr. Bullock had been a School Teacher, an Electrician at Old Ben 21 and owner and operator of Bullock's Greenhouse. He was a member of Greenwood Methodist Church. He was a Financial Secretary for UMWA Local 1124, a long-time School Board Member for Mulkeytown Grade School and Christopher High School and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.
He was born January 17, 1917 in Sunfield, the son of Pleas and Mary (Yates) Bullock. He married
Maxine Moore on August 7, 1935 in Pinckneyville and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Bill and Donna Bullock of Johnston City, Larry and Sherry Bullock of DuQuoin, Joy and William McClellan of Mt. Vernon and Bobbie and J.T. Ingram of DuQuoin; ten grandchildren, Teresa DalSanto of Mt. Vernon, Sandy Bullock of Atlanta, Ga., Bryan Ingram of Pleasanton, Calif., Chrissy Busch of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Laura Spain of Inverness, Fla., Linaya Alvarez of Tulsa, Okla., Jennifer Benedict of Mt. Vernon, Trevor Bullock of Benton, Tenille Bullock of Johnston City and Courtney Bullock of DuQuoin; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Lionel Bullock of DuQuoin and one sister, Norma Gulley of Benton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Mike McClellan.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 26 at 11 a.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home with David Morgan and Percy Pavloff officiating. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.

Gladys Jewel Woolsey
Gladys Jewel Woolsey, 102, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:33 P.M., Friday, February 22, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Gladys was a homemaker who loved her family and the Lord. Gladys was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin. She was a member of the Du Quoin VFW Auxiliary 513.
She was born December 22, 1899 at Anna, IL the daughter of Isaac and Alice Victoria Newton.
She married
Herbert "Pete" Woolsey on March 31, 1920 at Jonesboro, IL he passed away February 13, 1965.
She is survived by a son- Herbert "Bill" Woolsey of Du Quoin, a daughter- Gladys "Sally" Sullivan and husband Edward of Belleville, nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons- Martin, Samuel and Hugh Morris Woolsey, three sisters and three brothers and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 6 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Old Du Quoin cemetery.

Imal B. Heine
Imal B. Heine, age 83, of Pinckneyville, died in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at 9:27 a.m.
Imal was born in Cutler on November 13, 1918, the daughter of Louis C. and Ada Faye (Bigham) Smith. She married
Albert L. Heine on September 21, 1935 in Pinckneyville and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2001. She worked at Mallary factory in DuQuoin and as a cook at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital and Saltzman Cafe. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville and the Perry County Home Extension.
Survivors include four sons, Jack Heine and wife Mary, Larry Heine and wife Marsha, Thomas Heine and wife Carol and Ronnie Heine and wife Sherrie, all of Pinckneyville; four daughters, Darlene Mitchell and husband Lowell of Coulterville, Marilyn Martin and husband Joe of Pinckneyville, Janet Drake and husband Charles of Chatham and Donna Moore and husband Leon of Pinckneyville; two brothers-in-law, Everette Heine of Tamaroa and Willliam Heine of Columbia; two sisters-in-law, Anna Smith of Kinmundy and Ruth Mae Heine of DuQuoin; 27 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a grandson, Alvin Mitchell; five sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Tuesday, March 26 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Ritter officiating. Interment was in Mueller Hill cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 25 from 5 until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 26 from 8 a.m. until services.
Memorials may be made to the Mueller Hill cemetery Association.
Alice M. Campbell
Alice M. Campbell, 87, of DuQuoin, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at her residence.
Alice was a homemaker and had worked at Blue Bell Packing and Illinois Brokerage. She was a member of the First Christian Church of DuQuoin.
She was born January 6, 1915 at DuQuoin, the daughter of Otto Thomas and Josephine (Bann) Stephens. She married
Robert J. Campbell on May 10, 1968 at DuQuoin and he preceded her in death on March 14, 1981.
She is survived by a son- Thomas Zoeckler of Tamaroa; step-son- Bob Campbell of Port Neches, Texas; sister- Joanna Emling of DuQuoin; brother- Bill Stephens of Freeburg and four step-grandchildren- Rob, Matthew, Aaron and Wendy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and son- Bill Zoeckler.
Graveside services were at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 29 at the Sacred Heart cemetery in DuQuoin with Rev. John Lewis officiating.
The Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin was in charge of arrangements.
Those attending the services were asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Interment was in Sacred Heart cemetery.
Joyce Ann Smith
Joyce Ann Smith, age 62, of Pinckneyville, passed away Saturday morning, February 23, 2002 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Joyce was born in Benton on September 22, 1939, the daughter of Clifford and Eloise (Adams) Rice. She was united in marriage to Roger Smith October 8, 1960 at the First Pentecostal Church in Pinckneyville and he survives. Joyce had been a resident of Pinckneyville since 1964, coming from Benton, Ill. She was a member of First Apostolic Church of Pinckneyville and taught Sunday School for many years. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and an avid Panther sports fan.
Joyce is survived by her husband Roger, of Pinckneyville, two sons: Steve Smith and wife Dawn and Mark Smith and wife Nancy, both of Pinckneyville, one daughter, Erin Queen and husband Toby, also of Pinckneyville, two brothers; Gerald Rice and Dennis Rice and his wife Vivian, both of Benton and seven grandchildren, Lauren, Collin and Tyler Smith, Elvin and Elias Opp and Hunter and Logan Queen. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Cheryl Lynn Rice.
Funeral services were held Monday morning, February 25 at the First Apostolic Church in Pinckneyville at 11 a.m. with Reverend Leonard Glover officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill cemetery.
A private family visitation was held prior to services on Monday morning.
Memorials may be made to the Oncology Department of Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Pansy I. Shrum
Pansy I. Shrum, age 87, of Pinckneyville, died at her home on Sunday, February 24, 2002 at 11:12 a.m.
Pansy was born in Eminence, Mo. on December 27, 1914, the daughter of William Charles Burns and Hetta Pearl (Richardson) Burns. She married
Francis Claude Shrum on December 16, 1931 in Centerville, Mo. and he preceded her in death on January 19, 1982. Pansy was a member of the Concord Baptist Church in Rice.
Survivors include two sons, William L. Shrum of Cordova and Ronald T. Shrum of Pinckneyville, three daughters, Frances Wright, Claudett Hart and Kay Tucker, all of Pinckneyville, two sisters, Opal Vineyard of Ellington, Mo. and Hazel Spurgeon of Brighton, Ill., 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three children, Franklin C. Shrum, Gerald D. Shrum and Evelyn F. Wisdom, a granddaughter, Annette L. Shrum, four brothers, one sister and one half-sister.
Funeral services were held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Wednesday, February 27 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dee Speer officiating. Interment was in Concord cemetery in Rice.
Visitation was held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Concord cemetery Association.
David Edward Huggins
David Edward Huggins, 73, of Tamaroa, passed away at 10:10 P.M., Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at his residence.
David was a retired garment cutter at Bridial Originals in Du Quoin after 42 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tamaroa. He had been a Tamaroa volunteer fireman and had been in charge of maintenance and grounds keeper at the Tamaroa Community Center. He was a former member and president of the board of education at both the Tamaroa Highschool and Tamaroa Grade School. He loved to watch his granddaughters participate in sports. David was a handyman to all of the widow women of Tamaroa.
He was born March 28, 1929 at Pinckneyville, IL the son of David and Grace (Ehler) Huggins.
He married
Janelle Rice on December 30, 1950 at Tamaroa, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, son- Jon Huggins and wife Diana of Swanwick, IL, daughter- Charlotte Pestka and husband Dennis of Du Bois, granddaughters- Paige and Brittany Pestka both of Du Bois, two brothers- Billie Richard Huggins of Du Quoin, Donald Brooks Huggins of Tamaroa, two Aunts- Elma Woolever of Pinckneyville, IL and Hope Ehler of Tamaroa, IL, two nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 26, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Rev. Raymond Baggott officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Interment was in the Tamaroa cemetery.

Donna J. Sandlin
Donna J. Sandlin, 66, of Elkville, passed away at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at her residence.
Donna was a retired factory and office worker. She was of the protestant faith.
She was born January 14, 1936 at North Chicago, IL the daughter of Clarence and Mildred (Karow) Maguire.
She married
Robert Sandlin in 1953 at North Chicago, IL, he passed away in 1985.
She is survived by six sons- Lee Shriver of Georgia, Danny Shriver of Decatur, IL, David Shriver of Anna, IL, Bobby Sandlin of Tennessee, Larry Sandlin of Decatur, IL and Wayne Sandlin of Anna, IL, a sister whom she raised Linda Olmsted of Elkville, special friend- Robert Stoll of Elkville, fifteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Jimmy Sandlin.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 16, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Pastor Tex Gordon Perry officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Elkville cemetery.
Raymond Keith Ross
Raymond Keith Ross, 77, of DuQuoin, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at 7:56 a.m. in St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Ross was a painter and of the Pentecostal faith. He was born May 6, 1924 at Lafayette, Ind., the son of Charles W. and Sylvia M. (Emery) Ross.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Graveside services were held Friday, March 22 at 2 p.m. at Old DuQuoin cemetery with Rev. Joseph Crowe officiating. Interment followed.
Neal-McClure Funeral Home of DuQuoin was in charge of the arrangements. Those attending the services were asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Angelo L. Ingrassia
Mr. Angelo L. (Ange) Ingrassia, 71, of Moscow Mills, Mo., formerly of St. Louis, Mo., passed away Monday, April 22, 2002 in Lincoln Co. Medical Center in Troy, Mo.
Mr. Ingrassia was a meat cutter for 47 years and a member of meat cutters union local #88. He was born August 20, 1930 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Salvatore and Cecilia Gibilterra Ingrassia. He married
Mary Licata on October 11, 1952 in DuQuoin.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Licata Ingrassia of Moscow Mills, Mo.; three daughters, Candy Citrin of Chesterfield, Mo., Mary Kay Hogan of Florissant, Mo. and Julie Hoffman of Affton, Mo.; three sons, Sam Ingrassia of Dallas, Texas, Tony Ingrassia of St. Charles, Mo. and Steve Ingrassia of Florissant, Mo.; one sister, Catherine 'Cookie' Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother-in-law, Jack Licata of DuQuoin and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Mary Ingrassia.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Troy, Mo. with Rev. Richard Rhea and Rev. John Francis officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart cemetery in DuQuoin on Friday, April 26 at 1 p.m.
Sam Ingrassia, Tony Ingrassia, Steve Ingrassia, Jeffery Citrin, Tim Hogan and Brian Hoffman served as pallbearers.
Friends called Wednesday, April 26 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the McCoy and Blossom Funeral Home in Troy, Mo. and on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Troy, Mo.

Hazel M. Telkemeyer
Hazel M. Telkemeyer, 88, of Moline, died Thursday, March 14, 2002 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Funeral services were Tuesday, March 19 at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, with Rev. Ron Allen officiating. Burial was at Rose Dale cemetery, Cambridge. Memorials may be made to the family or to Faith Evangelical Free Church, Moline.
Mrs. Telkemeyer was born September 25, 1913 in Perry County, the daughter of Ernest Vallie and Emma Leoan Keith Heape. She married
Henry F. Telkemeyer on April 28, 1934 in Mt. Vernon. He died December 8, 1997.
She was a devoted housewife and mother and attended Faith Evangelical Free Church. She loved flowers, working in her garden, music and visiting with people.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, M. Joann and Donald Wilson of Moline and a son, Ernest W. Telkemeyer of Geneseo.
Golda Watson
Golda R. Watson, 88, of Elkville, passed away at 9:05 P.M., Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
Golda was a homemaker and a member of the Elkville Baptist Church.
She was born April 17, 1913 at Hurst, IL the daughter of Charles Flanders and Josephine (McKuen) Barwick.
She married
Rollie F. Watson on September 20, 1931 at Du Quoin and he passed away July 15, 1983.
She is survived by a daughter- Shirley Lenzini and husband John of Dowell, two sons- Joe Watson and wife Shirley of Murphysboro, James Watson and wife Norma of Cobden, ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers- Charles, Ira, Wayne and Archie Barwick, sister- Reecie Owens, two infant sisters.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 30, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Daryl Williams officiating.

Interment was in the Elkville cemetery.
