Carl Dennis Griffith
Carl Dennis Griffith, 47, of rural Herod, died 2:10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.
He was born Jan. 30, 1953, in Harrisburg, to Dwight E. "Cicero Kid" Griffith and Edwarda (Phillips) Griffith. He married
Tina Iwasko on Feb. 14, 1975. She survives.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Joe Poirot officiating.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home. Burial is in Sunset Garden Cemetey in Harrisburg.
Mr. Griffith was a pro bass fisherman and the owner and operator of D&G; Outfitters River to River Trail Lodge. He was a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Griffith of Herod; one daughter, Angelique Griffith of Herod; one brother, Eugene Griffith of Harrisburg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clarice Joy Ewell
Clarice Joy Ewell, 68, of 927 S. Main St., Harrisburg, died at 2:22 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.
She was born May 12, 1932, in Hardin County, to Lloyd and Katie (Hufford) Boulden. She married
Harrel G. Ewell on May 20, 1954. He survives.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Mike Davis and the Rev. David Swain officiating. Visitation is from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home. Burial is in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg.
Mrs. Ewell was a retired grocer from Ewell's Market. She was a member of Harrisburg First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Harrel G. Ewell of Harrisburg; two sons, Glen Ewell and Van Ewell, both of Harrisburg; one grandson, Austin Ewell of Harrisburg; three brothers, Albert Boulden and wife, Mary of Cleburne, Texas, Harold Boulden and wife, Jean of Las Vegas, and Calvin Boulden and wife, Sharon of Oracle, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Zella and husband, David Jordan of Metropolis; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church or the Shriners Childrens Hospital.

Arthur J. Hinant, 66, of 316 W. Church St., Harrisburg, died 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center. He was born April 5, 1934, in Harrisburg, to Arthur J. Hinant Sr. and Mary (White) Hinant. He married

Payne Michael Williams
Payne Michael Williams was stillborn Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was the son of Ricky and Julie Williams of Rosiclare.

James Clarkson Jr., 80, of McLeansboro, died 10:25 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
Visitation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Valahalla cemetery in Belleville.
Mr. Clarkson is survived by his wife, Adeline Clarkson; one son; one daughter; one sister; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Rhonda Hicks
Rhonda Hicks, 60, of 4126 Brandy Lane, Salem, Ill. 62881, died Friday morning, Feb. 2, 2001, at her home after a long illness. She was the wife of Melvin Hicks who was born and raised in Harrisburg and the daughter-in-law of the late Granville (Jeff) and Gladys Abney Hicks of Harrisburg.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Debbie Stokes of Springfield, Curt Hicks of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Judy (PeeWee) Horning of Harrisburg; Venita Tanner of Harrisburg; Phyllis (Charles) Gray of Sanford, N.C.; and several brothers and sisters of Canada, where Rhonda was born.
Arrangements are pending at the Rankin Funeral Home of 310 N. Broadway, Salem.
William 'Bill' Clardy
William "Bill" Clardy, 69, of Eddyville, died 9:13 a.m. Feb. 1, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of Evansville, Ind.
He was born August 18, 1931, in Jonesboro to William Franklin and Cora Jane (Ralls) Clardy. He married
Elvira Naccaroto Clardy. She preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 1989.
Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at the funeral home. The Rev. John Bailey will officiate. Burial is in Cedar Grove cemetery in Eddyville. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Cedar Grove Church.
Mr. Clardy was employed a maintenance laborer for Millstone Water District in Eddyville. He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by three sons, Steve (Wendy) Clardy of Delavan, Wis.; William "Bill" (Shelly) Clardy of Pontiac, Larry Clardy of Pontiac; a sister, Emma Boetcher of Edwardsburg, Mich.; and one grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Herman Lee Clardy.
Jerry Cletus Hafford
Jerry Cletus Hafford, 61, of 406 Boyd St., Eldorado, died 9:45 a.m. Feb. 1, 2001, in Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born June 15, 1939, in Eldorado to the late Glen and Bertha (Partin) Hafford. He married
the former Lovella June Hutchison. She preceded him in death.
Graveside service is 11 a.m. at Wolf Creek cemetery in Eldorado. The Rev. Russell Helton will officiate. There will be no visitation.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles.
He is survived by two daughters, Judi McKinnon of Decatur, Texas, Jerri Vinyard of Marion; two brothers, Frankie Hafford of Louisiana, Charles Rose of Missouri; three sisters, Velma Bradley of Eldorado, Aileen Doerr of Eldorado, Ruth Ann Williams of Texas; three grandchildren, Jermey Hafford of Texas, Jennifer Mason of Marion, Misty Mason of Marion; two great-grandchildren, Madison Elise Betts of Marion and Austin Ray Hafford of Texas.
Helen Travelstead Moss
Helen Travelstead Moss, 88, of Harrisburg, died 5 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, at her home.
She was born Nov. 2, 1912, in Carrier Mills, the first child of Will F. and Anna Puckett Davis. She married
Loren Travelstead in 1933. She married
William P. Moss in 1958. He preceded her in death.
Helen was a homemaker and worked for many years as a nurse's aid at Country Club Manor.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Service is 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Pete Reed will officiate. Burial is in Lindale cemetery in Eldorado. The family requests memorials to be made to VNA Hospice.
She is survived by a son, Will (Judy) Travelstead of Cobden; two daughters, Betty Morris of Harrisburg, Donna (Frank) Wilson of Mayville, Mich.; a brother, Bob (Gaynelle) Davis of Harrisburg; two sisters, Maxine Davis of Harrisburg, Clara Ruth (Arthur) Ammon of Carrier Mills; 12 grandchildren, Babette (Bob) Cook of Galatia, David (Shannon) Morris of Harrisburg, Jim Wilson, Steve (Ruth) Wilson, Gary Wilson, Helen (David) Rojas, all of Michigan, Bob Wilson of Iowa, Bob (Song) Moss of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Jeanette (John) Talamo of Westerville, Ohio, Kevin Travelstead of Kansas City, Brian Travelstead and Lucinda Broeker, both of St. Louis, Mo.; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Bill Moss, and an infant sister, Laverne Davis.
Norma Jean Logan
Norma Jean Logan, 72, of Broughton, died 8:45 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Eugene and Ruth (Small) Reynolds. She married
George Logan July 5, 1947, in Galatia. He survives.
Norma was employed as a seamstress for Elders Shirt Factory in McLeansboro from 1956 to 1977. She attended New Salem Church.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Service is 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the funeral home. The Rev. Randall Ragan will officiate. Burial is in Hebron cemetery in Broughton.
In addition to her husband, George Logan of Broughton, she is survived by two sons, George Jr. and Darrell, both of Broughton; a brother, Hal Reynolds of Harco; a sister, Lois Dahl of Harco; and a granddaughter, Alisha Logan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, George Alan Logan.

Billie Derringer, of Chester, formerly of Cave-In-Rock, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.

Mary L. Stricklin
Mary L. Stricklin, 93, Mich., died 2 a.m. Sunday, May 13, 2001, Mother's Day, at Riverbend Nursing Home, Grand Blanc, Mich. She was born June 8, 1907. Mary was the widow of I.B. Stricklin.
Graveside services were held at Novi Memorial Gardens, Mich.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Carolyn "Candy" Hansen; three grandchildren, Brent, Stacy, and Jason McDole; and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; and son, Charles Gaskins.
