Russell E. Stanley
Russell E. Stanley, 69, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:37 A.M., Monday, October 21, 2002 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.
Russell was a retired punch press operator at Turco Mfg. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Du Quoin and a Life member of the DAV. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was born January 28, 1933 at Du Quoin, IL the son of Martin Edward and Letha Jane (Kelley) Stanley.
He is survived by a special friend- Doloris Williams of Du Quoin, children- Leslie Anders of Du Quoin, Dennis Loucks of Du Quoin, Donna Howerton of Du Quoin, Lester Loucks of Du Quoin, Dodie Loucks of Du Quoin, Linda Bird of Pinckneyville, brother- Ray Stanley of Du Quoin, two sisters- Imogene Stanley of Du Quoin and Dorothy Rice of Du Quoin, sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great granddchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Friday, October 25, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Bareis officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Old Du Quoin cemetery.
Friends may make memorials to the Second Baptist Church Food Pantry.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Du Quoin VFW Post 513.
Hazel O. Sisney
Hazel O. Sisney, 92, formerly of 318 W. North St. in DuQuoin, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at 9:45 a.m. in Fair View Nursing Center.
Ms. Sisney had been a waitress. She lived in DuQuoin for 28 years.
She was born April 13, 1910 in DuQuoin, the daughter of Joshua C. and Sarah E. (George) Sisney.
Surviving are two nieces, Dolores Procassini of New Jersey and Margaret Taylor of DuQuoin and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Funeral services were Friday, October 11 through Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D. Street, Belmar, NJ 07719. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery in Brielle, N.J.
There was no local visitation.
Maxton Funeral Home of DuQuoin was in charge of local arrangements.
Francis Guilford
Francis 'Squeaky' Guilford, age 76, of Salisbury, Mo., grandfather of Lisa Wild (Larry) of Pinckneyville, died July 29, 2002 at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Mo. following an automobile accident.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 1, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in the Summerville Funeral Home, Salisbury, Mo. Interment was in the Asbury cemetery, rural Keytesville, Mo.

Arland Kunkle
Arland 'Sonny' Kunkle, age 64, of Pinckneyville, passed away Tuesday morning, July 2, 2002 at his home.
Sonny was born August 2, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant, Pa., the son of Harry R. and Geraldine (Nichols) Kunkle. He was united in marriage to Darlene Phillips July 12, 1969 and she survives.
Sonny ran the fertilizer plant at Twin County Farm Services in Pinckneyville where he was employed for 24 years. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, enjoyed yard work, working on cars, wood crafts and loved cats.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Pinckneyville; mother, Geraldine Kunkle of Chicago; four sons, Tim Simpson and wife Sarah, Brian Simpson and wife Laurie, all of West Chicago, Dan Kunkle and wife Karen of Naperville and Dave Kunkle and wife Debbie of Plainville; one daughter, Sandy Morris of Lake Forest and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were Saturday morning, July 6 at 10 a.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist church in Pinckneyville with Bro. Rob Mathis officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville Friday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. and Saturday morning from 8 to 8:30 a.m. then at the Oak Grove Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until services.

Mary Katherine Little
Mary Katherine Little, 91, of Flora, formerly of DuQuoin, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at 12:30 p.m. in Flora.
Mrs. Little was a homemaker. She was born August 10, 1910 in DuQuoin, the daughter of Clarence and Daisy (Glidwell) Ridgeway. She married
Louis Emling on March 27, 1926 and he preceded her in death. She then married
John Little on February 5, 1971. She had lived in Flora for the past 18 years.
Surviving are her husband, John Little of Flora; two daughters, Vera McNair of Apaka, Fla. and Joan Coleman of Flora; one step-son, John Little Jr. of DuQuoin; four grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, five brothers, five sisters and one grandchild.
Graveside services were held Friday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at Old DuQuoin cemetery with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating. Interment followed.
There was no visitation and friends were asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Rosia Craig
Rosia Craig, 89, of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri., formerly of Dowell, passed away Monday, July 1, 2002 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Mrs. Craig was born June 28, 1913 in Canada, the daughter of Jon and Josephine Liska. She married
Homer Craig and he preceded her in death.
She raised Mary Alice (Pessetti) Mallicoat who survives in the Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. Other survivors include one sister, Josie Creech of Sparta; three sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 3 at 11 a.m. at Old DuQuoin cemetery with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Neal-McClure Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Those attending the services were asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Elizabeth M. Bumann
Elizabeth M. Bumann, 83, of Du Quoin formerly of Sparta, passed away at 6:45 P.M., Thursday, August 8, 2002 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.
Elizabeth was a homemaker and a member of the Coulterville Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She was born June 3, 1919 at Coulterville, IL the daughter of Clarence Alexander and Martha Winifred (McCauley) Ross.
She married
Vernon C. Bumann on August 18, 1937 at St. Louis, MO, he passed away September 29, 1972.
She is survived by two daughters- Carolyn Moore and husband Andrew P. of Du Quoin, Sandra Sutton and husband Larry of Robards, KY, three grandchildren- Andrea Hamburger and husband Jeff of Sesser, Randy Sutton and wife Wendy of Henderson, KY, Shelly Hobgood and husband Troy of Henderson, KY, five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, two grandsons.
Funeral services were at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 10, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright and Rev. Alice Faye True officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Swanwick cemetery at Swanwick, IL.

Matilda Parks
Matilda 'Tillie' Parks, 95, of DuQuoin, passed away Monday, July 15, 2002 at 9:30 p.m. at Fair Acres Nursing Home.
Mrs. Parks had been a packer at the Garment Factory. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a 60-year member of Court 795 of the DuQuoin Catholic Daughters of America.
She was born July 17, 1906 at Cumberland, B.C., the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Sarto) Vincenti. She married
Joseph Parks on October 4, 1930 in DuQuoin and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1980.
Surviving are two nieces and nephews-in-law, Marie and Mike Giacomelli of Springfield and Donna and Bernard Toler of DuQuoin; great-nephews, Thomas Prock of Orange, Calif., Steven (Sharon) Toler of DuQuoin, Brian Toler of DuQuoin, Kevin (Kathy) Toler of DuQuoin and Neal Toler of DuQuoin; several great-great-nieces and nephews and great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Antonio Vincenti; one sister, Minnie Pirozzini and one niece, Margaret.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 18, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Msgr. Angelo Lombardo, Msgr. Harry Jerome and Msgr. Tom Miller officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart cemetery at DuQuoin.
Friends called at Neal-McClure Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 7:30 to 10:15 a.m. at which time services moved to the church for mass.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church.
Regina Elizabeth Bruns
Regina Elizabeth (Martin) Bruns, age 95, of Pinckneyville, passed away Sunday morning, August 25, 2002 at 2:45 a.m. at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Regina was born September 6, 1906 in Pinckneyville, the daughter of Joe and Elizabeth (Surman) Martin. She was united in marriage to John C. Bruns on June 28, 1927 in Pinckneyville and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1974. Regina was a homemaker and member of St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville and a member of Catholic Daughters of America.
Regina is survived by three sons, Carl J. Bruns and wife Betty of Alexis, Bernard W. Bruns and wife Sally of Pinckneyville and Edward J. Bruns and wife Sherilyn, also of Pinckneyville; one daughter, Elizabeth 'Betty' Smith and husband Jeril of Pinckneyville and two sisters, Margaret Woodside of Nashville, Tenn. and Frances McLuckie of DuQuoin. Regina is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, four step-grandsons, two step-granddaughters and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
Regina was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Loretta Daven, along with her husband Michael; one son, Herman; one granddaughter, Cheryl Smith; three grandsons, Michael Daven II, Douglas Bruns and Jon Smith; five brothers; Charles, Simon, George, Jim and Paul and three sisters, Theresa Mucha, Dorothy Holecek and Mary Surman.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville with Father John Venegoni officiating. Interment was in the St. Bruno Catholic cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning from 8 until 9:30 a.m.
The Rosary was recited Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.

Bessie Mae Pyle
Bessie Mae Pyle, 94 of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:15 P.M., Monday, July 22, 2002 at the Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Bessie was a retired elementary school teacher and a sales clerk. She was a member of the Du Quoin Church of Christ and a fifty year member of the Eastern Star.
She was born July 21, 1908 in Perry County, IL the daughter of Albert and Harriet (Miller) Wilks.
She married
Orville Edward Pyle on June 21, 1936 at Perry County, IL, he passed away December 17, 1994.
She is survived by a brother-in-law- Claude Pyle of New Mexico, three nieces- Nina Stockton of Tamaroa, Jennie Baxter of Pawnee, Mary Oxencis of Springfield, nephew- James A. Wilks of Taylorville, several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Friends called from 9 to 10:30 A.M. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Tamaroa cemetery.

Hazel Hampleman
Hazel (Cook) Hampleman, 99 of Bartow, FL. formerly of Perry County, passed away at 11:05 A.M., Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at the Rohr Nursing Home in Bartow, FL.
Hazel was a homemaker and was co-owner and operator with her daughter Frances of Fran's Alterations in Lakeland, FL for many years. She was a member of the Paradise Baptist Church at Tamaroa. For the past 20 years she lived in Bartow, FL and she was an active member of Wildwood Baptist Church.
She was born January 8, 1903 at Tamaroa, IL the daughter of Charley and Elsie (Turner) Cook.
She married
Rev. Glenn Hampleman on September 15, 1921 at Pinckneyville and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters- Viva Smith of Lakeland, FL, Virginia Woosley of Bartow, FL, son- Carroll Hampleman and wife Gerry of Lakeland, FL, daughter-in-law- Laverne Hampleman of Du Quoin, thirteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and nineteen great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rev. Glenn Hampleman, son- Herman Hampleman, daughter- Frances Eckert, grandson, great grandson, four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 12, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 9 to 10 A.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Paradise cemetery at Tamaroa.
