Stella Mae Kellerman
Stella Mae Kellerman, age 93, of rural Pinckneyville, died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at 1:210 a.m. in the Pinckneyville Health Care Center, Pinckneyville.
Stella was born in Washington County, Ill. on August 18, 1908, a daughter of Cammie and Mary (Zitt) Hubler. She married
Leo Frank Kellerman on June 11, 1929 and he preceded her in death on October 20, 1990. She was a homemaker, loved to quilt, garden, bowl, was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Todd's Mill and the Catholic Daughters #1385, Todd's Mill.
Survivors include three children: Leo E. Kellerman and his wife Virginia of Pinckneyville, Doris Rice and her husband Don of Pinckneyville and Bert J. Kellerman and his wife Mary Ann of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two brothers: Vince Hubler and his wife Rose of San Jose, Calif. and Joe Hubler and his wife Ann of Manchester, Mo.; three sisters, Celeste Mentel of Pinckneyville, Clara Todd of Rock Island, Ill. and Marcella Anderson of Woodhall, Ill.; a sister-in-law: Dorothy Hubler of St. Louis, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter: Louise Bergfeld; three brothers: Bert, Bill and Melgor Hubler and two grandchildren: Gregory Dean Bergfeld and Marsha Lynn Rice.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 7 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Todd's Mill with Fr. James Van Oss officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Monday from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 until 9:30 a.m. A prayer service was held on Monday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Perry County or to St. Bruno School.
Tex C. Melvin
Tex C. Melvin, 70, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:20 P.M., Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at his residence.
Tex was a retired pipefitter. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Du Quoin and a member of the pipefitters local union.
He was born December 24, 1931 at Du Quoin, IL the son of Clifford W. and Eunice (Holland) Melvin.
He married
Cecile Rodely on September 4, 1976 at Du Quoin, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, three sons- David Wayne Melvin of Du Quoin, IL, Clifford Ray Melvin of North Carolina, Michael Eugene Melvin of Royalton, IL, two daughters - Eunice Morgan of Du Quoin, IL, Teresa Steely of Du Quoin, IL, sister- Mona Raye Rees of Du Quoin, IL, brother- James Melvin of California, half sister- Jenny Burrow of Marissa, IL, sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son- Jeffrey Melvin and a brother.
Funeral services were at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, May 11, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Bareis officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Albert Gene Miller
Albert Gene Miller, age 66, of Wynne, Arkansas, passed away at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2002.
He was born January 7, 1936 in Cutler to Elmer and Juanita (Freeman) Miller. He married
Irene Josephine Rybacki on May 3, 1958 in Pinckneyville.
He was retired and loved fishing.
His wife, Irene Miller; two sons, Kevin and wife Edie Miller and Karl Miller, both of Wynne, Ark. and one daughter, Karla Miller, survive him. Also his mother, Juanita (Freeman) Miller of Wynne, Ark.; a brother, Melvin Miller of Michigan and two grandchildren survive.
His father, Elmer Miller, preceded him in death.
The funeral was held May 10 at the Kunodle Funeral Chapel and he was buried at Harris Chapel cemetery.
Theodore John Mayer
Theodore John 'Tater' Mayer, age 43, of Coulterville, passed away Friday morning, May 31, 2002 at his home.
Tater was born July 23, 1958 in Pinckneyville, the son of Theodore E. and Emma (Laubenthal) Mayer. He was united in marriage to Judy Ruebke on August 21, 1982 at Sparta and she survives. Tater was a self-employed farmer and worked for Consolidated Coal Company, Burning Star #4 in Cutler for 18 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conant and a member of the UMWA.
Tater is survived by his mother; wife Judy and daughter Katelyn; a sister, Emma 'E.J.' Steele and her husband Mark and their daughter Nikki and two aunts, Freda (Mayer) and husband Hank Luker of Michigan and Edie (Mayer) and her husband Dave Verberder of St. Louis, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father and two uncles, Fred and Carl.
Funeral services were Tuesday morning, June 4 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conant with Pastor Russ Helbig officiating. Interment was in the Hopewell cemetery, Pinckneyville.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville Monday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 8 until 10:15 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the Pinckneyville City Park Playground Fund or the Trinity Lutheran Building Project.
Eleanor D. Radake
Eleanor D. Radake, 71, of Scheller, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at her residence.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002 at the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller with Fr. Daniel Jurek officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. The Rosary was said at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the St. Barbara cemetery.

Patricia Louise Riva
Patricia Louise Riva, age 71, of Pinckneyville, formerly of DuQuoin, passed away in Marshall Browning Hospital Emergency Room on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at 1:08 p.m.
Pat was born in DuQuoin on December 18, 1930, the daughter of James and Elsie (Taylor) Riva. She had to leave high school at the age of 16 to support her grandmother, niece and nephew. She loved her cat 'Buddy', was of the Baptist faith, retired from Bridal Originals in DuQuoin, was local president of the International Ladies Garment Worker Union for 37 years and attended Gold Plate in DuQuoin.
Survivors include a nephew: Jim Fullerton and wife Jerri of Atlanta, Ga.; cousins: Theda Martin of DuQuoin; Geraldine Moss of Pinckneyville; dear friends: Charlene Geiser of Pinckneyville, Carolyn Nuding of DuQuoin, Delores Bass of DuQuoin, Catherine Palmer of DuQuoin, Clara Weslock of Scheller and numerous friends from Bridal Originals. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Bonnie Harris.
Graveside memorial services were held on Monday, May 6 at 1 p.m. at the Mueller Hill cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville was in charge of services.
Charles N. Sample
Charles N. Sample, 81, of Sesser, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at 1:20 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin.
Mr. Sample had been a Coal Miner and a Farmer. He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in DuQuoin and the UMWA. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II.
Mr. Sample was born November 10, 1920 in Sesser, the son of Charles M. and Alta (Arterberry) Sample. He married
Clara Mae Berner and she survives.
Also surviving his son, Fred & Connie Sample of Benton and grandchildren, Jason & Heather Sample of Christopher and Dana Sample of Benton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were Friday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher with Rev. Kevin Weaver officiating. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Valier.
Friends called after 6 p.m. Thursday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher.
Ernest Sanders
Ernest Sanders, 56, of DuQuoin, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Sanders was a truck driver for Porter's. He was a U.S. veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was born August 9, 1945 at Anna, the son of Oscar H. and Leona (Taylor) Sanders Sr. He married
Jennifer Marlow on December 11, 1993 at Benton.
Surviving are his wife, Jennifer Sanders of Benton; two sons, Kevin Sanders of Advance, Mo. and Marvin Newell of Goldsboro, N.C.; four daughters, Rebecca Sanders of DuQuoin, Kandi Presley of West Frankfort, Angela Embrick of DuQuoin and Ursula Embrick of DuQuoin; three brothers, Oscar Sanders Jr. of Anna, William Sanders of Jonesboro and Roy Swofford of Anna; eight sisters, Patty Lence of Anna, Marty Ford of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Pam Moore of Chaffee, Mo., Rose Parker of Grand Tower, Norma Laminck of Cobden, Leona Jacks of Davenport, Iowa, Nadine Campbell of Anna and Mary Lou Toler of Grand Chain and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ted Clark officiating. Interment was in Holts Prairie Baptist cemetery in Pinckneyville. Graveside military rites were conducted by the DuQuoin VFW 513.

Adelaine Clampet
Adelaine 'Genevieve' Clampet, 71, of Coulterville, passed away May 28, 2002 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Mrs. Clampet was born July 1, 1930 to Clifford and Nellie Presswood. She married
Richard Clampet on November 1, 1947.
Mrs. Clampet was a retired housekeeper, a member of the VFW in Coulterville and a member of Beaucoup Baptist Church in Pinckneyville.
She is survived by her husband: Richard, two daughters: Brenda Rentmeister and Nancy Knope, three sons: Douglas, Thomas and Richard, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Her parents, one brother and one grandson preceded Genevieve in death.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 1 at 1 p.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville. Interment was in Mueller Hill cemetery, Pinckneyville.

Walter Eugene Yearian
Walter Eugene Yearian, age 84, of Johnston City, formerly of Cutler, died Saturday, May 11, 2002 at 2:28 p.m. in the Marion Memorial Hospital, Marion, Ill.
Walter was born in Graybull, Wyoming on October 10, 1917, a son of Willard and Lydia (Eckert) Yearian. He was a farm laborer, was employed at Five Star Industries, DuQuoin and had attended the Church of the Nazarene, DuQuoin. He married
Dorothy Louise Hicks and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include a brother: Willard G. Yearian and his wife Gertrude of Dixon, Ill, along with numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
Graveside funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m. in Cutler cemetery, Cutler, Ill.
Arrangements were by Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville.
Frieda Clara Zimbelman
Frieda Clara Zimbelman, 94, of Murphysboro, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2002 at 3:15 p.m. at Fair Acres Nursing Home in DuQuoin.
Mrs. Zimbelman had worked at the former Martin Bakery in Murphysboro. She was a lifelong member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #127 Ladies Auxiliary and V.F.W. Post #7190 Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Jackson County Nursing Home Auxiliary and Murphysboro Senior Citizens.
She was born October 5, 1907 in Murphysboro, the daughter of Adolph and Emma (Heumann) Wohlwend. She married
Clarence Zimbelman on February 3, 1940 in Jackson, Mo. and he preceded her in death on February 9, 1971.
She is survived by one sister, Alma Raines of Murphysboro and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were Monday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro with Rev. P.K. Sunny officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro.
Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday until the hour of services at the funeral home.

Leanna Kay Wisdom
Leanna Kay Wisdom, age 26, of Pinckneyville, died in the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. on Sunday, May 5, 2002 after a lengthy illness.
Leanna was born September 28, 1975 in Rolla, Mo., the daughter of Lee Roy and Evelyn (Shrum) Wisdom. Leanna was employed by Nascote Industries in Nashville, was a former member of the Concord Baptist Church and enjoyed crafts and her family and friends. Leanna is survived by her father, Lee Roy Wisdom and his wife Sharon of Bunker, Mo.; grandparents, Ira and Ellen Wisdom of Bunker, Mo. and a brother, Devon Wisdom, also of Bunker, Mo. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn.
Funeral services were planned for Wednesday, May 8 at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville at 1 p.m. with Reverend Clay Harper officiating. Interment was in the Concord cemetery, Rice.
