Imogene Stowers
Imogene Stowers, 71, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:15 P.M. on December 18, 2002 at her home.
Imogene was born January 10, 1931 in Du Quoin, the daughter of Earl and Ethel (Coffel) Lashbrook.
Surviving are her five children - Tannya (Ralph) Shockley of Du Quoin, Phillip (Connie) Flint of Du Quoin, Cindy Harris of Sesser, Illinois, Monte (Valerie) Flint of Princeton, Indiana, and Jay Stowers of Du Quoin; ten grandchildren - Michelle (Shockley) Kinsey, Angie (Shockley) Porter, Steven Shockley, Carrie (Flint) Rendleman, Holly Flint, Bobby Harris, Shawn Harris, Desiree Flint, Seth Flint and Tyler Stowers; seven great-grandchildren - Eli Kinsey, Emma Kinsey, Levi Porter, Laynee Porter, Nolan Flint, Shaygna Harris and Kinsey Harris; two brothers - Jack (Barbara) Lashbrook of Energy, Illinois, and Paul (Alberta) Lashbrook of Macomb, Illinois; three sisters - Wilma Woodside of Du Quoin, Sharon Ping of Du Quoin, and Diane (Bruce) Cavins of Du Quoin, one brother-in-law - David Jump of Du Quoin, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother - George Lashbrook, one sister - Janet Jump, one grandson - Shane T. Harris, one nephew - Danny Lashbrook, and one son-in-law - Bob Harris.
Funeral services were at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 21, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 12 to 2 P.M., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Hospice of Perry County.

Gary L. Stowers
Gary L. Stowers, 52, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2002 at his residence.
Gary was an examiner for the coal mines and had also worked at Blue Bell Packing.
He was born November 24, 1950 at Pinckneyville, the son of Dorothy Lee Stowers.
He is survived by two daughters, Tracy Asbury and husband Don of Du Quoin and Teresa Ruff and husband Matt of Du Quoin; six brothers, William Stowers, Clarence Stowers, Donald Stowers, James Stowers, Paul Stowers and Joseph Stowers; three sisters, Velma Harsy, Eva Elledge and Patsy Williams and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and three sisters.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 14 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.
Friends called from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Marie L. Warren
Marie L. Warren, 82, of Elkville, passed away at 2:00 A.M., Monday, December 23, 2002 at Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Marie was a homemaker and a member of Elkville United Methodist Church. She was secretary and treasurer of the church for many years. She was also a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Home Extension, and a Trustee of Rick Warren Memorial Library Board.
She was born July 15, 1920 at Devonshire, England, the daughter of James and Emily (Mee) Clipson.
She married Perry C. Warren on May 24, 1944 at Kattering, England and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Elkville and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son - Richard C. Warren on July 1, 1964.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 26, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. James Barnett officiating.
Friends called from 10 to 11 A.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home.
Interment was in the White County Memorial Gardens at Carmi, Illinois.
Friends may make memorials to Rick Warren Memorial Library or Elkville United Methodist Church.

Marian Lu Winthrop
Marian Lu Winthrop, 77, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:38 A.M., Friday, December 20, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Marian was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Du Quoin, Ladies Golf Association, and former PTA member. She was a graduate of Stephens Womens College in Columbia, MO.
She was born March 30, 1925 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Karl and Celeste (Cook) Weinberg.
She married Robert B. Winthrop on October 27, 1945 at Paducah, KY and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, two sons - John Robert Winthrop and wife Martha of Willisville, IL and Mike Karl Winthrop and wife Gail of Bellvue, OH, and five grandchildren - Meagan Winthrop, Elizabeth Winthrop, Geoff Winthrop, John Winthrop, and Ryan Winthrop.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Monday, December 23, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Dr. John Lewis officiating.
Friends called from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Cancer Research.

Dorothy Dee Bailey
Dorothy Dee (Nee Buttry)Bailey, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:50 A.M., Friday, February 14, 2003 at her residence.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of Sunfield Methodist Church and was active in the Methodist Women's Group at the church.
She was born December 13, 1924 at McLeansboro, IL, the daughter of Grady and Mary (McMahon) Buttry.
She married Lyle M. Bailey on April 6, 1980 at Sunfield and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1995.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law - Sudie Klingerman of O'Fallon, IL, one step son - Joe Bailey and wife Sara of Phoenix, AZ, one step daughter - Dianne Sautter and husband John of Lafayette, IN, one sister - Gladys Moore and husband Jim of Belleville, IL, stepmother - Delores Buttry of Belleville, IL, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son - Walter Klingerman, one grandson - Michael Klingerman, and one brother - Roy L. Buttry.
Funeral service was at 1:30 P.M., Monday, February 17, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Jerry Dunn officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Sunfield Methodist Church or TIP Hospice.

Charlie Edward Bell
Charlie Edward Bell, 61, of Fort Meade, Florida, formerly of Tamaroa, passed away at 9:05 A.M., Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at his residence.
Charlie was an electrical consultant with Minserco in Fort Meade, Florida and a retired Master Sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps., serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of First Christian Church in Tamaroa and attended First Baptist Church of Bowling Green , Florida. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W., member of Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion, Masons, and Shriners.
He was born June 23, 1941 at Tamaroa, IL, the son of Russell and Vera Mae (Laur) Bell Jr.
He is survived by his wife - Virginia Elizabeth (McCann) Bell, one son - Steven Centore of New York, four daughters - Cherie Bell Twist and Melissa Bell, both of West Frankfort, IL, Deborah Bayliss and Teri Centore, both of Omaha, NE, one sister - Doris June Klamm of Du Bois, IL, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends called from 5:30 to 8:30 P.M., Saturday, February 15, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Du Quoin VFW.
Mr. Bell's wishes were to be cremated after the visitation.
