Donald Ray Heltsley, 72, of Centralia, formerly of Eldorado, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Mt. Vernon Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Boyd cemetery in Dix. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.
Vida A. Wagner
Vida A. Wagner passed away at her home in Apache Junction, Ariz., Dec. 10, 2001. She was born in Harrisburg, Saline County, Illinois to Lemuel Fulkerson and Stella Mable Carr Fulkerson on Jan. 21, 1917.
In the early 1930s Vida and her sister Lela moved to the Pontiac, Mich., area to seek employment. Vida married
Charles Everett Barger in 1936, and they had one son, Charles Richard Barger. Vida became employed as a riveter for General Motors Truck and Coach at the outbreak of World War II. Vida and Charles were divorced in 1958, and she later married
David Wagner. Vida was an avid bowler all of her life and participated in many WIBC National Tournaments.
Vida and David moved to Arizona in 1978 after retiring from General Motors Truck and Coach Division. Her son Charles Richard Barger, her husband, David, and sisters Neva (Fulkerson) Gidcumb and Lela (Fulkerson) Roblin and her brothers, Millege Fulkerson and Garland Fulkerson preceded Vida in death. Two grandchildren and their spouses and three great-grandchildren survive her.
Funeral arrangements are by Mountain View Mortuary and Memorial Gardens, Mesa, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1028 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix, Ariz. 85006
Alfred Little
Alfred Little, 68, of 315 St. Joseph Dr., Ridgway, died 5:19 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held at the Graumlich & Son Funeral Service in Columbus, Ohio, with burial at the Obetz cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. Local visitation is 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway.
He was born Oct. 29, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Edward and Elsie (Simone) Little. He married
the former Sally Snoots, who survives.
He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the Franklin County Treasurer's Office in Columbus, Ohio, and served as deputy treasurer. He was a member of the Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596 and the Southgate Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Ruth Bruce, Westerville, Ohio; a brother, Edward Little, Columbus, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Deborah Larimer, Johnstown, Ohio, Sandra Neff, Worthington, Ohio; a stepson, Jack McFarland, Columbus, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, and four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Little.
Wendell Baker
Wendell Baker, 72, of 1515 Raleigh Rd., Raleigh, died 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at his residence.
He was married
to Margaret Baker, who survives.

Wilma Bernice "Pinse" Foster, of Franklin, La., formerly of Muddy, passed away at her residence 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.

Charles Lamar, 75, of 365 Pankey Rd., Carrier Mills, died 8:24 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Rachel Jane Middleton
Rachel Jane Middleton, 88, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Harrisburg, died 9:05 a.m. Nov. 13, 2001, at Memorial Herman, Memorial City in Houston.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg with the Rev. Jay Herring officiating. Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Dec. 18, 1912, in Harrisburg to Willie E. and Anna (Raley) Pankey. On Nov. 25, 1937, she married
Harold "Jack" Middleton, who preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2001.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Harrisburg.
She is survived by a son, Mark A. Middleton of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Ann Leigh Clements of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Bill Pankey of Palatine; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Rachel Jane Middleton will be laid to rest Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Sunset Lawn Cemtery. Please join her family in paying homage at the passing of a remarkable woman who valued family and friends. All family and friends gather with us at 2 p.m. at Sunset Lawn cemetery.

Wilma R. Law
Wilma R. Law, 84, of 3385 state Route 34 South, Harrisburg, died 10:22 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, at J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Leroy Hicks and the Rev. Darrell Ford officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Equality. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Equality, to the late G.E. "Dutch" and Pearl (Syers) Crest. She married
Phinas Allen Law, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1974.
She worked as a child care aide for A. L. Bowen Childrens Center for 17 years and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue (Larry) Field of Harrisburg; three sons, Robert (Phyllis) Law of Normal, Edward Phillips of Portland, Ore., and Joe Phillips of Harrisburg; two granddaughters, Tracy (Jeff) Adams of Galatia and Natalie (Bruce) Field-Graul of Herrin; four grandsons, Danny (Sherry) Field of Vienna, Bryan Waite of Harrisburg, Steven and Matthew Coloni of Woodfield, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Russell (Gennie) Law of Eldorado; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a foster brother, Charles Arthur.
Virgie Ellen DeBose
Virgie Ellen DeBose, 71, of 920 W. Idlewild Dr., Evansville, Ind., died 8:07 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Leonard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 3, 1930, in Morganfield, Ky., to William "Pete" and Lily Mae (Mayville) Dye. On May 16, 1946, she married
Tomas DeBose, who preceded her in death.
She was a certified CNA.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Coy) Vaught of Evansville, Ind., and Bertha (Brad) Stricklin of Eldorado; a brother, Albert Lee Dye of New Trenton, Ind.; three sisters, Bertha Brakie, Lula "Lu" Clark and Kelly Littlepage, all of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Katie Lynn and James Thomas Vaught of Evansville, Ind., and Andrew and Amanda Stricklin of Eldorado.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Williams, and two sisters, Mary Louise Dye and Omia Elizabeth Heath.
William H. 'Bill' Roberts
William H. "Bill" Roberts, 85, of 200 W. Logan St., Harrisburg, died 5:55 p.m. at Harrisburg Medical Center on Tuesday, March 12, 2002.
He was born in Harrisburg on Jan. 3, 1917, to the late Leslie Earl and Lacie Lee (Potter) Roberts. On Dec. 23, 1933, he married
Freda Pankey and she survives in Harrisburg.
In his earlier years, Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He had previously been a foreman for New York Central Railroad, was a coal miner, and worked at the Standard Oil Company filling station in Harrisburg. He was elected Harrisburg Township Road Commissioner for three terms from April 1955 through April 1967. He was also employed by both the Harrisburg Water & Sewer Departments where he retired from at age 62.
In 1963, Bill was one of the original founders of the World Trot Banquet (later known as the Hambletonian). He had served as Congressional District Treasurer and Chairman of the Southern Illinois House/Senate District Committee and he was chairman of the 118th Representative District. He was either heavily involved in or was coordinator for the following U.S. Presidential Campaigns: Tom Dewey, Barry Goldwater, Dwight Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George Bush; Illinois state governor campaigns: Dwight Green, Bill Stratton, Richard Ogilvee, James Thompson, James Edgar and George Ryan; U.S. Senator campaigns: Ray Page, Wayland Brooks, Everett McKinley Dirkson, Ralph Tyler Smith, Bill Scott, Charles Pearcy and many more.
During the Saline County Sesquicentennial Celebration in 1997, he was recognized as being the oldest active politician. He had been a precinct committeeman for over 52 years and chairman of the Saline County Republican Central Committees for over 43 years. He became a member of Woodmen of America at 15. He was a Master Mason of the Harrisburg Lodge No. 325 A.F. and A.M. and would have been eligible for his 50-year member pin this April. He belonged to I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 365, also in Harrisburg. Bill had also been a member of First Baptist Church of Harrisburg for 63 years.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Freda Jane Roberts of Harrisburg; daughter, Barbara Jane Fulkerson; son, Wendell (Frannie) Roberts; granddaughter Jane (Bobby) Fields, all of Harrisburg; great-grandson Daniel (Jennifer) Hutchinson of Carbondale; sister Laverne (the Rev. Vola) Sittig of Eldorado; sister-in-law Helen Roberts and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Earl and Lacie Lee (Potter) Roberts; a brother, the Rev. Kenneth Roberts; a sister, Geneva, in infancy; a brother, Homer, also in infancy; a son-in-law, Roy H. Fulkerson; and parents-in-law, Charles W. and Elva J. Pankey.
Evening visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel, with Masonic Rites at 8 p.m. Morning visitation is 9 to 10 a.m., at the funeral home and 11 a.m. to service time Friday, March 15, 2002, at First Baptist Church of Harrisburg.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, at First Baptist Church of Harrisburg with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Harrisburg.
Brent Allen Moore
Brent Allen Moore, 42, of Evansville, Ind., formerly of Cave-in-Rock, died at his home in Evansville.
He was born March 27, 1960.
He is survived by his mother, Marilyn (Dennis) Padgett of Cave-in-Rock; his father, Galen (Ada) Milligan of Harrisburg; a son, Clint Russell Moore of Eldorado; his wife, Lisa Moore of Eldorado; two brothers Tim (Debbie) Moore of Shawneetown and Gregg (Brenda) Moore of Norris City; and a sister, Julie (Bobby) Whitledge of Eldorado.
Visitation services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
