Dr. Irvin Boyer
Dr. Irvin Boyer, 88, of 1551 Benton St., Eldorado, died 3:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldorado with Father Don Abell officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 18, 1913 in Omaha to Alvin and Lily (Underwood) Boyer. In 1945, he married
Anna Marie Boyer, and she preceded him in death in 1985. On May 22, 2002, he married
Alice Barrett Boyer, who survives.
He was a retired optometrist, a veteran of WWII and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldorado.
In addition to his second wife, he is survived by two sons, Gene L. Boyer of Denver, Colo. and two grandchildren, Alannna Marie Boyer and Eric Lowell Boyer, both of Denver.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Boyer, and a brother, C.E. Reeder.
Charles W. 'Doc' Hicks
Charles W. "Doc" Hicks, 70, of rural Herod, died 7:46 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare with the Rev. Harold Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Lavender cemetery in rural Herod. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was a member of Herod Springs Baptist Church in Herod, an auctioneer for many years, sheriff of Pope County for 12 years and a 32nd degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Matheny Hicks; two daughters, Christine (Tim) Wagner of Golconda, Terry (Mike) Kilehorn of rural Herod; a sister, Marie (Don) Kendrick of Golconda and three grandchildren, Julie (John) Haner of Simpson, Erin (Larry) Degraves of Junction and Doyle Wagner of Golconda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Opal (Stone) Hicks, a brother, Wayne Hicks and a sister, Merwin McClure.
Faye A. Watts
Faye A. Watts, 67, of Kenosha, Wis., formerly of New Haven, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in New Haven with the Rev. Sonny Holtzclaw officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge cemetery in New Haven. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at the funeral home.
She is survived by four sons, a daughter, a brother, eight grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-stepgrandchildren.
Lola Berniece Frailey
Lola Berniece Frailey, 88, of Cave-in-Rock, died 12:37 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock. Burial will be in Cave Hill cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at the funeral home.
Benny G. Hudnell
Benny G. Hudnell, 66, of 1103 S. Main St., Harrisburg, died 3:42 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Widicus officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley cemetery with military rites by Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legions. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 25, 1936 in Harrisburg to the late Troyce Hudnell and Lillian (Gidcumb) Ginger, who survives. On Dec. 3, 1955, he married
the former Belva Butcher, who survives.
He was a retired machinery tech for the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the VFW in Interlachen, Fla.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Lillian Ginger of Harrisburg; two daughters, Dawn Hudnell of New Port, Ore. and Loraine (Richard) Hotoke of Hawaii; a son, Troyce (Heather) Hudnell of Key West, Fla. and five grandchildren.
Thomas M. Zimmer
Thomas M. Zimmer, 83, of Hobart, Ind., formerly of Mountain Township in Saline County, passed away Friday, July 26, 2002.
He was born Aug. 2, 1918, to Matthew and Mary Zimmer in Mountain Township of Saline County. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1937 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Dec. 7, 1941 bombing. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1945.
He was a supervisor for Vidimos Heating Inc. and a member of Sheet Metal Local No. 20, formerly Local No. 303.
He married
Dorothy Anderson in 1948, and she preceded him in death in 1962. To this union was born five boys, Thomas Dale Zimmer of Portage, Ind., James (Leticia) Zimmer of Hobart, Ind., Martin (Beverly) Zimmer of Huntsville, Ala. Keith (Donna) Zimmer of Peru, Ind., who all survive, and Gary Wayne Zimmer, who preceded Thomas in death in 1997. He married
Dorothy Phillips in 1974 and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, and four sons, he is survived by a stepson, Jerry (Leanne) Phillips of Merrillville, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Nancy Rouhselang of Hobart, Ind., and Karen Solomey of Merrillville, Ind.; three sisters, Mary Silver of Evansville, Ind., Margaret Hatcher of Harrisburg and Julia Carnett of Highland, Ind.; grandchildren Jennifer (Jay) Ditzer, Stephanie, Andrew, Mason and Cody Zimmer, Tracey Dwiggans, Jerry (Nancy) Phillips, Wendy (Chuck) Reeder, Ted Phillips, Heather Rouhselang, Dennis (Kimberly) Hazi, Jason, Kara and Nicholas Hazi; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and also his pet dog "Peanuts".
In addition to his first wife, and his son Gary, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Zimmer, and three sisters, Dorothy Williams, Agnes Beverage, and Sally Grable.
Funeral services took place in Merrillville, Ind. Monday, July 29, 2002, at Redina Funeral Home and Our Lady of Consolation Church with the Rev. Joseph Vamos officiating. Burial was in Calumet Park cemetery in Merrillville, Ind.

Clyde Pittman, 84, of Galatia, died 12:48 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Nina Lee Joyner
Nina Lee Joyner, 83, of Santa Maria, Calif., formerly of Harrisburg, died 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Santa Maria.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born May 1, 1919, in Harrisburg to George and Clara (Sullivan) Cole. On March 7, 1946, she married
Michael Otto Joyner, who preceded her in death on April 29, 1994.
She was Baptist by faith and a homemaker.
She is survived by four sons, Earl Dewayne Joyner of Santa Maria, Calif., Darrell Ray Joyner of Salt Lake City, Utah, James Wesley Spirling of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and Thomas Lee Spirling of Santa Maria, Calif.; two daughters, Martha Louise Field of Missouri and Mary Jean Kloss of Lady Lake, Fla.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda Novetta Stout of Harrisburg.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael O. Joyner Jr.; two brothers, Robert Vernon Cole and Charles Thomas Cole; and four sisters, Alberta Russell, Georgia Mae Brinkley, Glenda Rae Wood and Charlene Webb.

Josephine "Jo" C. Herderhorst, 90, of McLeansboro, formerly of Cahokia, died 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Severin Nursing Home in Benton.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Gary Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove cemetery near McLeansboro. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
She is survived by two sons, four daughters, three sisters, several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
