Golda Patterson
Golda Patterson, 87, 200 Somerset Road, Harrisburg, died 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at Hardin County Hospital.
She was born Jan. 17, 1914, in Pope County, the daughter of Walter and Ida Tucker, who preceded her in death. She married
Jewell Patterson, who preceded her in death April 29, 1994.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001 at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry Dean Anderson will officiate. Burial is in New Hope cemetery, Herod. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 at the funeral home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Herod Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Patterson and Jim Patterson, both of Harrisburg; two daughters, Essie Anderson, Golconda, and Judy DeBose, Eldorado; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Reuben Tucker; three sisters, Helen May, Ruby Owens, Sylvia Pierce; one grandson, Adam Patterson.
Eva Varble Walker
Eva Varble Walker, 78, Dawson Springs, Ky., died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at her residence.
She was born May 22, 1923 in Paducah, Ky., daughter of C.A. and Estelle (Fetty) Varble, who preceded her in death. She married
Johnnie G. Walker, who preceded her in death Sept. 19, 1982.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001 at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, Ky. The Rev. Leo Hall, assisted by Jerry Scott, will officiate. Burial is in Rosedale cemetery, Dawson Springs, Ky. Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 at the funeral home.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church. She was employed at Arvins and 4-H camp.
She is survived by one son, Michael A. Walker, Dawson Springs, Ky.; two daughters, Sherron Kay Scott, Galatia, Patricia Mitchell, Dawson Springs, Ky.; one brother, Charles C. Varble, Princeton, Ky.; six grandchildren, Anita Hunt, Nelson Scott, Sheldon Mitchell, Stephanie Utley, Becky Walker and Daniel Walker; four great-grandchildren, Everlie Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, Zachary Hunt and Kyle Scott; two step grandchildren, James K. Arnold and April Shrum.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Karron Sue Walker; and one brother, Clarence Edward Varble.
Ruth Hutchcraft
Ruth Hutchcraft, 91, of McLeansboro, died 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Health Care Center in McLeansboro.
She was the widow of John Young and Jesse Hutchcraft.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at the funeral home.
She is survived by eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Billy Gibbons
Billy Gibbons, 63, of 640 Town Park Rd., Harrisburg, died 7:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at his residence.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Harold Miller and the Rev. Victor Long officiating. Burial will be in Salem cemetery. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at the funeral home.
He was born Apr. 2, 1938, in Harrisburg to the late Ray and Carrie (Raymer) Gibbons. He married
Linda Noonan, who died April 10, 1981. On June 5, 1982, he married
Sharon Gee.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 364 at Carrier Mills and a member of the legion Honor Guard. He was a retired coal miner, having worked for 27 years at the Eagle No. 2 mine at Shawneetown.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Julie (Herb) Sumner, Marion; two sons, Larry Gibbons, Harrisburg, and Bruce (Kim Gee) Gibbons, Carrier Mills; three brothers, Gene (Nina) Gibbons, Frank (Harlene) Gibbons, Art Gibbons, all of Harrisburg; a sister, Dorothy Brown, Harrison, Mich.; and six grandchildren, Kaci, Kory, and Kody Sumner, Molly Gibbons, and Meagan and Christopher Gibbons.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the American Legion Post No. 364 Honor Guard.
Linden Holland
Linden Holland, 63, of Carrier Mills, died 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at his residence.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating and military rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions. Burial will be in the Taylor cemetery near Vienna. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 16, 1938, in Vienna, to the late Omer and Beulah (Taylor) Holland. He married
the former Phyllis Pearson on May 18, 1989, and she survives.
He was retired from the Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Carrier Mills American Legion and the Creal Springs V.F.W.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cathy Holland-Rix, Carrier Mills, a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kim Holland, Indianapolis, Ind.; two grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron Holland, Indianapolis; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Don Kerley, Goreville, Leann and Bob Cremeens, Equality, a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Pat Holland, Vienna; three stepchildren, Geral Ann Escue, Carrier Mills, John Robinson, Simpson, Cindy Reeder, Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Frances McGhee
Frances McGhee, 78, of Shawneetown, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown with the Rev. Marlene Hargrave officiating. Burial will be in Westwood cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at the funeral home.
She was born in Shawneetown on Sept. 18, 1923, to the late Otto and Susie (Hall) Barger. She was married
to Edgar McGhee, who preceded her in death in 1990.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Barbre, Equality, Patty Blair, Shawneetown, Judy Holloway, Coulterville; two sisters, Edna Monroe, Shawneetown, Aline McGhee, Clinton; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul Maynard; three sisters, Opal Frailey, Vivian Lynn, Violet Johnson, and two brothers, Lester Barger and Harold Cummings.
Frank Mitchell
Frank Mitchell, 94, of 2124 Ridge St., Eldorado, died 9:23 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation is 1 p.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1907, in Equality, to Edward Franklin and Mary Margaret (Markham) Mitchell. He married
Ruth Mitchell, who preceded him in death.
He was a truck driver and worked at Scot Lad.
He is survived by a daughter, Vivian Holland, East Alton; three grandchildren, Terry (Jan) Lawrence, Plano, Texas, Steve (Wendy) Mitchell, Raleigh, Robin Russell, Indianpolis, Ind.; and seven great-grandchildren, Shannon, Shea, Tiffany, Beth, Chase, Audra, and Dakota.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward Mitchell; one grandson, Rick Lawrence; one brother, and four sisters.
Lorena Farmer Feazel
Lorena Farmer Feazel, 77, of Raleigh, died 4:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Raleigh Masonic cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.
She was born May 14, 1924 in Raleigh to the late Dan and Emma (Rockwell) Farmer. On Aug. 4, 1946, she married
the Rev. Delmar Feazel, who preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1999.
Mrs. Feazel was a member of Broughton First Baptist Church. Her elementary education was accomplished at the Raleigh Elementary School. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, receiving the Bachelor of Science in Eduacation and the Master of Science in Education degrees. She was a life member of the National Education Association, a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the Gallatin/Saline Retired Teachers Association. She taught at Wasson, Raleigh, the Jefferson School in Eldorado, and the Eldorado Elementary School. After 34 years of teaching, she retired from the Eldorado Unit 4 School System on July 1, 1984.
She is survived by a nephew, Kenneth Farmer, Green Oaks, and nieces Louise Swan, Harrisburg, Lotella Cole, Harrisburg, Leona Younger, Raleigh; a sister-in-law, Pauline Farmer Harbison, Raleigh; and several great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Estella Wesley, and brothers Charley Farmer, Orville Farmer, and Clifford Farmer.
Flora McAnnally
Flora McAnnally, 75, of 1220 W. Madeline St., Harrisburg, died 2 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 12, 1926 in Harrisburg to the late Joseph and Maude (Dooley) Feazel. She married
Edward McAnnally, who died March 21, 1990.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a sister, Hazel Agin, Harrisburg, a stepson, Jim Irvin, Yuma, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Joe Feazel; and two sisters, Molly Sanders and Helen Belcher.
