David Clarence Suchomski
Mr. David Clarence Suchomski, of rural Pinckneyville, departed this life at the Washington County Hospital in Nashville on Monday, August 13, 2001 at 12:32 p.m. after a sudden illness. He was 75.
Mr. Suchomski was born on January 3, 1926 in Perry County, the son of Michael and Mary V. (Wrzesniewski) Suchomski. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Wagner at St. Barbara Catholic Church at Scheller on August 30, 1952 and she survives his passing.
David was a retired farmer and operated a saw mill. he was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 520 of Mitchell and was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church at Todds Mill.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Dorothy Suchomski of rural Pinckneyville; nine children, Marilyn (Scott) Haberl of St. Louis, Mo., Shirley (John) Kissell of Olathe, Kan., Helen (Robert) Starkweather of Kingsland, Tex., Catherine Jean Suchomski of Pinckneyville, Wayne (Sandra) Suchomski of Pinckneyville, Pauline Suchomski of Rantoul, Leo (Sandra) Suchomski of Ashley, Edward Suchomski of Pinckneyville and Lucille Suchomski of Swansea; nine grandchildren; a sister, Theresa (Mel) Gattie of Cape Coral, Fla.; nieces, nephews, other relations and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Anna Perjak and Cecelia Barebo and two brothers, Al and Joseph Suchomski.
Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church at Todds Mill on Saturday, August 18 at 10 a.m. with Fr. James Van Oss officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Friends called at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
A Vigil Prayer Service was held at the Campagna Funeral Home Friday at 7 p.m.

Mary Ellen Pace
Mary Ellen Pace, 82, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away Friday, August 17, 2001.
Mrs. Pace was born May 2, 1919 in DuQuoin. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Curtis Pace; daughter, Elizabeth Pace of Eugene, Oregon; sister, Dorothea Flannery and a brother, William Koontz.
Lundberg Mortuary White Rose Chapel in Glendale, Arizona was in charge of arrangements.
Burial took place at a later date at National cemetery.
Lela Mae Reiman
Lela Mae Reiman, 85, of Ava, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2001 at 12:35 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Mrs. Reiman was a homemaker and a member of Sato Baptist Church in Ava.
She was born Wednesday, September 8, 1915 at Ava, the daughter of Samuel Joseph and mary Clementine (Underwood) Thompson. She married
Earl Wesley Reiman on March 4, 1939 in Jackson, Mo. and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald and Thelma Reiman of Ava and Roger and Deborah Reiman of Ava; one daughter, Karen and Curtis Butz of DuQuoin; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Claude Thompson of Ava and one sister, Mildred Dutour of Mesa, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
Funeral services were Thursday, August 30 at 11 a.m. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Don Caraway officiating. Interment was in Ava Evergreen cemetery.
Friends called at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava after 5 p.m. on Wednesday and on Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until the hour of service.

Delores M. Radake
Delores M. Radake, 69, of Tamaroa, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2001 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin.
Delores was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa.
She was born September 16, 1931 at Tamaroa, the daughter of Emil and Helen D. (Betlejewski) Radake.
She is survived by two brothers, Gerald Ratajczyk of Tamaroa and Conrad Ratajczyk of Pinckneyville; sister, JoAnn Mendel of O'Fallon, Mo. and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Norman Radake.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 1 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. The Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the Immaculate Conception cemetery at Tamaroa.

Deanna Lynn Russell
Deanna Lynn Russell, 42, of DuQuoin, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2001 at the home of her parents in DuQuoin.
Deanna was a homemaker and had worked at McDonalds and as an admitting clerk at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was a member of Paradise Prairie Baptist Church.
She was born August 26, 1958 at DuQuoin, the daughter of Robert D. and Alice J. (Roberts) Dorsey. She married
Mark K. Russell on September 26, 1993 at Sunfield Baptist Church in DuQuoin and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of DuQuoin; parents, Robert D. and Alice J. Dorsey of DuQuoin; two brothers, Robert Steven Dorsey and Gary Dean Dorsey, both of DuQuoin; four nephews, Andy Joe Dorsey, Timothy Paul Dorsey, Garrett Michael Dorsey and Collin Gene Dorsey and one niece, Maddison Elizabeth Dorsey.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 28 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Rev. M. Shaw DeMent officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin.
Interment was in the Antioch cemetery at Tamaroa.

Charles J. Riggs
Mr. Charles J. "Jerry" Riggs, 59, of Nebo, Ky., died at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2001 in the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. of heart failure.
Born in Hopkins County, Ky. on July 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Claudie Ashby and Francis "Sissy" Riggs Cox.
Mr. Riggs was a coal miner for the Amax Coal Co. and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of the Madisonville Praise Temple. He entered the U.S. Army in 1964 and was stationed in Hawaii. He was a radio operator with the Lightning Brigade of the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam and later was with the 2nd Battalion of the 27th Infantry Division.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Riggs of Nebo, Ky.; two daughters, Cindy Riggs VanCleve of Manitou, Ky. and Stacey Riggs Moore of O'Fallon, Mo.; three sons, Tony Riggs of Waynesboro, Tenn., David Riggs of New York and Cameron Riggs of Nebo; his step-father, Herbert Cox of Lewisport, Ky.; two step-children, Danny Cooper II of Mortons Gap, Ky. and Carolyn Louise Huddleston of Earlington, Ky.; one sister, Darlene Finley of Whitesville, Ky.; three brothers, Donnie Cox of Lewisport, Hubert Cox Jr. of Hanson and Ricky Cox of Owensboro, Ky.; three sons-in-law; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 8 at the Praise Temple with Rev. Richard Sisk officiating. Burial followed in the Onton cemetery.
Friends called on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Delmar L. Stanley
Delmar L. Stanley, 69, of DuQuoin, passed away at 4:34 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Delmar was a retired fork lift operator for Leaver Bros. Mfg. Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was born August 12, 1931 at DuQuoin, the son of Edward and Letha (Kelley) Stanley. He married
Mary Zagdlo in 1959 and she preceded him in death in 1966.
He is survived by a daughter, Betty Thompson of DuQuoin; two sons, John Klinski of Colorado, William Stanley of California; two brothers, Russell Stanley and Ray Stanley, both of DuQuoin; two sisters, Imogene Stanley and Dorothy Rice, both of DuQuoin; two grandchildren, Phillip Thompson and Kara Klinski and a long-time close friend, Rose Dolalie of Rosemont, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Joseph; three brothers and one sister in infancy.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 15 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Rev. Carl Mesiti officiating.

Interment was in the Old DuQuoin cemetery.
Harry W. Brown
Harry W. Brown Jr., age 83, of Pinckneyville, died Thursday, June 21, 2001 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Ill.
Harry was born in Pinckneyville on December 7, 1917, the son of Harry M. Brown Sr. and Gertie (Wheatley) Brown. He married
Beaulah Tanner on September 21, 1937 in Lithieum, Mo. Harry worked for Bollmeier Construction Co., and was a member of the UMWA #2117. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a lifelong member of Beaucoup Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Okaw Amateur Radio Club.
Survivors include his wife, Beaulah of Pinckneyville; a daughter, Barbara Penrod and husband Rev. Delbert Penrod of Rochester; three grandchildren, Douglas Penrod and wife Debbie of Blacklick, Ohio, Dennis Penrod and wife Kim of Payson and leanna Barber and husband Mark of Riverton; one sister, Virginia Jackson and husband Harold of Adamsville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruby Emery.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 23 at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville at 1 p.m. with Rev. J.O. Mathenia officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Visitation was at the funeral home on Friday, June 22 from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 23 from 8 a.m. until services.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Thresherman's Association.
Nellie G. Green
Nellie G. Green, 81, of Centralia, departed this life on Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at 6:55 a.m. at the Fireside House in Centralia.
Mrs. Green was born at Stonefort on July 18, 1919, the daughter of Sherman and Lillie Mae (White) Burlison. She was united in marriage to Verlin Green in 1967 in Centralia and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1977.
Mrs. Green was of the Baptist faith and she was a homemaker.
Left to mourn her passing are two step-sons, Chris Green of Centralia and Bruce Green of Taylorville; one brother, Everette Burlison of Centralia; a sister, Ruby Freeman of Wabash, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Edith Burlison of Centralia and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verlin, one brother, Archie and one sister, Wanda Ferguson.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley. Reverend Kenneth Qualls officiated.

Lawrence L. Bigham
Lawrence L. Bigham, age 98, formerly of Cutler and rural Pinckneyville, died Monday, July 16, 2001 at 9:45 p.m. in the Fairview Nursing Center in DuQuoin.
Lawrence was born in Perry County on May 31, 1903, the son of Jefferson Ebenezer and Harriet Rosetta (Elkins) Bigham. He married
Cora May McClure on May 9, 1931 in Cutler and she survives. He was a farmer, a member of the Galum Presbyterian Church, rural Pinckneyville, loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Cora; four sons, John of Murphysboro, Leslie of Richland Heights, Tex., Robert of Florissant, Mo. and Tom of DuQuoin; seven daughters, Bonita Wampler of DuQuoin, Barbara Tempero of Longmont, Colo., Ann Salto of Altamont, Francis Nevis and Mary Kent, both of Bridgeton, Ind., Martha Mansker of Willisville and Erna Moon of Black, Mo.; two sisters, Stella Mitchell of Belleville and Bonnie Branum of Alice, Tex.; 38 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Richard; a grandson, Rusty Tempero; two sisters and three brothers.
Friends called at the First Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, on Wednesday, July 18, 2001 from 6 until 9 p.m. an at the church on Thursday from 8 a.m. until services.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the Galum Presbyterian cemetery, rural Pinckneyville.

James G. Elkins Sr.
James G. Elkins Sr., 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:00 P.M., Friday, July 20, 2001 at his residence.
Jim was a retired real estate broker. He had owned and operated A-1 Cleaners from1934 to 1965. He had been a broker and appraiser at Elkins Real Estate from 1965 to 1991. He was a member of the Du Quoin First Baptist Church for 70 years. He hosted Gospel Singing Time in Little Egypt over WDQN radio in Du Quoin for 26 years. Jim founded the Harmonairs Quartet in 1952. He was a charter member of the Du Quoin Kiwanis Club and a member for over 30 years. He was a member of the Du Quoin Lions Club for a number of years. Jim had been named the Du Quoin Rotary Club Man of the Year. He was a member of the Egyptian Board of Realtors and was involved in many real estate and brokers organizations.
He was born December 1, 1912 at Mulkeytown, IL the son of James G. and Ethel (Parks) Elkins.
He married
Leona K. Wohlwend on January 5, 1938 at Benton, IL she passed away January 4, 1999.
He is survived by two sons- James G. Elkins Jr. and wife Doris of Tempe, AZ, Dr. John G. Elkins and wife Phyllis of Columbia, SC, four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Billie J. Luke
Billie J. Luke, 75, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2001 in Hemet, California.
Mr. Luke was born November 7, 1925 in St. Louis, Mo. He is survived by his wife, Zonia; two sons and two daughters.
Funeral services were held at Calvary Chapel in Menifee, California on Wednesday, July 18 at 11:30 a.m.
Interment was in Riverside National cemetery in Riverside, California.
