Dorris Mae Campbell
Dorris Mae Campbell, age 80, of Pinckneyville, passed away at her home Thursday, February 5, 2004.
Dorris was born in East St. Louis on December 22, 1923, a daughter of Roy and Ruby (Hanson) Reidelberger. She married C. Dean Campbell on February 6, 1944 in Pinckneyville and he survives.
Dorris was a homemaker and was employed for many years at Stotlar Drugs in Pinckneyville. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Pinckneyville, Tri-Sigma Sorority and a quilting club in Percy. Dorris enjoyed camping and spending time with her family.
Dorris is survived by her husband; three sons, Joe Campbell and wife Becky of Albers, Jim Campbell and wife Lindell of Pinckneyville and John Campbell and wife Londa, also of Pinckneyville; eight grandchildren, Erinn, Ben, Sam, Joey, Jamie, Jeff, Zach and Olivia and two great-grandchildren, Kannon and Alyssa. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Jayne.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 9 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Pinckneyville at 11 a.m. with Reverend Tom Hobson officiating. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Sunday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. and again on Monday morning from 8 until 9:30 a.m. then at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church of Pinckneyville.
Rose E. Bruns
Rose E. Bruns, age 86, of Pinckneyville, died at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2004 in Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Rose was born January 6, 1918, a daughter of Robert and Margaret (Kellerman) Eichholz. She was united in marriage to Joseph K. Bruns on September 17, 1935 and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1996. Rose was a life-long resident of Pinckneyville; a homemaker and a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Reno and husband Don of Medora, Ill. and Paulette Valier of Pinckneyville; two sons, Lawrence 'Larry' Bruns and wife Florence of Pinckneyville and Paul Bruns and wife Pat of Pinckneyville; one daughter-in-law, LaDonna Peradotto; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Wheeles of Pinckneyville and one brother, Robert Eichholz of Ruma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, six sisters; three sons, Raymond, Dennis and Charles and two great-granddaughters, Audrey Ginn and McKenzie Hope Cheek.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 17 at 10 a.m. in the St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment was in the St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Monday, February 16 from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 until 9:30 a.m. The Rosary was said at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to the St. Bruno School or St. Jude's Hospital.
James J. Bruno
James J. Bruno, age 95, of Pinckneyville, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 7:50 p.m. in the Sparta Community Hospital.
James was born in Pinckneyville on January 23, 1909, a son of Joseph and Domnicia (Monti) Bruno. He was of the Catholic faith, a farmer and a laborer in the Belleville Local.
Survivors include three sons, James J. Bruno of Crystal River, Florida, William Joe Bruno of Homestead, Fla. and Richard A. Bruno of Belleville; four daughters, Rose M. Schubert of New Athens, Dorothy Miester of Mojave Valley, Arizona, Patricia A. Wilderman and Jo Ann Bruno, both of New Athens; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Louie A. Bruno, John B. Bruno, Angelo Bruno and Joe Bruno and a sister, Maggie Bruno.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 21 at 4 p.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville.
Elaine M. Bird
Elaine M. Bird, 64, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:44 P.M., Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Elaine was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, Catholic Daughters of America and the Sacred Heart Quilters.
She was born June 28, 1939 at Du Quoin, IL the daughter of William and Camilla (Meloux) Jasecko.
She married Jerry D. Bird on August 20, 1960 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, daughter- Patty VanVoorhis and husband Jay of Astoria, IL, four grandchildren- Anna and Sara VanVoorhis of Astoria, IL and Laura and Lane Bird of Lawrenceville, IL, brother- William Jasecko and wife JoAnn of Du Quoin, mother-in-law- Dale Bird of Du Quoin, sister-in-law- Yasuko Bird of Du Quoin, brother-in-law- James Bird and wife Jeanie of Benton City, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-Michael Bird and brother-in-law-Donald Bird.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
Friends called from 6 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. The Rosary was prayed at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Masses or the Sacred Heart Church.
Frank E. Bigham
Frank E. Bigham, age 79, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2004 in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital at 2 a.m.
Frank was born on April 24, 1924 in Pinckneyville, the son of Gilbert and Zoe (Trefftzs) Bigham. He married Lillian Thomas on April 25, 1958 in Union City, Tennessee and she survives. Frank worked for 29 years at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital as a Maintenance Technician.
During his lifetime, Frank was a dairy farmer, exhibited Jersey cattle, was a member of the American Jersey Cattle Association, the Illinois Jersey Cattle Club, was the longest exhibitor of Jersey cattle in the state of Illinois and at the Du Quoin State Fair, was a member of the Pinckneyville F.F.A. Alumni Association, an honorary member of the Pinckneyville Firemen's Association and was a member of the Perry County Fair Board for more than 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Pinckneyville; three children, Ilene Ruroede and her friend, Brian Mayer, of Pinckneyville; Frank A. Bigham and his fiancee, Tania Keller, of Pinckneyville and Tibretta Reiman and her husband, Randall, of Pinckneyville; a brother, Harold 'Cotton' Bigham and his wife, Margo, of Gulf Breeze, Florida; a sister, Mary Hinman of Yorkville, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Agnes Bigham of Phoenix, Arizona; an expected grandson, James Earl Reiman and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dale, James and Harry and one sister, Ethel Kurrelmeyer.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 24 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, with Kevin Place officiating. Interment was in the Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Pinckneyville.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Monday from 4 until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 until 9:30 a.m. then at the church from 10 a.m. until services.
Memorials may be made to the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Frank Bigham Beautification Fund or Pinckneyville Firemen's Association.
Mary Catherine Benson
Mary Catherine Benson, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:00 P.M., Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Mary was a homemaker and had owned and operated the Jack & Jill Shop in Du Quoin for thirty years. She was a charter member of the Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin and was a active worker in the church.
She was born January 26, 1926 at Du Quoin, the daughter of Pete and Beulah (Barnett) Phipps.
She married Albert "Red" Benson, Jr. on February 1, 1947 at Du Quoin, IL. He passed away October 27, 1990.
She is survived by one son- Mark Benson and wife Terri of Du Quoin, two grandsons- Matthew and Joshua Benson both of Du Quoin, two sisters-in-law- Sally Phipps of Du Quoin and Fern Benson of Hillsboro, several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.
Friends called from 9 to 11 A.M. Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Wanda Marie Wynn
Wanda Marie Wynn, 68, of Tamaroa, passed away at 11:00 P.M., Monday, August 25, 2003 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville.
Wanda worked as a seamstress at Bridal Originals for twenty-three years. She was a member of Apostolic Light House in Tamaroa and Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was born October 18, 1934 at Tamaroa, IL, the daughter of Montford and Louella (Rice) Osborne.
She married Marley Gorman Wynn on November 19, 1954 at Mt. Vernon, IL and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1999.
She is survived by two sons - Gorman Wayne Wynn of Tamaroa and Everett Wynn and wife Alice of Waltonville, two daughters - Pruda Morris and husband John of Du Quoin and Wanda Montgomery and husband Michael of Tamaroa, one brother - Billy Dean Osborne and wife Betty of Kentucky, eight grandchildren - Danny, Heather, Derek and Chad Wynn, Justin, Joshua, and Jonathan Morris, and Emily Simpson, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 28, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Rev. Joseph Crowe officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Interment was in the Paradise Cemetery at Tamaroa.
