Robert D. Wright
Robert D. Wright, 82, of 35 McKinley St., Stonefort, died 5:15 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg. Burial will be in Ward cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at the funeral home.
He was born June 14, 1919, in Golconda, to the late Alonzo and Ella (McNew) Wright.
He served in the Army during World War II, worked for General Motors and owned Wright's Disposal.
He is survived by three daughters, Alice (Richard) Friedman of Huntsville, Ark., Ella Mae Laird of Kenosha, Wis., and Anita Mahin of Harrisburg; a stepdaughter, Gladys (Albert) Lucas of Waukegan; two sons, Richard McDermott of Shawneetown and William A. Wright of Harrisburg; two nieces, Vickie Blackman and Ella Krikie, both of Harrisburg; and a special friend, Irene Bozarth of Stonefort.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Lee and John D. Wright, and a sister, Rachel Dorris.
Mary Flahardy
Mary Flahardy, 81, of 196 E. Roosevelt St., Shawneetown, died 3:19 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Services were held 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2002, at the Shawneetown Church of God with the Rev. Richard Holt officiating. Burial will be in Westwood cemetery in Shawneetown. Visitation was 11 a.m. to service time Monday at the church. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born August 6, 1920 in Shawneetown, daughter of the late George and Lily (Thomas) Seely. On March 5, 1949, she married
George Flahardy, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Shawneetown Church of God.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Norma (Wayne) Jones of Shawneetown, Bertie Brooks of Fairfield, Becky (Johnnie) Christian of Holly Grove, Ark., Roberta Thompson of Equality; seven sons, Gary Flahardy and Lawrence Martin, both of Shawneetown; Monty (Twilla) Flahardy of Shawneetown, Danny (Linda) Martin of Sesser, Mike (Judy) Flahardy of West Frankfort, Rex (Scarlet) Flahardy of Harrisburg, and Clifford (Lynn) Flahardy of Germany; four sisters, Ailene Brooks of Shawneetown, Margaret Butts of Eldorado, Betty Rings of Stoveia, and Lolene "Bill" Williams of Shawneetown; 30 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Lou Martin, two sisters, Dorothy Gordon and Barbara Sparrow, and three brothers, Tom, John, and Harry Seely.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God Orphans Fund because Mary always gave $1 to $3 a week to the Orphans Fund.
Lillian Crosley
Lillian Crosley, 89, of 603 Edith St., Junction, died 9 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with the Rev. Ted Boulds and the Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Hogan cemetery in Shawneetown. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born June 26, 1912, in Leamington to the late Harry Roland and Iva Elizabeth (Black) Blakely. On Dec. 25, 1934, she married
Raymond "Bullets" Crosley, who preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1981.
She was a retired rural postal carrier in Junction, a homemaker, and a member of Junction General Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Ann (Phillip) Brazier of Shawneetown; three granddaughters, Debbie (Bob) Oldham of Jacksonville, Ark. Melinda (Kim) Robbins of Junction, and Carla (Greg) Howard of Shawneetown; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Blakely, and two brothers, Claude Blakely and Lloyd "Preacher" Blakely.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Hogan cemetery, the Junction General Baptist Church, or the Hospice of Southern Illinois at 1110 N. Johnson St., Marion.
Rev. Edward Ewell
Rev. Edward Ewell, 92, a resident of Saline Care Center in Harrisburg, died 9:04 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lormer "L.E." Hicks officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bernie Cowgill. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born April 15, 1909, in Saline County to Thomas Jefferson and Martha (Reynolds) Ewell. On Sept. 5, 1932, he married
Nona Sue Hibbs, who preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 1992.
He was a member of Sloan Street General Baptist Church in Harrisburg and the Ohio Association of General Baptists.
He is survived by a son, Don Ray (Rita) Ewell of Equality, a daughter, Sue (Carl "Shorty") Stokich of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Tony (Veronica) Ewell, Angie (Doug) Drone, Kim (Dale) Courtney, and Sheri (William) Davis; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Tuttle, Shawn Drone; Kasey, Josh, and Nick Courtney; Kayla and Alyssa Ewell; Michael and Jared Stokich; and Devin Davis; a great-great-granddaughter, Jacie Dawn Tuttle; and two stepgrandchildren, Blane and Dayne Davis.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ezra, Charles, and Josh Ewell; four sisters, Myra Colbert, Verby Ewell, Mary Kincaid, and Frances Stilley; and a grandson, Randy Dean Ewell.
Henry D. Wettaw
Henry D. Wettaw, 91, of 1722 Benton St., Eldorado, died 11:45 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2002, at Poplar cemetery with the Rev. Walter Baker officiating. There will be no visitation. Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Feb. 2, 1911, in Eldorado to George and Hettie (Davis) Wettaw. He married
the former Nancy Parrish, who preceded him in death in April 1987.
He was a businessman and served in the army during World War II. He belonged to the Presbyterian Church and the Eldorado Lions Club for 61 years.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Wettaw of Houston, Texas, and John Wettaw of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a special friend, Sue Sterling of Eldorado; a sister-in-law, Earlene Wettaw of Eldorado; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ellsworth; three stepgrandchildren, Chris Henard, Julie Eshelman, and Craig Henard; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Don Robert Wettaw, and a brother, Robert N. Wettaw.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Eldorado, or the donor's choice.

Mary Jane Stewart, 85, McLeansboro, died 1:25 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Enfield Health Care Center.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Pollard officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by a daughter, a sister-in-law and four grandchildren.

Martha Crews, 82, McLeansboro, died 7:10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery near McLeansboro. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2002, at the funeral home.
She is survived by two sons, a daughter, seven grandchildren, and one stepgranddaughter.
Marie Miller
Marie Miller, 95, of Eldorado, died 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Bruce Cullers officiating. Burial will be in Jackson cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 4, 1907, in Ridgway to William H. and Grace R. (Simmons) Gross. She was the widow of George Miller, who preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1983.
She was a retail clothing clerk and attended Eldorado First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two nephews, Gilbert Lloyd of Morton and Carl Strum of Longwood, Fla.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Etha Sturgill.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Eldorado First Baptist Church.
Thelma Barrett Marshall
Thelma Barrett Marshall, 92, of Harrisburg, died 2:55 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Sunset Lawn cemetery with the Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery. There will be no visitation. Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born May 20, 1909, in Eldorado to Charles and Jose (Fletcher) Barrett. On Nov. 26, 1933, she married
Kenneth Marshall, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1999.
She was a homemaker and a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
She is survived by a son, Charles P. Marshall of Eldorado; four grandchildren, Allen Marshall and Linda Marshall, both of Eldorado, Mickey Marshall of Benton, and Charles Marshall of Harrisburg; four great-grandchildren, Chad and T.J. Marshall and Casey and Logan Sheldon; and a sister, Bobbi Stanley of Eldorado.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dee Barrett, and two sisters, Helen Odum and Ruby Thompson.
