Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Burton Wells officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta.

Franklin Sisky, 68, of 619 N. Jackson St., Harrisburg, died 3:47 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002.

Curtis R. Melton
Curtis R. Melton, 71, of the Cottonwood community, Omaha, formerly of Kentucky, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at his daughter's residence after an extended illness with cancer.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at Second Baptist Church in Providence, Ky., with the Rev. Fred Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows cemetery in Clay, Ky. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown.
He is survived by four daughters, a son, 16 grandchildren, and eight grandchildren.
Gladys Bowen
Gladys Bowen, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at her daughter's residence in Meadows Place, Texas.

James Walter Hubbard
James Walter Hubbard, 80, of Route 1, Golconda, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Hosick Funeral Chapel in Rosiclare with the Rev. Charles DePriest and the Rev. Steve Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Lavender cemetery in Herod. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at the funeral home.
He had retired from the Hardin County Highway Department, was an Army Veteran of World War II, and a member of the Union Social Brethren Church.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita (Williams) Hubbard of Golconda; a son, Faye (Wesley) Donithan of Elizabethtown; a son, James (Buddy) (Creda) Hubbard of Junction; two brothers, Otis Hubbard of Cave-in-Rock and Gene (Opal) Hubbard of Elizabethtown; three sisters, Betty (Jim) Hollon and Marcella (Jim) Belt, both of Elizabethtown and Christine (Herb) Vinyard of Harrisburg; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otie and Mina (Vanbibber) Hubbard; a brother, Earl Hubbard; and two sisters, Lora Davis and Beulah Hubbard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Union Social Brethren Church and left at the funeral home.
Robert G. Knox
Robert G. Knox, 63, of Alsip, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island.
Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at Raleigh Masonic cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, three sons, a brother, and nine grandchildren.
Vernon Fillingim
Vernon Fillingim, 81, died 8:29 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Services were held 1 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2002, at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights with the Rev. Russell Chitwood officiating.
Burial was in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Visitation was 11 a.m. to service time Monday.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters and sons-in-law, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, and two brothers and sisters-in-law.
George A. Alexander
George A. Alexander, 78, of Harrisburg, died 2:22 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind.
Services were held 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Bruce Cullers officiating. Burial was in Sunset cemetery. Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1923, in Harrisburg to the late W.E. and Elizabeth (Ingram) Alexander. He married
the former Jean Grubbs in 1947.
Mr. Alexander was a World War II Navy veteran, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Linda (Randy) Johnson of Harrisburg; a son, Danny (Barbara Ann) Huston of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Steven, Jeff, and James "Whipper" Johnson of Harrisburg, Kristin Melton of Norris City, and Jason, Jeremy and Hanna Huston of Kansas City, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Brayden, Austin and Brennan Johnson, Madelyn and Morgan Johnson of Harrisburg, Mackenzie Melton of Norris City; and four nieces and five nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harry, John, Floyd and Wilburn, and sisters Lorene Aldridge and Ina Bridgewater.
Jeremy Keith Welling
Jeremy Keith Welling, 17, Newton, died about 5:45 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2002, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Born March 5, 1985, he was the son of Bernard Keith and Darlene (Hall) Welling of 12635 E. 1600th Ave., Newton, Ill. 62448. He was a junior at Newton Community High School class of 2003, and worked part-time at the Newton Dairy Queen. His hobbies included basketball, collecting baseball cards and being outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he his survived by his sister, Amanda Jean Welling, and his brother, Joshua Paul Welling of Newton; his grandparents, Paul "Buzz" and Jeanie (Farmer) Welling of Lawrenceville and Harrisburg; Wanda and Floyd Rotramel of West Frankfort, James and Janine Hall of Mt. Vernon; great-grandmother, Betty Russell of Mt. Vernon; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral was Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton with Pastor Ron Culp officiating. Burial was in Hunt cemetery in rural Newton.
Charles Leonard Hish
Charles Leonard Hish, 84, of 809 E. Main St., Ridgway, died 3:55 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Ridgway Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2002, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ridgway with Father Mark Stec officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery in Ridgway with military rites being performed by Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
He was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Ridgway to Frank J. and Anna (Bahl) Hish. He married
the former JoAnn Luckett, who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1965. On March 29, 1967, he then married
the former Helene Kaufman, who survives. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ridgway and served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of the Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596. He was a lifelong farmer in the Gallatin County area.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Jeanett (James) Payne of Ridgway; a brother, Earl (Doris) Hish of Ridgway; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the St. Joseph's cemetery Fund.
Monette Blackburn
Monette Blackburn, 88, of Galatia, died 6:40 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Galatia.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Alan Porter officiating.
Burial will be in Brushy cemetery in Harco. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1913, in Saline County to the late Tom and Eliza (Taylor) Fowler. On Sept. 18, 1928, she married
Loyd Franklin Blackburn, who preceded her in death on March 30, 1995.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Galatia.
She is survived by two sons, David (Grace) Blackburn of Galatia and Jerry Blackburn of Paxton; a daughter, Frances (Edward) Darnell of Panama City, Fla.; four sisters, Betty Hitchcock of Carrier Mills, Virginia Widick of Eldorado, Evelyn Carr of Arizona and Jan Robinson; 11 grandchildren, seven out of state and four local, Cindy and Terry Blackburn, both of Galatia, Angie Hoffman of Carmi and Jason Blackburn of Galatia; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
