Hazel Wilson
Hazel Wilson, 90, of New Athens Home for the Aged, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2003 at 6:50 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and a member of Gospel Assembly Church of Du Quoin. She was born March 4, 1913 in Windsor, Mo., the daughter of Ora D. and Emma L. (Feather) Jones. She married Ardell A. Wilson on July 11, 1936 at Waterloo and he preceded her in death on August 14, 1995.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell A. and Dee Wilson of Battle Creek, Mich.; one daughter and son-in-law, LaDona Mae and Larry Weekley of Marissa; two grandchildren, Larry Joe (Kim) Weekley and Michelle (Tony) Weber; five great-grandchildren, Shane, Dustin & Bryan Weekley and Ricky and Ryan Weber and one sister-in-law, Audrey Jones of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Paul. Lester, Clyde James and Lewis Jones and two sisters, Ruth Darrah and Lillie Helen Jones.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 23 at 1 p.m. at Gospel Assembly Church of Du Quoin with Rev. Dennis Fitzsimmons officiating. Interment was in Tilden Cemetery.
Friends called at the Neal-McClure Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at which time visitation moved to the church from 11:30 a.m. until time of services.
Memorials may be made to New Athens Home for the Aged or the donor's choice.
Barbara Ann Alvis
Barbara Ann Alvis, 67, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:12 P.M., Monday, July 28, 2003 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Barbara worked at the Dietary Department at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin and as a private care nurse. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a member of Du Quoin American Legion, Du Quoin VFW Auxiliary, and Senior Citizens of Du Quoin.
She was born June 6, 1936 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Charles Theodore and Mary Lucille (Gilliam) Tilley.
She married James Patton Alvis on June 8, 1954 at Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on September 26, 1993.
She is survived by three sons - James P. Alvis Jr. of Mishawaka, IN, Frankie T. Alvis of Du Quoin, and Jerry W. Alvis of Du Quoin, one daughter - Susan Varner of Du Quoin, two sisters - Frieda Longshore and Debra Zorn, both of Du Quoin, three brothers - John Tilley, Ted Tilley, and Bobby Tilley, all of Du Quoin, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 31, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. C.L. McKinnies and Rev. Dan McKinnies officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Inez L. Antalick
Inez L. Antalick, 90, of Du Quoin, formerly of Poplar Bluff, MO., passed away at 4:40 P.M., Friday, July 25, 2003 at the home of her niece in Du Quoin.
Inez was retired from Emerson Electric. She was a member of the Electrical Workers Union.
She was born October 30, 1912 at Vergennes, IL the daughter of John and Laura (Hart) Jennings.
She married Joseph P. Antalick in 1942 at St. Louis, MO. He passed away in 1984.
She is survived by two brothers- John Jennings and wife Hazel and William Earl Jennings all of Murphysboro, niece- Sandra Wendling and husband Robert of Du Quoin, other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Black Creek Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Friends called from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday at the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Interment was in the Black Creek Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, MO.
The Searby Funeral Home of Du Quoin was in charge of local arrangements.
Bernard Clem Boczek
Bernard Clem Boczek, 59, of Van Nuys, California, formerly of Du Bois, passed away at 3:30 P.M., Friday, July 11, 2003 at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, CA.
Bernard worked as a mechanic for the airline industry. He was a US Navy veteran of Viet Nam. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois.
He was born April 12, 1944 at DuBois, IL, the son of Walter and Regina (Kruski) Boczek.
He is survived by one son - Anthony Boczek and fiance Ana of Van Nuys, CA, two daughters - Angie Boczek of Laughlin, NV, and Amanda Boczek of Van Nuys, CA, mother - Regina Kruski Boczek of Du Bois, IL, four sisters - Rose Marie Berger and husband George of Ashley, IL, Josephine McCowen and husband Donald Ray of Waltonville, IL, Margaret Kujawa and husband Daniel of Granite City, IL, and Carolyn Niedbalski and husband Ed of Du Bois, IL, one uncle, two aunts, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 19, 2003 at St. Charles Catholic Church at Du Bois with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Rosary was prayed at 7 P.M., Friday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the St. Charles Cemetery at DuBois.
Military graveside rites were conducted.

Maxine Bullock
Maxine Bullock, 92, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:27 A.M., Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Maxine was a retired florist and had worked in the floral business from 1972 until 2002. She was also a retired teacher at Sesser-Valier School. She was a member of Green wood United Methodist Church and was a seventy-seven year member of the church. She was also a member of Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Retired Teacher's Association, Perry Co. Retired Teacher's Association and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Southern Illinois University.
She was born July 16, 1911 at Sesser, IL, the daughter of John Moore and Epsa Swisher Moore Eubanks.
She married Spruel E. Bullock on August 7, 1935 at Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2002.
She is survived by her children - Joy McClellan and husband William of Mt. Vernon, IL, Bobbie Ingram and husband J.T., of Du Quoin, IL, Bill Bullock and wife Donna of Johnston City, IL, and Larry Bullock and wife Sherry of Du Quoin, IL, ten grandchildren - Teresa DalSanto, Jennifer Benedict, Bryan Ingram, Laura Spain, Sandy Bullock, Christina Busch, Tenille Bullock, Linaya Alvarez, Trevor Bullock, Courtney Overturf, and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother - Wayne Moore, and one grandson - Mike.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 2, 2003 at Green wood United Methodist Church at Mulkeytown with Rev. David Morgan and Bro. Percy Pavloff officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9 to 10 A.M. Saturday at the church.
Interment was in the Green wood Cemetery at Mulkeytown, IL.

Ceceilia Crawford
Cecelia Crawford, (sister of late Golda McLemore), formerly of Du Quoin, died July 2, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.
Ms. Crawford was born in Amite, Louisiana on March 3, 1910. Her family moved to Du Quoin in the early 1920's, where she resided until she was a young adult. She then relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Cecelia worked and lived in Chicago until January 2003, when her health prevented her from living alone. Cecelia moved to Evanston and was a resident of the St. Francis Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother and sister.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Mamie Kelly of Energy, Mary Taylor of Evanston, Douglas (Janice) Kelly of St. Louis, Mo., Leon (Lindell) Kelly of Du Quoin, Robert (Jackie) Kelly of Anchorage, Alaska and a host of grand, great-grand nieces and nephews, devoted cousins and friends.
Visitation and services were Saturday, July 12 at the St. Paul Baptist Church, 126 N. Linden, Du Quoin. Visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m. and services are from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Elder Robert Kelly and Rev. Leon Kelly officiated.
Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery in Du Quoin.
Professional services were by Algee's Funeral Home of Carbondale.
