Carol A. Henseler
Carol A. Henseler, 51, was called home to be with the Lord at 6:52 p.m. Monday, February 10 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.
She was a data processor at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton for 16 years and the organist at Meadowbrook First So. Baptist Church.
She was born September 23, 1951 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late Singleton and Lorene (Miller) Jenkel. She married
Roy S. Henseler on October 16, 1968 in Pinckneyville and he survives.
Also surviving are daughter, Staci Reynolds, her husband Dave and their children, Alyssa, 8, Dustin, 4, and Dathan, 2, all of West Plains, Mo.; daughter, Amanda Davis, her husband Dan and their children, Nicholas, 4, Kyle, 3, and Kimberly, 2, all of Fort Riley, Kan.; son, Scott Henseler, his wife Sheila and their children, Alyson, 7, and Alex, 4; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary Allen and Barb Fann of Du Quoin and a sister and brother-in-law, Sherry Lyn and Merlin Pfeaster of Du Quoin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Kaela Phillips.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Meadowbrook First S. Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Goewey officiating. Interment was in Woodland Hill cemetery in East Alton.
Friends called Wednesday at Paynic Home For Funerals in Rosewood Heights from 4 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the music program at the church.
Thompson H. Depue
Thompson H. Depue, 83, Du Quoin, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 1:30 a.m. at Marshall Browning Hospital.
Mr. Depue was a Locksmith and a member of Spirit of Life Christian Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Depue was a member of the Du Quoin VFW and Royal Neighbors. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1940 then transferred to the Army and served in the Army Air Corps to the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force Reserves in 1979. He was a former member of React, Civil Defense. Not only was he a locksmith, he was a professional photographer, manager of several theaters including the Grand in Du Quoin and was an avid reader who loved camping, traveling, music and hugging his family.
He was born December 6, 1919 at Ft. Scott, Kansas, the son of George William and Fannie (Hill) Depue. He married
Elsie Norene Smith of November 12, 1940 at Keokuk, Iowa.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie Depue of Du Quoin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thompson and Leanna Depue of Warrensburg, Mo., and George and Lynda Depue of Taylorville; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Victor Mainwal of Reseda, Calif., Delores and Allen Davison Jr. of Du Quoin, Helen and Mike Schubert of Tamaroa, April and Dan Wilson of Crestview, Fla. and Patricia and Robert Norton of Decatur; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, one half-brother, one half-sister, one grandson and one niece.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 8 at 10 a.m. at Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.
Friends called at the Neal-McClure Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Military Rites were conducted by the Du Quoin VFW.

Lyla Wanda Graul
Lyla Wanda Graul, 89, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:55 P.M., Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.
Lyla was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Home Extension, and VFW.
She was a Coast Guard veteran of W.W.II.
She was born December 18, 1913 at Herrin, IL, the daughter of Ben F. and Nora Ann (Poos) Walker.
She married
Edward Graul on July 5, 1942 at St. Genevieve, MO and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one daughter - Priscilla Crews and husband Charles of Murphysboro, IL, two sons - Steve E. Graul of St. Louis, MO and John B. Graul and wife Debbie of Virginia, two sisters - Helen A. Keyser and Emma B. Sweet both of Arkansas, one brother - Ervin E. Walker of St. Louis, MO, and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, four brothers, and one granddaughter.
Memorial services were at 7:00 P.M., Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Paul Schultz officiating.
Margaret L. Barkus
Margaret L. Barkus, 86, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:45 A.M., Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at the Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Margaret and her husband had resided in Dowell for several years where her husband served as mayor for twelve years. They then moved to California and Margaret returned to Du Quoin after her husband's death in 1982.
Margaret was a loving, giving and kind person. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church. She was active in the Senior Citizen and was a member of the Marshall Browning Hospital Auxiliary and the Du Quoin American Legion Auxiliary.
She was born May 15, 1916 at Alto Pass, IL the daughter of Harvey and Maude (Wright) Hickem.
She married
Anthony Barkus on October 31, 1935 at Benton, IL, he preceded her in death March 10, 1982.
She was a loving mother to her daughters- Marilyn Jones and husband Jimmy of Ridgecrest, CA and Judith Cox and husband Paul of Scottsdale, AZ and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren- Alicia Whitson of Medford, OR and Shannon and Heather Cox of Scottsdale, AZ, loving great grandmother to Amber and Gavin Whitson of Medford, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters- Ruth, Kenneth, Harry, Louise, Burnell, Paul and Marie.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the IOOF cemetery at Du Quoin.

Dale Owen
Dale Owen, age 82, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away Monday evening, January 20, 2003 at his home.
Dale was born January 23, 1920 in Pinckneyville, IL the son of Thomas and Viola (Hubler) Owen. He was united in marriage to Mabel E. Presswood and she preceded him in death November 13, 1981. Dale was a veteran of the US Army during WWII and was awarded the Bronze and Silver Star and a Purple Heart Medal. He worked as a self-employed painter in the Pinckneyville area.
Dale is survived by three sons; Kenneth D. Owen and wife Carol A. of East Carondelet, IL, Douglas R. Owen and wife Nancy L. of Cahokia, IL, Robert W. Owen and wife Janie of Bangor, PA, eight grandchildren; Thomas A. Owen and wife Kristina, Michael W. and Joshua J. Owen, Melandie L. Goedecke and husband Jason, Nicole R. Owen, Heather A. Owen, Jessica M. Owen, Danielle N. Owen, two great grandchildren, Dalton M. Owen and Bryce Pachorkowski, four brothers; Thomas Owen of Cahokia, IL, Ray Owen of Michigan, Doug Owen of Sparta, IL, and Joe Owen of Alabama, and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Tommy Owen, and four brothers, Alfred, Waldo, Wilfred, and one sister, Dorothy Owen Hopp.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning, January 23, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Pinckneyville, IL with Pastor Kenneth Owen officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill cemetery.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m., then at the church Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. till services.

Justin Bollinger
Justin 'Rusty' Bollinger, 25, of Chicago, formerly of Kenosha, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, January 21, 2003 in Chicago.
Born in Du Quoin on February 24, 1977, he was the son of Greg Bollinger and Benequea Hale. He came from Great Lakes Naval Base to Kenosha in 1986 and attended Tremper High School.
He was employed as a bricklayer in Chicago and the Chicago Suburbs.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Benequea (Dan) Reeves of Bristol, Wis.; his father and step-mother, Greg (Denise) Bollinger of Kenosha; a brother, Neil Bollinger of Bristol, Wis.; a step-brother, Troy Reeves of Bristol, Wis.; four step-sisters, Shannon Reeves of Bristol, Wis. Amy-Rae, Jesse Lynn and Shannan, all of Kenosha and his paternal grandfather, Nelson Bollinger of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Benjamin and Millie Hale and Shirley Bollinger.
Funeral services for Justin 'Rusty' Bollinger were on Saturday, January 25 at Proko Funeral Home 5111-60th St. at 3 p.m. Visitation was held on Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of services at Proko Funeral Home.
Susan Jahnke
Susan Jahnke, 86, of DuBois, went to be with the Lord at 2:25 P.M., Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at Pinckneyville Skilled Care after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Susan was a homemaker and was truly devoted to the care of her family. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois for her entire life and a member of Catholic Daughters.
She was born August 1, 1916 at DuBois, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Gajewski) Dalman.
She was united in marriage to Don Jahnke on October 10, 1936 at St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1998.
She is survived by one son - Alfred Jahnke and wife Virginia of DuBois, one daughter - Eileen Siefert and husband Herschel of Du Quoin. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kim Tumbarello of Murphysboro, Chris Jahnke of DuBois, Stacey Edward of Massachusetts, Margaret Myers of Florida, Matthew Siefert of Du Quoin and Steven Jahnke of DuBois and three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Todd Jahnke of DuBois and Tim Myers of Florida. She is also survived by one sister - Amanda Donelly of St. Peters, MO and a special nephew, Jerry McEwan of Chandler, AZ. Also, many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, six sisters and one great-granddaughter - Cindy Jahnke.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 22, 2003 at St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
The Rosary was recited at 7:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the St. Charles Catholic cemetery.

Dorothy Dee Bailey
Dorothy Dee (Nee Buttry)Bailey, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:50 A.M., Friday, February 14, 2003 at her residence.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of Sunfield Methodist Church and was active in the Methodist Women's Group at the church.
She was born December 13, 1924 at McLeansboro, IL, the daughter of Grady and Mary (McMahon) Buttry.
She married
Lyle M. Bailey on April 6, 1980 at Sunfield and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1995.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law - Sudie Klingerman of O'Fallon, IL, one step son - Joe Bailey and wife Sara of Phoenix, AZ, one step daughter - Dianne Sautter and husband John of Lafayette, IN, one sister - Gladys Moore and husband Jim of Belleville, IL, stepmother - Delores Buttry of Belleville, IL, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son - Walter Klingerman, one grandson - Michael Klingerman, and one brother - Roy L. Buttry.
Funeral service was at 1:30 P.M., Monday, February 17, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Jerry Dunn officiating.

Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Walter Zyk
Walter Zyk, 90, of Nashville, IL, passed away at 5:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at his residence.
Walter was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois, IL.
He was born March 31, 1912 at DuBois, IL, the son of Bernard and Rose (Szramkowski) Zyk.
He married
Regina Kuberski on February 5, 1944 at St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Nashville, IL, children - Rose Numi and husband John of Du Quoin, IL, Rita Jablonski and husband Jim of DuBois, IL, Joan Weisel and husband Harold of Tamaroa, IL, John Zyk and wife Kandice of Mount Vernon, IL, Leona Jablonski and husband Joe of Maryville, IL, and Leon Zyk and wife Juliann of DuBois, IL, one brother - Julius Zyk of St. Louis, MO, one sister - Anna Zelasko of DuBois, IL, fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister - Helen Sheetz.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 23, 2003 at St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois, IL with Fr. Paul Wienhoff officiating.
There was no public visitation per the family's request.
Interment was in the St. Charles cemetery at DuBois, IL.
Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa was in charge of arrangements.
Sarah Edith Clark
Sarah Edith Clark, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:56 P.M., Monday, February 24, 2003 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, IL.
Sarah worked as a nurses aide at Marshall Browning Hospital for eleven years. She was a member of Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin.
She was born June 27, 1917 at Burnie, MO, the daughter of William Carol and Pearl (Westers) Puckett.
She married
Henry Clark on March 28, 1942 at Perryville, MO and he preceded her in death on January 21, 1993.
She is survived by two sons - Joe W. Clark and wife Wanda and Henry Clark Jr. and wife Fay, all of Du Quoin, four daughters - Roxie L. Reynolds of St. Louis, MO, Virginia Winters of Owensville, MO, Edith Roth and friend Richard Douglas of Geneseo, IL, and Jennie Knapp and husband Leroy of Du Quoin, twenty-six grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren, nineteen great great grandchildren, and one sister - Esther George of Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons - Bill and Leroy, four grandchildren, one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.
