Charlie Edward Bell
Charlie Edward Bell, 61, of Fort Meade, Florida, formerly of Tamaroa, passed away at 9:05 A.M., Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at his residence.
Charlie was an electrical consultant with Minserco in Fort Meade, Florida and a retired Master Sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps., serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of First Christian Church in Tamaroa and attended First Baptist Church of Bowling Green, Florida. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W., member of Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion, Masons, and Shriners.
He was born June 23, 1941 at Tamaroa, IL, the son of Russell and Vera Mae (Laur) Bell Jr.
He is survived by his wife - Virginia Elizabeth (McCann) Bell, one son - Steven Centore of New York, four daughters - Cherie Bell Twist and Melissa Bell, both of West Frankfort, IL, Deborah Bayliss and Teri Centore, both of Omaha, NE, one sister - Doris June Klamm of Du Bois, IL, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Shirley Jean Kunkel
Shirley Jean Kunkel, 65, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:30 A.M., Friday, January 17, 2003 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Shirley was a nurses aide and had worked at Marshall Browning Hospital for twenty-three years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin, Women's Fellowship of the church, and Quilters of St. John's Church.
She was born July 29, 1937 at Perry County, IL, the daughter of Eugene Clarence and Dora May (Heberer) Kellerman.
She married
William F. Kunkel on July 12, 1958 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, two daughters - Lyla Kozuszek and husband Bernie of Pinckneyville and Shelly Huggins and husband Steve of Herrin, one sister- Marilyn Norris of Washington, DC, and grandchildren - Philip, Brian and Stefanie Kozuszek and Will and Taylor Huggins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandson - Patrick Kozuszek.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Paul Schultz officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Ina E. Longshore
Ina E. Longshore, 63, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:50 P.M., Friday, January 24, 2003 at her residence.
Ina was a cook at the Du Quoin Gold Plate where she had worked for nineteen years.
She was of the protestant faith.
She was born December 25, 1939 at Tamaroa, IL the daughter of Max and Maurine (Sizemore) Morrow.
She married
Maurice E. (Corky) Longshore on September 27, 1985 at Pinckneyville, IL he passed away July 3, 2002.
She is survived by two sons- Roger Heape of Du Quoin, IL and Dennis Heape and wife Susan of Tamaroa, IL, one daughter- Yvonne Bronke and husband Brian of Springfield, IL, Grandchildren- B.J. Reagan, Shannon Shirk, Ty Heape, Jennifer Kirk, Maria Heape, Cody Allyn Heape, Joshua Bronke, Jerry McDonnough, Great Grandchildren- Riley Kirk, Jordan McDonnough, Jacob Shirk and Javen Shirk, sister- Johnanna Prusacki of Tamaroa, IL, two brothers- Richard Morrow and wife Joyce of Tamaroa, Max (Bubby) Morrow and wife Betty of Sondhiemer, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister- Kathryn George.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Dan McKinnies officiating.

E. Lucille Tunica
E. Lucille Tunica, 77, of Carbondale, formerly of St. Louis and Paradise Prairie area, passed away at 4:47 A.M., Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Lucille was a retired nurse and homemaker. She was of the Evangelical faith.
She was born February 16, 1925 at Tamaroa, IL, the daughter of Everett and Emma (Krone) Thompson.
She married
Bob Tunica at St. Louis, Missouri and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1975.
She is survived by one brother - Kenneth Thompson of Tamaroa, one sister - Elmira Lagattuta of Chicago, IL, two nieces - Marjorie Thompson of Kenosha, WI and Angie Anderson of Chicago, IL, and one nephew - Albert Thompson of Tamaroa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister - Helen Queen.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 18, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Paul Schultz officiating.

Ruth Alene Hennrich
Ruth Alene Hennrich, 75, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:15 P.M., Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin.
She was born on November 28, 1927 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Allen P. and Ella V. (Crabb) Taylor.
She married
Frank N. Hennrich Jr. on June 23, 1952 at Piggott AR and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1994.
She is survived by one daughter - Julie Taylor of Du Quoin, one grandson - David Hennrich of Du Quoin, several nieces and nephews including Bob Taylor and David Michael Taylor both of Du Quoin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 20, 2003 at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Carl Mesiti officiating.

Dennis Eugene Stanley
Dennis Eugene Stanley, 54, of Springfield, IL, passed away at 2:15 A.M., Thursday, January 23, 2003 at his residence.
Dennis was a sales representative for Borbein Young of St. Louis, MO and Byco Automotive of Springfield, IL. He was also manager of Quincy Wheel & Brake. He graduated from Fulton High School in Fulton, MO and Southwest Missouri State University. He was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed wood working.
He was born February 25, 1948 at Quincy, IL, the son of Harold and Colleen (Harris) Stanley.
He is survived by his parents - Harold and Colleen Stanley of Springfield, IL, one son - Shane Eugene Stanley and wife Andrea of St. Charles, MO, one daughter - Shannon Gregory and husband David of Warrenton, MO, four grandchildren - all of Missouri, sister - Deborah Berry and husband Richard of Augusta, MO, friend - Kathryn Hill of Springfield, IL, aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 27, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Bro. Jim Fisher officiating.

Malonia Weston
Malonia Weston, 95, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, formerly of Dowell, IL, passed away at 12:21 A.M., Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at United Hospital System at Kenosha Campus.
Malonia was a homemaker. She was a member of Dowell Baptist Church and attended Baptist Tabernacle in Kenosha.
She was born January 15, 1907 at Williamson County, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Fredonia (Cravens) Eillott.
She married
Harold Weston on May 15, 1925 at Murphysboro, IL and he preceded her in death in 1978.
She is survived by one son - Charles Franklin Weston and wife Rae of Oakdale, LA, one daughter - Lenora Barks and husband Everett of Kenosha, WI, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters - Lavonia, Jessie and Helen, and one grandson - Charles.
Funeral services were at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 18, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Bareis officiating.

Dorothy L. Highland
Dorothy L. Highland, 82, died Saturday, January 4, 2003, in Carbondale, Illinois. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at Huffman-Harker Funeral Home with Dr. K. Stephen Combs officiating. Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Huffman-Harker Funeral Home. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born on December 25, 1920 in Bush, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Rowena (Alexander) Petty. She married
Lewis R. Highland on August 31, 1942; he passed away on January 2, 1976.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She enjoyed her family, many neighbors and friends, cooking, and her numerous pets. She was of the Methodist Faith.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary A. and Betsy (Lerner) Highland of Carbondale, three grandsons, John, Chuck, and Bobby Highland all of Carbondale, a niece whom she thought of as a daughter, Sharon (Hayes) Childs and her husband John C. Childs of DuQuoin, great-nieces Katie and Laura Childs of DuQuoin, nieces Thelma (Stewart) Leek and Darla (Stewart) Macke, both of Elkville, and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Lewis R. Highland, Jr., one brother, Billy Joe Petty, and three sisters, Florence Stewart, Katherine Petty, and Imogene Keifer.

Scott Vancil
Scott Vancil, 90, of Dowell, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2003 at 10:45 p.m. at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Mr. Vancil was a Road Construction Operating Engineer for the Local 150. He was a member of Cathedral of Praise in Carbondale.
He was born March 2, 1912 in De Soto, the son of Cornelius and Mollie (Blacklock) Vancil. He married
Katie Horn on October 30, 1937 at St. Louis, Mo.
Surviving are his wife, Katie Vancil of Dowell; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda Vancil of Du Quoin; four daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Wayne Poole of Du Quoin, Laura James of Marion, Virginia and Roger Stewart of Dowell and Anita and Charles Kreid of Dowell; one sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and John Fleming of Du Quoin; 13 grandchildren, Tammy Seaward, Scott Morgan, Todd Morgan, Elisabeth James, Paul James, Tim Stewart, Gina Noble, Mike Stewart, Jami Vancil, Terri Young, James Vancil Jr., Brent Kreid and Kelli Price and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David; two sisters, Inez Woosley and Nora Hart; one son-in-law, Melvin James and one brother-in-law, James 'Lupe' Lane.
Funeral services were Wednesday, January 8 at 11 a.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Sis. Betty Davis, Bro. Donnie Colson, Bro. Keith Filer and Bro. Chuck Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment was in Hallidayboro cemetery.

Alfred Earl HayCraft
Alfred Earl HayCraft, 81, of Tamaroa, passed away at 5:01 P.M., Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at his residence.
Alfred was a retired farmer. He had also worked for Dragge Sawmill, Missouri Pacific Railroad, CocaCola Bottling Company, and until retirement at General Tire in Du Quoin. He was a US Navy veteran of W.W.II. He was a member of Tamaroa Pentecostal Church and Perry County Farm Bureau.
He was born January 30, 1921 at Randles, MO, the son of Joshua Columbus and Minnie (Kernell) HayCraft.
He married
Frances May Weisel on August 31, 1940 at Fredericktown, Missouri and she preceded him in death on September 14, 1985.
He is survived by one son - Richard E. HayCraft of Tamaroa, one daughter - Virginia Moss of Tamaroa, two foster children - Shirley Szczeblewski of Mulkeytown and Bonnie Faye Robinson of Du Quoin, seventeen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son - J.C. HayCraft, one daughter - Edna Pitman, one granddaughter, two great grandchildren, three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 11, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Rev. Jackie Joe Davison officiating.
