Ida Elizabeth Moody
Ida Elizabeth Moody, 86, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:05 A.M., Friday, February 7, 2003 at her residence.
Ida was a retired lab technician and had worked at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin from 1944 until 1997 when she retired. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Du Quoin.
She was born January 31, 1917 at Pinckneyville, IL, the daughter of George Henry and Elizabeth (Hepp) Albers.
She married William Gayle Moody on January 31, 1937 at Du Quoin, IL and he preceded her in death on March 5, 1969.
She is survived by one daughter - Karen Goodwin of Du Quoin, grandchildren - Larry Goodwin Jr. and wife Kristy of Du Quoin and Laurie Kellerman and husband James of Du Quoin, great grandchildren - Ryan Goodwin, Courtney Kellerman and Paige Kellerman, great great grandchild - Cole Allen Goodwin and one sister - Joyce Pick of Du Quoin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers - George Albers and Edward Albers, and son-in-law - Larry G. Goodwin Sr.
Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 10, 2003 at Bethel Lutheran Church at Du Quoin with Rev. John E. Johnson officiating.
Friends called from 7 to 9 P.M., Sunday at Bethel Lutheran Church and from Noon to 1 P.M., Monday at the church.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Bethel Lutheran Church or Marshall Browning Hospital Capital Campaign.
Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin was in charge of arrangements.

Marybelle Moore
Marybelle Moore, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:50 A.M., Saturday, February 22, 2003 at her residence.
Marybelle was a retired garment worker at Country Set in Du Quoin. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Du Quoin.
She was born March 18, 1917 at Centralia, IL, the daughter of Wesley H. and Effie (Smith) Kirkland.
She married Teddy A. Moore on September 26, 1936 at Benton, IL and he preceded her in death in December 1978.
She is survived by two sons - John W. Moore and wife Carla K. of Du Quoin, and Ronald W. Moore and wife Lucretia of Oakdale, IL, three sisters - Betty Moore of Du Quoin, Corina Leslie of Ottawa, IL, and Lucille Hughes of Rock Falls, IL, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, one sister, and one grandchild.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. John E. Johnson officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Bethel Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Richard Lee Peterman
Richard Lee Peterman, 71, died at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2003 at Jackson County Rehab and Care Center.
He was born September 24, 1931 in Eldorado to Fred and Blondel Peterman. He married Floy Sue Pike on October 27, 1951 in Evansville, Indiana. She survives.
He attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, majoring in Business Administration. He was a photographer in Peoria. He was in the Grocery business for 50 years, a past Kroger Manager in Evansville, Indiana, West Frankfort and Du Quoin. He was a co-owner and manager of Boren's IGA in Carbondale.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #234 in Du Quoin for 39 years.
He was a past Sunday School teacher, President of John A. Logan Antique Club and Rotary Club of Du Quoin. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Carbondale for 33 years.
He was an avid antique collector, loved to camp and spend time in the wilderness. Most of all he loved and cherished his family and spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of Carbondale; one daughter, Deborah Ann Mannino and son-in-law, Sam Mannino of Du Quoin; one son, Michael Lee Peterman and daughter-in-law, Gail Lynn Peterman of Carbondale; three grandchildren, Melissa Ann Mannino Cobin and husband Tim Cobin of Du Quoin, Justin Michael and Jenna Renee Peterman of Carbondale and one brother-in-law, Thomas E. Humphrey of Evansville, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
The visitation was Friday, February 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. by Masonic Lodge #234, Du Quoin.
The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Carbondale with Rev. John Annable officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale.

Monya Fern Ann Place
Monya 'Monday' Fern Ann Place, age 60, of Ashley, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away suddenly in Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL Monday, February 10, 2003.
Monya was born in Pinckneyville, IL, April 2, 1942 the daughter of Hubert E. and Effie M. (Houghland) Place. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, IL and attended the Assembly of God Church in Nashville, IL. Monya was also a member of the Eastern Star, Women's Club of Pinckneyville, IL, and the PTA. She was a worldwide traveler following her entrepreneurial dreams.
Monya is survived by her husband, Adrian Cox of Ashley, IL, one son, Steven J. Marlow and his wife Emily R. of Barrington, IL, one daughter, Beth Guerrero and husband Adrian of Fitchburg, MA, two brothers, Gene Place and wife Patricia of Pinckneyville, IL, Hubert C. Place and wife Janet of O'Fallon, IL, two sisters, Sandra Francis and husband Harold of Nashville, IL, Marilyn Heisner and husband Leonard of Pinckneyville, IL, and two grandchildren, Adam and Anthony. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were Friday, February 14, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, IL with Reverend Edgar Howe officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation was at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. till services.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society.

Walter C. Prusacki
Walter C. Prusacki, 98, of Tamaroa, passed away at 4:15 A.M., Saturday, February 8, 2003 at the home of his granddaughter in Centralia.
Walter was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa. He was a member of the Perry County Farm Bureau, whose membership number in the organization was #1, he was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Walter was born June 11, 1904 at Radom, IL the son of Joseph and Catherine (Luczak) Prusacki.
He married Clara Marshalek on May 2, 1927 at Du Bois, IL she preceded him in death on December 31, 1968.
He is survived by two daughters- Cecelia Hass of Nashville, IL and Tillie Radake of Cahokia, IL, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Eugene Prusacki, grandson- Kenneth Prusacki, four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 17, 2003 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.
Friends called from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. The Rosary was recited at 7:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.Funeral Friends may make memorials to the Immaculate Conception Church or Cemetery.

Dennis Earl Russell
Dennis Earl Russell, 56, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away at 5:33 a.m. February 3, 2003.
Dennis was born at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin on June 8, 1946 to the Late Rev. Clifford Earl Russell, of Herrin, and Betty Baggett Corso of 108 S. Mulberry St.
Dennis worked at Alton Box Company in Jonesboro, Arkansas for 25 years as a designing engineer. He was a member of the Straw Floor Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher.
He was a devoted Cub fan for 40 years. Three days before his death he was honored with a phone call from Ryan Sandburg, a former Cub player, and Hall-of-Famer Ernie Banks, who was his all-time favorite.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Clifford Russell, his paternal grandparents, Edward and Mabel Russell of Herrin and his maternal grandparents, Earl and Ruby Baggett of Du Quoin.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Russell; his son, Brice Russell and wife Carrie and his daughter, Michelle Russell Brown and her husband Steve Brown. He is also survived by his grandchildren, John Allen Chapman, Makayla Goetz, Halley Russell and Trey and Corey Benice, all of Jonesboro, Ark.; his mother, Betty Russell Corso of Du Quoin; two sisters, Kathy Hagler and husband Gerald of Du Quoin, Belinda Biggers and husband Fred of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Dennis was the poster boy for the March of Dimes Polio foundation in 1952. Donations may be made to the Post Polio Syndrome Organization in Jonesboro, Ark, of which he was a member.
Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ark. was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on February 4. Funeral services will be held at the Straw Floor Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on February 5.
He will be missed, but not forgotten.
