Bob L. Adkisson
Bob L. Adkisson, 72, of 740 Ward Road, Galatia, passed away 10:48 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky. He was born Aug. 13, 1930 in Williamson County to Blanche (Sprague) and John "Cap" Adkisson Jr.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Ebenezer cemetery in rural Galatia with the Rev. John Howat officiating.
Bob was a life-long farmer in his community and cabinet maker. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Galatia. He served his country in the United States Army. He married
the former Jean Heflin on Sept. 15, 1961 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Galatia.
Bob is survived by his wife Jean (Heflin) Adkisson; one daughter and son-in-law, Bobby and Twyla Peak of Galatia; one special granddaughter, JeanLu Peak; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Richard Stevens of Galatia and his brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Betty Adkisson of Harrisburg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Mary Elizabeth Vaughn
Mary Elizabeth (Brookbank) Vaughn, 80, of 1228 W. Largent St., Harrisburg, died 11:07 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Burial will be in Sunset Garden cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 1, 1922 in Harrisburg to the late Joseph Arthur and Suzanna (Day) Brookbank. On March 10, 1946, she married
Harry Lee Vaughn, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1993.
She was a homemaker and a member of Gaskins City Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She was a member of the Heartland Lioness Club, American Legion Auxiliary, past member of Eagles Auxiliary and was an avid bingo player.
She is survived by a son, Michael (Diana Lea) Vaughn of Simpson; two daughters, Marcha (Jim) Smith of Chatham and Cathy (Steven) Gilbert of Harrisburg; a son, William A. (Vickie) Vaughn of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren, Rodney, Angela, Jamie, Bridget, Steven P., Casey, Daydra, Cory and Colton; and nine great-grandchildren, Clarice, Haley, Shelbey, Melanie, Ashley and Justin.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson and a sister, Josephine Wilson.
Naomi Stilley
Naomi Stilley, 87, formerly of 315 W. Church St., Harrisburg, died 1:38 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Stilley.
Alice D. Navin
Alice D. (Vinyard) Navin, 72, of Marengo, formerly of Saline County, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at St. Patrick's Church in St. Charles. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Geneva Township. Visitation is 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at the Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles with a Moose service at 7 p.m. an a liturgical wake service at 7:30 p.m.
She was the widow of Charles W. Navin. She is survived by one son, three daughters, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one sister and one brother.
Barbara Lissak
Barbara Lissak, 87, of 701 Madison St., Eldorado, died 2:53 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Walter Baker officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery. Visitation is 2 p.m. to service time Wednesday.
She was born Jan. 25, 1915, in Eldorado to Jess and Bertha (Blankenship) Anderson. On Nov. 1, 1931, she married
Gene Lissak, who preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1989.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Eldorado Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two sons, Edward and George Lissak; four grandchildren, Heith and Kyle Lissak, Belinda Lissak and Kimberly Westbrook; and one great-grandchild, Tiffany Westbrook.
Mary E. Gregg
Mary E. Gregg, 77, of 607 N. Mill St., Carrier Mills, died 7:53 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating. Burial will be in Salem cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Carrier Mills to the late Roy and Nellie (Rude) Pyle. On June 21, 1952, she married
C. Harold Gregg, who survives.
She was a retired waitress.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Gary Staser of Kickapoo, and a granddaughter and her husband, Tiffany and Joe Schafer of Peoria.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Loren, Hubert, Joe, Frank, John and Clifford Pyle; and a stepbrother, Merrill Briggs.
Leland E. Ashby Jr.
Leland E. Ashby Jr., rural Route 2, Golconda, formerly of Eldorado, died 1:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at Camp Butler cemetery, Springfield, with the Rev. David Heyen officiating. Burial is in the Butler National cemetery. There will be no visitation. Aly Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Feb. 17, 1924 in Eldorado to Leland E. Ashby Sr. and Cecil (Cole) Ashby. He married
Joyce White on Aug. 10, 1944. She survives.
He graduated Eldorado High School in 1942 and received a B.S. degree in Education from Southern Illinois University. He also received a B.S. in Agriculture and a Master's degree from the University of Illinois. He also attended the Air War College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
He taught agriculture at Bunker Hill High School and Gillespie High School. He served in the United States Air Force 34 years, including service in World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a pilot during the Korean conflict and flew B-50 bombers while stationed on Guam, retiring from the Air Force with the rank of Colonel.
He was a member of the Presbyterian faith since 1964 and a member of Lodge No. 131 AF&AM;, Golconda.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mildred Smith of Eldorado.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Ashby; a grandson, Chad Ashby; and a sister, Dorothy Hall.
Betty J. Gunter
Betty J. Gunter, 71, of rural Route 1, Broughton, died 10:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at her residence.
Graveside services will precede burial at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Mt. Oval cemetery at Norris City with the Rev. Randall Ragan officiating. Visitation is 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Naomi Christina Stilley, 87, a resident of Oakview Nursing Home in Mt. Carmel, formerly of 315 W. Church St., Harrisburg, died 1:38 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.

Ralph Harner, who preceded her in death in 1975. On Feb. 18, 1984, she married
Ralph Stilley, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of New Castle Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Dewan (Linda) Harner of Harrisburg; two stepdaughters, Barbara (Noble) Abendroth of Slaughters, Ky. and Bonnie (Wayne) Schilt of West Salem; a stepson, Lendon (Louise) Stilley of Demotte, Ind.; a grandson, Danny Harner of Harrisburg; several stepgrandchildren; several great-stepgrandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the New Castle Baptist Church.
James E. Dooley
James E. Dooley, 71, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Willow Nursing Home in Eldorado.
He was born June 22, 1931, to the late Howard and Only Marie (Todd) Dooley.
He was a veteran of the Korean War with two Bronze Stars.
He was a devoted husband to DeWanda Sue (Seagraves) Dooley; a caring stepfather to Virgil Hammersley of Dixon, Debi (Bill) Sell of Elgin and Vicki Dale of Harrisburg. A grandfather to Allisha McCuan of Harrisburg, Jami Dale of Centralia, Amanda Arson of North Carolina, Jackie Dale of Eldorado, Samantha and Cassidy Sell of Elgin, Paulie Hammersley of Indiana and Estonia Saink of Alabama. A father to James Dooley Jr. of Alabama.
A caring brother to Phylis Lasseter of Ridgway, Lorene Watson, Irene Hayes and Waldo Dooley of Eldorado, Leroy of Elcove, Nev. and Earl Wayne of Columbia, Tenn. A brother-in-law to Louise (Charles) Gwaltney of Carmi, Charles (Juanita) Seagraves of Harrisburg and Clarence (Pat) Seagraves of Brookport.
Several nieces and nephews, Bob and Mona (Willis) Roberts of Ridgway, Larry Willis of Carbondale, Kathy, Steve, Kevin, Terri, Terri Lynn, Frankie and Sissy.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Kilmer.
Visitation will be held noon to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Wolf Creek cemetery.
