Beulah E. Gossett
Beulah E. Gossett, age 94, of Pinckneyville, died in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit on June 22, 1999 at 4:06 p.m.
Beulah was born in Ashley on November 3, 1904, the daughter of James Wiley Hicks and Anna Catherine (Brown) Hicks. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville.
Survivors include three sons, James H. Priest and wife Jane of Storrs, CT, Tommy Gossett and wife Kathy of Nashville, TN and Paul E. Gossett of San Diego, CA; one sister, Stella Addison of Carterville; seven grandchildren, Jackie Rackle of Wethersfield, CT, Wayne Priest of Ashford, CT, Denton May, Justin Mayo, Todd Mayo, Griffin Mayo and Katie Mayo, all of Nashville, TN; four great-grandchildren, Dennis Rackle, Jennifer Rackle, Megan Priest and Liza Priest; one niece, Leona Dempsey and one nephew, Kenneth Hicks, both of Pinckneyville.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Harry William Priest and O.L. Gossett and a brother, Nelson Hicks.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 25 at the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Bush officiating. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville.
Dorothy Dee Gray
Dorothy Dee Gray, age 75, of Pinckneyville, died in the St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO on Saturday, June 26, 1999.
Dorothy was born on October 23, 1923 in Harrisburg, the daughter of William and Helen (Jackson) Threet. She worked as a nurse’s aid at the St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. She had been living in Pinckneyville since 1992.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Janice Rennison of Pinckneyville; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jack Threet of Peoria, William Threet of El Cajon, CA and Harold Threet of Hot Springs Village, AR and two sisters, Phyllis McCollum and Sandra Moldenhauer, both of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Norma McClain, Thelma Cathcart and two in infancy.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 28 in the Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville at 1 p.m. with Rev. Duane Bolinger officiating. Interment will be in the Trammel Cemetery in Stonefort, IL.
Visitation was held on Monday at the Pyatt Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time of services.

Louise Harkins
Louise Harkins, 71, of Carbondale, formerly of DuQuoin, passed away at 11:28 a.m. Sunday, June 6, 1999 at the Abbey of Carbondale. She had lived in Carbondale since 1962.
She was born May 2, 1928 at Ullin, the daughter of John Hagler and Ida McBride. She married Milton Harkins at Cairo, IL on April 14, 1946 and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1982.
She was a retired Dietary Aide at Southern Manner Nursing Home and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hallidayboro. She was a former member of Daughters of Isis in Cairo, IL and the Eastern Star of Carbondale, IL.
Surviving are two daughters, Viola McIver of Washington D.C. and Jackie Harkins of Lockport, IL; six grandchildren, Tyra Passmore, Kimberly Passmore, Shannon Harkins, Lamont Harkins, Damon Harkins and Scott Baxter; three sisters, Ernestine Burrage of Durham, NC, Geraldine McDaniel of California and Mary Shaw of Wisconsin; three brothers, Rubin Newman of New York and Leroy Newman and Lloyd Newman, both of Kansas City, MO; a brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Irene Harkins of Harvey, IL; a brother-in-law, Roscoe Harkins of Indianapolis and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one daughter.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 11 at 12:00 Noon at Maxton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert James officiating. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery in DuQuoin.
Bobby Gene Harris, Sr.
Bobby Gene Harris, Sr., 48, of Sesser, passed away Monday, June 14, 1999 at 6:10 a.m. at his home.
He was a Coal Miner. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the DuQuoin American Legion.
Mr. Harris was born March 23, 1951 at DuQuoin, the son of neal Franklin and Louise (Swallers) Harris. He married Cindy Flint on November 6, 1971 at DuQuoin.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Harris of Benton; two sons, Bobby G. Harris, Jr. of Benton and Shawn Harris of Sesser; three brothers, Neal Franklin Harris, Jr. of DuQuoin, Danny Joe Harris of Dowell and Jerry Wayne Harris of Georgia; one sister, Betty Rose Harris of Saudi Arabia and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Shane.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Miner officiating.
Interment was in the Old DuQuoin Cemetery.
Raymond C. Jones
Raymond C. Jones, 70, of DuQuoin, passed away at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Mr. Jones was a security guard for General Tire. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the DuQuoin Friendship Club. He was of the Catholic faith.
Raymond was born July 20, 1928 at Coulterville, the son of Casey and Mamie Elizabeth (Manning) Jones. He married Della Hall on May 25, 1964 at Chicago and she preceded him in death on August 23, 1982.
Surviving are one son, Raymond Calvin Jones, Jr. of Chicago; three daughters, Rae Denise Jones of DuQuoin, Diane Jones of Carbondale and Sherri Jones of DuQuoin; one brother, Lawrence Jones of Chicago; two sisters, Gladys Webb of Chicago and Carolyn Hunt of Kansas City; ten grandchildren, Raymond Jones, Bryan Jones, Delisha Jones, Trisha Jones, Shannon Jones, Kierra Jones, Trevon Jones, Quetin Jones, Della Lee and Tevin Lee and 24 nieces and nephews and 30 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 6 at 1 p.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. Leonard Sanders officiating. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery.
Anna Kabat
Anna Kabat, 85, of Nashville, passed away at 8:22 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 1999 at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville.
Anna was a homemaker and had worked as a CNA for several years at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois and the Catholic Daughters.
She was born July 26, 1913 at DuBois, the daughter of Stanley and Antonia (Wisniewski) Skorczewski. She married Ignatius (Nick) Kabat on June 16, 1931 at DuBois and he preceded her in death on May 11, 1989.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Radake and husband Rich of Tamaroa; two sons, Fr. Carl Kabat of DuBois and Robert Kabat and wife Shirley of DuBois; one daughter-in-law, Lorene Kabat of DuBois; one brother, John Skorczewski of Pinckneyville; two sisters, Martha Kryger of Scheller and Marian Kreger of DuBois; 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and two sons, Leonard Kabat and Fr. Paul Kabat.
Funeral services were Friday, July 2 at 10 a.m. at the St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois with Fr. Daniel Jurek officiating.
Interment was in the St. Charles Cemetery at DuBois.
Friends may make memorials to the Mary House or the St. Charles Church Renovation Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Frankie M. Keene
Frankie M. Keene, 83, of DuQuoin, passed away at 10:29 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999 at the Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
Mrs. Keene was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of DuQuoin and the Euzelian Sunday School Class.
She was born March 25, 1916 at Tamaroa, the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Long) Britton. She married Dale Keene on December 13, 1938 at Perryville, MO and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1971.
She is survived by three sons, Charles Keene and wife Karla of Shipman, IL, Howard Keene and wife Sandra of Collinsville and Russel Keene and wife Jane of Collinsville; one brother, Warren Britton of DuQuoin; three sisters, Lois Davison of DuQuoin, Charlene Frederick of Lyons, IL and Bernice Winthrop of Highland Park, IL; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother— Bill and one sister—Mildred Marshall.
Funeral services were Monday, June 14, 1999 at10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in DuQuoin with Rev. Roger Balfour officiating.
Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery in DuQuoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
