Joseph Lynn Casteel Jr.
Joseph Lynn Casteel Jr., 60, of 405 E. Michigan, Evansville, Ind., formerly of Muddy, died 11 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Kenny Mayhall officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Muddy, to the late Joe and Edith (Tyree) Casteel. On Jan. 3, 1964, he married the former Wilma Dunning in Harrisburg, and she survives.
He worked for Tri-Counties Chemical Co. as a chemical applicator. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 to 1974.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Bill (Mary) Casteel of Evansville, Ind., Joe Casteel of Oakland City, Ind.; a daughter, Juanita (Carl) Olson of Brooksville, Fla.; seven brothers, Allen Casteel of Midland, Texas, Alvin Casteel of Equality, Darrell Casteel of Midland, Texas, Harold Casteel of Harrisburg, Hubert Casteel of McLeansboro, Jack Casteel of Harrisburg, Tom Casteel of Tennessee; five sisters, Nellie Casteel of Harrisburg, Melinda Clevenger of McLeansboro, Mollie Henderson of Harrisburg, Alberta Milligan of Alton, Josephine Smith of McLeansboro; and 14 grandchildren.

Charles Andrew Hammond
Charles Andrew Hammond of Plainwell, Mich., was a man who knew the value of hard work. He was born on August 14, 1919, in Equality, to Charles and Katherine (Bayers) Hammond. The neighboring town of Eldorado was where Charles grew up and attended high school. After high school he joined the army and was a tank commander in WWII. He received the Purple Heart after leading troops on front line as they entered Germany. After returning from the service, Charles started Chuck's Purple Heart Taxi Service in the Chicago area. In 1944 he met a young nurse named Lilian Cummings, while working at a local hospital. They were married on Dec. 3, 1949. They supported each other through many years of hard work, raising their family, and making many moves to different cities, including Plainwell in 1954. Charles held many jobs including work as an orderly at several hospitals, as a machine tender at KVP paper mill, as a security guard at Borg-Warner, and at Angie Steel. He was well known for his most recent business as owner and salesman at a used furniture sales in Oshtemo and Plainwell.
Charles loved watching old television shows including Jackie Gleason, Bob Hope specials, Jack Benny, Red Skelton and Gunsmoke. The family enjoyed taking trips to Eldorado each year to visit their extended family. Charles' family includes his children: Pauline and Henry Keiser of Kalamazoo, Mich., Lorraine and Don Wycoff of Burnipa, Mich., Gary Hammond of Plainwell, Mich., Terry Hammond of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Charles and Marilyn Hammond of Illinois; siblings: Doyle, Lawrence and James of Illinois and Doris and Edith of California; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Charles died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, in Plainwell. He was preceded in death by his wife Lilian "Pat," brothers Lonnie and Elmer, and granddaughter Melissa. Friends may visit with the family 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the Rupert, Durham, Marshall, & Gren Funeral Home, Plainwell Chapel, where the Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002. William P. 'Roadrunner" Leger
William P. "Roadrunner" Leger, 76, of 1537 Maureen Drive, Marion, died 2 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Deon Dutton officiating. Burial will be in Highland cemetery in South Fort Mitchell, Ky. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the funeral home.
He is survived by a son, a daughter, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

David V. Miller
David V. Miller, 45, of McLeansboro, died 6:05 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at the funeral home.
He is survived by his companion, her three children, and a friend.

Delaney Jordan Norline Mayberry
Delaney Jordan Norline Mayberry, 7 months old, of Ridgway, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2002, as the result of an accident.
She was born in Fairfield on Dec. 3, 2001, to Scott and Christy (Jackson) Mayberry of Ridgway.
She is survived by her parents and three brothers, Derek, Tyler and Joe Mayberry; grandparents Lola and Ray Couser of Ridgway, Wesley Jackson of Uniontown, Ky., Mary Mayberry of Equality and Larry Mayberry of Harrisburg; great-grandparents Sam and Lucy Hosman of Grayville and great-stepgrandmother Alice Couser of Ridgway; aunts Lora Sauls, Betty Frazier and Tonya Josette Nowakowski and uncles Wes Jackson and James Williams.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Good Hope cemetery south of Karbers Ridge. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.

Harlen E. Harris
Harlen E. Harris, 66, of rural Route Brookport, the New Liberty community, died 1:34 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Hastings cemetery with Encil Edmonds and the Rev. Tony Wayne Harris officiating. Visitation is noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda.
He is survived by his wife, Rue Vena Adams; two sons; four daughters; one stepson; a brother; two sisters; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John William Bowers
John William Bowers, 63, of 1545 Old Town Road, Stonefort, died 10:48 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Farr officiating.
Burial will be in Joyner cemetery in Stonefort. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Norris City to Mr. and Mrs. John Bowers. On May 3, 1980, he married the former Christine Bethel, who survives.
He worked as a truck driver and was a member of Old Stonefort Seventh-Day Baptist Church, where he was a church deacon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Jeff Gunning of Eldorado, John Gunning, Raymond Gunning and Roger Gunning, all of Harrisburg; three daughters, Deborah Hollerson of Stonefort, Theresa Moore of Carrier Mills and Dianne Quick of Newburgh, Ind.; a brother, Jimmy Bowers of Centralia; three sisters, Zella Jean Bowers of Norris City, Mavis Duckworth of Benton and Dean Peas of Alaska; 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

James Edward 'Garbo' Williams
James Edward "Garbo" Williams, 82, of 904 S. McKinley St., Harrisburg, died 4:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at his residence.
Services were held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home with Father Arnold Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Brushy cemetery in Harco. Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
He was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Harrisburg to Edward and Katherine (Carrigan) Williams. On Nov. 13, 1948, he married the former Ora D. Baker, who survives.
He was a coal miner and manager of 42 years with Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Harrisburg, the Galatia Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, the Shrine and the Elks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James R. (Jane) Williams and Edward A. (Debi) Williams, all of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Julie Williams, Joseph Williams, Katie Williams and Lindsey Williams; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Williams.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Building Fund.

Larry Lee Reed
Larry Lee Reed, 63, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Harrisburg, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne.
He was born in Harrisburg on Dec. 15, 1938, to the late Lawrence and Audrey Reed. He was the former owner of Reed Skate Palace in Harrisburg.
Larry was the husband of Judy (Josey) Reed, who survives in Melbourne. Other surviving family members include a son, Chris (Trudy) Reed of Harrisburg; a daughter, Beth (James) Riley of Melbourne; two stepsons, Jeff and Eric Pankey; a sister, Jane Perkins of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Justin, Steven and Laura Riley and Jeremy and Joshua Reed; and stepgrandchildren, Cain, Dena, Jensen and Griffith Pankey.
Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday at Palm Bay Funeral Home in Palm Bay, Fla.
Funeral and burial on Wednesday also in Florida.
Arrangements in the charge of Palm Bay Funeral Home, 950 Malabar Road, S.E. Palm Bay, Fla. 32907.
Local arrangements are in the charge of Reed Funeral Chapel, Inc.

Martha Marie Donnell
Martha Marie Donnell, 83, of 4550 Parker City Road, Creal Springs, died 5:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Marion Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Edd Sterchi officiating.
Burial will be in New Burnside cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
She was born in Evansville, Ind., on Jan. 8, 1919, to the late Henry and John Frances (Blunk) Groves. In 1937, she married Jessie Paul Donnell, who preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a retired mail carrier and a member of the Harrisburg Church of Christ.
She is survived by a son, Paul Eugene Donnell of Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, John Groves of Creal Springs; a sister, Glaydis Greene of Creal Springs; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Phillip Donnell; two brothers, Glenn and Henry Groves and a sister, Garold Fowler.

Josephine Faulkner
Josephine Faulkner, 75, of rural Route 1, Box 158, Simpson, died 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville with Chaplain Clifton S. Perry of the U.S. Air Force officiating. Burial will be in Boulden cemetery. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Lowell Faulkner, two daughters, two brothers, four sisters, three grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
