Ernest E. Bowles Jr.
Ernest E. Bowles Jr., 35, of 311 Front St., New Haven, died 1:15 a.m. Sunday, July 14, 2002, at New Haven.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at New Haven Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Julia Hazzard officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge cemetery near New Haven. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at the church. Vickery Funeral Chapel in New Haven is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Nov. 6, 1966, in Carmi, to Ernest E. and the late Evelyn (Hill) Bowles Sr. He married
the former Christina H. Janovich, who survives.
He was an Army veteran, a member of Ridgway Masonic Lodge No. 816, New Haven American Legion Post No. 1141, and New Haven Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by four children, Andrew, Amanda, Nickolas, and Allexus, all of New Haven; three sisters, Jeanetta (Bob) Brazier of Shawneetown, Cynthia (Ancel) Logsdon of Norris City and Loretta Forehand of Orlando, Fla.; eight nephews and two nieces.
Walter C. 'Bud' Lowery
Walter C. "Bud" Lowery, 59, of Shawneetown, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado after a short illness.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown with the Rev. Buddy Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Hogan cemetery in Shawneetown. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born in Thompsonville on Dec. 13, 1942 to Marie (Smith) and the late Roy C. Lowery.
He was a truck driver and mechanic before losing his eyesight. He was sent to Michigan by the Lions club to get a seeing eye dog, which he was so proud of.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Contrina (Brian) Henry of Peoria; a stepdaughter, Norma Dunk; a stepson, John O'Neal; three sisters, Wynonia (Con Howard) Lowery of Shawneetown, Lela (Jim) Estes of Dekovian, Ky. and Alice (Charlie) Belt of Morganfield, Ky.; two brothers, Ralph (Diane) Lowery of Saline Landing and James (Susan) Lowery of Cave-in-Rock; a grandson, Brian Henry Jr. of Peoria and two special friends, Wayne Lampert and Cheryl Randall.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Kenneth Lowery.
Harry L. Siebman
Harry L. Siebman, 92, of Ridgway, died Friday, July 12, 2002, in Fairbury where he and his wife had been residing in Fairview Haven close to their daughter.
Harry was born Jan. 26, 1910, in Ridgway to the late Walter and Reta Mae (Seten) Siebman. On Feb. 3, 1934, in Wood River, Harry was married
to Estella M. (Schmitt) who survives. Harry worked in the ammunitions plant during WWII and retired from Phillips Petroleum in their Electrical Maintenance Department. He had also farmed their family property before retiring. He had been very active in the community and especially his church, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway. He was a Knight of Columbus member of the L.A. Lambert Council No. 1581 in Ridgway.
He is survived by his wife, Estella (Schmitt) Siebman of Ridgway; a daughter, Anita (John) Zimbrick of W. Lafayette, Ind.; a son, Jack Siebman of Monterey, Calif.; three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and one sister.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.
A prayer service will be held that night at 7 p.m. followed by a service from the Knights of Columbus.
The funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway. Interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Cox & Son Funeral Homes -- Ridgway Chapel.
Mary Lena Goldman
Mary Lena Goldman, 93, of 2009 Old Broughton Road, Eldorado, died 5:35 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at Harrisburg Care Center.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Curt Yarbrough officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born April 20, 1909, in Ridgway to James Henry and Louvina (Maloney) Lamb. On Sept. 30, 1926, she married
Russell Goldman, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1998.
She was a member of Pleasant Valley Star General Baptist Church in Eldorado.
She is survived by a son, Mr. and Mrs. Norman L. (JoAnn) Goldman of Bloomington; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Goldman of Eldorado; a brother, Dale (Margaret) Lamb of West Frankfort; four grandchildren, Diane (Corey) Henson of Raleigh, Kim Goldman of Eldorado, Lee Ann (Michael) Sewell of Woodland, Texas and Richard N. (Dawn) Goldman of Normal and seven great-grandchildren, Allison Mitchell, Emily Henson, Hannah Henson, Kristin Lee Sewell, Ross Sewell, Matthew Goldman and Kyle Goldman.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Goldman, on Feb. 15, 1998; one bother; three sisters and a granddaughter, Erin Elizabeth.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Star Church building fund.
Helen R. Brooks
Helen R. Brooks, 83, of Alton, formerly of Harrisburg, died 7:04 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Gent Funeral Home, 2409 State St., Alton, with the Rev. David Olson and the Rev. Jeffrey Heil officiating. Burial will be in Upper Alton cemetery. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born July 24, 1918, in Harrisburg to the late Benjamin and Marie (Hyden) Bryant.
She worked for the state of Illinois until her retirement in 1983. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid bridge player. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda K. (Harry) Nevlin of Godfrey; a son, Jerome D. (Patricia) Naugle of Queensland, Australia; a brother, Robert (Marian) Bryant of Harrisburg; a daughter-in-law, June Naugle of Holiday Shores; five grandchildren, Sheri (Rocco) Ameduri of Holiday Shores, Clayton (Sheryl) Naugle of Moro, Laura (Patrick) Shansey of Godfrey, the Rev. Jeffrey (Jean) Heil of South Sioux City, Neb. and Kylie Naugle of Queensland, Australia; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Naugle and two husbands, Gerald E. Naugle and Roy Brooks.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the 12th Street Presbyterian Church in Alton.
John David Ford
John David Ford, 48, of Vienna, passed away unexpectedly at 8:26 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
He was born July 8, 1953, in LaHarpe. He was the son of Albert Ford and Mildred (Pendry) Ford.
John was united in marriage to Nancy (Loy) on August 17, 1974 in Clifton. She survives.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his parents, Albert and Mildred Ford of Stronghurst; a brother, Thomas Ford of Stronghurst; a sister, Patricia Wood of Edwardsville and nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by a brother, Lanny Ford, and a sister, Mary Catherine Ford.
John received a master's degree from Southern Illinois University. He was employed as a part-time crop insurance salesman for Heartland Crop Insurance in Harrisburg.
John was a lifetime member of the Appaloosa Horse Club and enjoyed spending time with his horses. He enjoyed the outdoors and was accomplished in leather work. John was a member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge No. 150 A.F. and A.M. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Carman.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The Rev. Tim Blankenship will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal cemetery.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday under the auspices of Vienna Masonic Lodge No. 150 A.F. and A.M.

Millard Fillmore Comer
Millard Fillmore Comer, 82, of Harrisburg, died 1:55 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 14, 1919 in Cairo to Lloyd and Dora Belle (Sullivan) Comer. On Oct. 19, 1956, he married
the former Barbara Josey, who survives.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Harrisburg. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam with the Merchant Marines.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jane (Jim) Rodgers of Harrisburg; a brother, Paul Comer of Warrick, R.I.; a sister-in-law, Frances Comer of Wyoming, R.I.; two sisters, Nokomis Coulter of Vero Beach, Fla. and Annie MacAnally of Cahokia and two grandchildren, Eli and Hannah Rodgers, both of Harrisburg.
Mary E. Gregg
Mary E. Gregg, 77, of 607 N. Mill St., Carrier Mills, died 7:53 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating. Burial will be in Salem cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 26, 1925 in Carrier Mills to the late Roy and Nellie (Rude) Pyle. On June 21, 1952, she married
C. Harold Gregg, who survives.
She was a retired waitress.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Gary Staser of Kickapoo, and a granddaughter and her husband, Tiffany and Joe Schafer of Peoria.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Loren, Hubert, Frank, John and Frank Pyle and a stepbrother, Merrill Briggs.
