Pauline Clary, 92, of 2 N. Skaggs St., Harrisburg, died 8:10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Equality. Visitation is 1 p.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1910, in Elba to Charles J. and Carrie (Risinger) Blankenship. She married
W.E. Cleary, who preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1963.
She was a guard at Dwight Women's Prison and a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
She is survived by a sister, Imogene (Earl) Chisim of Aurora, Colo., and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Ford Blankenship, and a sister, Fern Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church in her memory.

James Elwood Moore, 82, of Macedonia, died 6:18 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Leland Widick officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at the funeral home.
Ruby Jerlene Volkert
Ruby Jerlene Volkert, 75, of rural Route 1, Elizabethtown, died 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002.
Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Church of Christ in Elizabethtown with Eugene Pigg officiating. Burial will be in Dixon/Volkert cemetery in Elizabethtown. Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare. The body will be moved to the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday for services.
John Marion Frailey
John Marion Frailey, 74, of 123 N. Locust St., Manteno, died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at his residence after an extended illness.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, at the Church of Christ in Bourbonnais with Tom Tate officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Manteno. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Browns Funeral Home in Manteno.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lee Frailey; two sons; three daughters; a sister; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Robert N. Patton
Robert N. Patton, 95, of Junction, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with the Rev. Terry Hall officiating. Burial will be in Leavell Hill cemetery in Junction. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1906, in Gallatin County to the late Watson and Sarah Jane (Miles) Patton. On March 9, 1935, he married
Beulah (Wiltshire) Patton, who survives.
Robert was a retired farmer. He was president of the Leavell Hill cemetery Association for many years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Pisgah General Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, the Rev. Robert (Carol) Patton of Junction, David (Marsha) Patton of Junction, Kenny (Carolyn) Patton of Equality; three daughters, Mary (Arthur) Heath Jr. of Shawneetown, Myrna (Rev. Leo) Hall of Norris City of Norris City, Sylvia McGrew of Granite City; a brother, Andrew Patton of Junction; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Patton, five brothers and a sister. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Leavell Hill cemetery in Mr. Patton's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Georgia Boatright
Georgia Boatright, 88, of Newburgh, Ind., formerly of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Newburgh.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Sunset Lawn cemetery with the Rev. Howard Scott officiating. There will be no visitation. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery. Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Sept. 23, 1913, in Harrisburg to George and Isabella (Gentry) Adkins. She married
Frank Patterson, who died in 1967. She then married
Raymond Boatright, who died in 1981.
She was a homemaker, a member of Harrisburg First Christian Church and was a Past Noble Grand of Rebekahs Lodge.
She is survived by a son, David Patterson of Indianapolis, Ind.; two granddaughters, Mrs. John (Gina) McBride of Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Kevin (Letitia) Clontz of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Sarah McBride, Jonathan McBride and Gage Clontz.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Woodland Convalescent Center in Newburgh, Ind., or the Vista Care Hospice in Evansville, Ind. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
Monsignor John E. "Jack" Stallings
Monsignor John E. "Jack" Stallings, 77, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002.
He was born in East St. Louis on Sept. 15, 1924, to the late John Stallings Sr. and Rose A. (Creane) Stallings.
Monsignor Stallings was a well-known Catholic priest in the Shawneetown area for many years.
His education into the priesthood began with six years at the St. Henry's Prep School, two years at the Cardinal Glennon Prep Seminary and four years at Kennrick Seminary.
On May 28, 1950 in Belleville, he was ordained a Roman Catholic priest.
His first assignment was from 1950 to 1956 being an assistant at Sacred Heart Parish in East St. Louis. He was then transferred to Shawneetown where he was the priest for St. Mary's in Shawneetown and St. Patrick in Pond Settlement from 1956 to 1982. From 1982 to 1984 he pastored at St. Joseph in Elizabethtown and from 1984 to 1999 he pastored at St. Mary's in Harrisburg. He also was administrator at St. Joseph in Ridgway and Equality for a short time. He retired on July 18, 1999.
Monsignor Stallings was very active in the priesthood, he was a member of the Priests Senate, Dean of the East Deanery for eight years, Member of the Priest Personnel Committee, Chairman of the Priest Continuing Education Committee, Co-Director of Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, Teacher at Old Central and New Assumption High School and Chairman of Community Affairs Dept. of Illinois Catholic Conference.
Monsignor Stallings was also very active in his civil life. He was executive director of the East St. Louis Development Corp., president of Galmon Corp., president of East Side Development Corp., secretary of Okaw Valley Corp., director of Target 2000 East St. Louis, president of Chamber of Commerce in Shawneetown, chairman of the Shawneetown Regional Port Authority and chairman of Shawneetown Sesquicentennial Celebration in 1960.
His surviving family is four sisters, Mary Ann and Martin Hazelhorst of Trenton, Josephine and Al Heger of Pinehurst, N.C., Therese Schmalz of Sterling, Ursula and Jerry Tabaska of Craig, Colo.; one brother, Paul J. Stallings of Tenn.; 18 nieces and nephews; and many grand-nieces and -nephews.
At Monsignor Stallings request, his body was donated to science at St. Louis University. There will be a memorial mass 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Shawneetown with the Most Reverence Bishop Wilton Gregory officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Monsignor asks that donations be made to the East St. Louis Development Corporation. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Rose Marie Riegel
Rose Marie Riegel died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 in her home.
Funeral Services will be held at the Sloan Funeral Home, Galatia, 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, 2002, with Rev. Jon Cockrel and Rev. Vola Sittig, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery, Harrisburg. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2002 at the funeral home.
Rose was born January 27, 1949, to Josephine Wilkins. She was reared in the home of Wayne & Mary Ethel Cockrel of the rural Metropolis area.
She was united in marriage to William Lowell Riegel, June 4, 1971 at the Methodist Church in Joppa. To this union was born William David Riegel of Manhattan, New York and Daniel Scott Riegel who resided at home.
Rose was employed by the Wabash County Nursing Home, Carmi, where she enjoyed her work as a nurse in the care of the elderly. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, her sons, and foster mother, Mary E. Cockrel, Warrensburg. Her in-law parents, Grant & Jo-ann Riegel, Harrisburg, and Alan & Alice Weed, Benton, sisters Margie (William) Groskopf, Elkville, Velma Morgan, Hawaii, brother Ricky McGill and foster brother, Jon (Betty) Cockrel of Warrensburg, and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Wilkins, and foster dad, Wayne Cockrel.
Memorial donations may be made to a trust fund that will be established for Daniel who is a patient in ICU at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, his condition is presently stable but he is paralyzed from his waist down.
As is many things of life that are so difficult to understand as is this senseless and tragic loss of life, of one who gave so much.
Judith Ann Amberger
Judith Ann Amberger, 60, of 625 Lone Oak Road, Harrisburg, died 11:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be held 6 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Jimmy Hamilton officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service. A private burial will take place at Sunset Lawn cemetery at a later date. Visitation is 5 p.m. to service time Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born June 2, 1941, in Harrisburg to the late William and Imogene (Oldham) Coltrin.
She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church and worked as a registered nurse at Harrisburg Medical Center for 12 years.
She is survived by a son, David Amberger of Murphysboro; a daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Knott of Terre Haute, Ind.; three sons, Robert Dale (Sandra) Amberger of Largo, Fla., Richard (Virginia) Amberger of Nashville, and Scott (Sheila) Amberger of Galatia; four brothers, Edwin Cobb of Sevierville, Tenn., William Coltrin of Columbus, Ohio, Curt Reed of Pontiac, Mich., and Jerry Reed of Harrisburg; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and much-loved sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
