Henry M. Criner
Henry M. Criner, 83, born June 3, 1919, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Heritage Manor of Litchfield in Litchfield.
He married
Alvena Harvey on March 12, 1940 and she died Sept. 6, 1992.
He is survived by eight children, Mary Ann Haslett of Morrisonville, Charles Criner of Salem, Jean Criner of Harrisburg, Sue Clark of Divernon, Mrs. Don (Karen) Neideffer of Decatur, the Rev. Richard Criner of Centralia, Mrs. Dave (Debbie) Mallady of Harrisburg and John Criner of Effingham; 22 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Moffitt Funeral Home in Morrisonville. Burial will be in Morrisonville cemetery. Visitation is 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Clyde 'Shorty' Buren Pittman
Clyde "Shorty" Buren Pittman, 84, of Galatia, died 12:48 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Galatia.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with Keith Deal officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born March 8, 1918 in Hamilton County to the late Conrad and Edith (Pittman) Pittman. On May 15, 1957, he married
the former Derilda Spainhoward in Gallatin County, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1989.
He was a WWII Navy veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church of Galatia and a retired mechanic for Charlie Towns Chevy and the Miniver Mine in Cave-in-Rock.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy (Glenn) Kellen of Harrisburg; two sons, Kenny (Holly) Pittman of Valparaiso, Ind. and Rick (Pam) Pittman of Galatia; three brothers, Shelby Pittman of Robards, Ky., Jim Pittman of Galatia and Philip Pittman of Eldorado; three grandchildren, Eric Pittman of Valparaiso, Ind. and Christy and Brian Pittman of Galatia.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Dickie Pittman, and a daughter, Ellen Lee Kellen.
Marvelle Sutton
Marvelle Sutton, 76, of 1411 McHaney Road, Harrisburg, died 9:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at her residence. .Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg.
She was born July 5, 1926 in Harrisburg to the late Joseph and Hettie (Sherfield) Dudley. She married
Lavern Sutton in March 1945. He survives.
She was a retired cook at Harrisburg High School and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and David Head of Shawneetown; a sister, Molly Anglin, Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, George and Jim Dudley, Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Sarah and Bryan Head, Shawneetown.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
Glenn Ivan Dillon Jr.
Glenn Ivan Dillon Jr., 83, Galatia, died 6:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 at Sloan Funeral Home, Galatia. The Rev. Jerry Williams will officiate. Burial is in Lebanon cemetery, Galatia. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002 at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 29, 1918 in Coffeyville, Kan., son of Glenn I. and Eula (Teter) Dillon. He married
Mary Ellen Manker Jan. 23, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives.
He was retired from Echlin Co. as personnel director. He also was an accomplished guitarist, who played in the big band era, played locally and gave guitar lessons. He was an Army veteran and a member of Lebanon C.P.C.
He is survived by one son, Glenn (Linda) Dillon III, Galatia; two stepsons, Joe and Jeff Howton, both of Castaic, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Penrod, Eldorado; two sisters, Judy Mallard, Galatia, and Juanita Lake, Oregon; four grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Benny G. Hudnell
Benny G. Hudnell, 66, of 1103 S. Main St., Harrisburg, died 3:42 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Widicus officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley cemetery with military rites by Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legions. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 25, 1936 in Harrisburg to the late Troyce Hudnell and Lillian (Gidcumb) Ginger, who survives. On Dec. 3, 1955, he married
the former Belva Butcher, who survives.
He was a retired machinery tech for the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the VFW in Interlachen, Fla.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Lillian Ginger of Harrisburg; two daughters, Dawn Hudnell of New Port, Ore. and Loraine (Richard) Hotoke of Hawaii; a son, Troyce (Heather) Hudnell of Key West, Fla. and five grandchildren.
Thomas M. Zimmer
Thomas M. Zimmer, 83, of Hobart, Ind., formerly of Mountain Township in Saline County, passed away Friday, July 26, 2002.
He was born Aug. 2, 1918, to Matthew and Mary Zimmer in Mountain Township of Saline County. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1937 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Dec. 7, 1941 bombing. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1945.
He was a supervisor for Vidimos Heating Inc. and a member of Sheet Metal Local No. 20, formerly Local No. 303.
He married
Dorothy Anderson in 1948, and she preceded him in death in 1962. To this union was born five boys, Thomas Dale Zimmer of Portage, Ind., James (Leticia) Zimmer of Hobart, Ind., Martin (Beverly) Zimmer of Huntsville, Ala. Keith (Donna) Zimmer of Peru, Ind., who all survive, and Gary Wayne Zimmer, who preceded Thomas in death in 1997. He married
Dorothy Phillips in 1974 and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, and four sons, he is survived by a stepson, Jerry (Leanne) Phillips of Merrillville, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Nancy Rouhselang of Hobart, Ind., and Karen Solomey of Merrillville, Ind.; three sisters, Mary Silver of Evansville, Ind., Margaret Hatcher of Harrisburg and Julia Carnett of Highland, Ind.; grandchildren Jennifer (Jay) Ditzer, Stephanie, Andrew, Mason and Cody Zimmer, Tracey Dwiggans, Jerry (Nancy) Phillips, Wendy (Chuck) Reeder, Ted Phillips, Heather Rouhselang, Dennis (Kimberly) Hazi, Jason, Kara and Nicholas Hazi; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and also his pet dog "Peanuts".
In addition to his first wife, and his son Gary, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Zimmer, and three sisters, Dorothy Williams, Agnes Beverage, and Sally Grable.
Funeral services took place in Merrillville, Ind. Monday, July 29, 2002, at Redina Funeral Home and Our Lady of Consolation Church with the Rev. Joseph Vamos officiating. Burial was in Calumet Park cemetery in Merrillville, Ind.

Clyde Pittman, 84, of Galatia, died 12:48 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Ebert Parkinson
Ebert Parkinson, 91, of Harrisburg, died 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at the Saline Care Center Nursing Home.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 22, 1911 in Harrisburg to Charles and Ella (Fox) Parkinson. On Sept. 17, 1929, he married
Icalene Watson, who preceded him in death on May 5, 1997.
He was a a coal miner and a member of the Church of Nazarene.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Springs of Mt. Carmel; and a son, John Parkinson of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Charles Springs, Marilyn Shaffer, Shane Parkinson and Corey Parkinson and five great-grandchildren, Ryan Shaffer, Marissa Shaffer, Joey Springs, Alyssia Springs and Triston Parkinson.
Opal Thompson
Opal Thompson, 87, of McLeansboro, died 4:35 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation is 3 p.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
She was the widow of Carl Thompson. She is survived by three sons, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Ray Wilson
Ray Wilson, 73, of rural Omaha, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado after an extended illness.
Further family and funeral details will be announced later. Arrangements are in the charge of Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Wilson.
Ruth Ailene Edwards
Ruth Ailene Edwards, 85, of the Ebenezer community of Thompsonville, died 4:10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2002, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the nursing home.
She was born June 9, 1917, in Ina to the late Harrison and Janie (Carlisle) Schrum. She married
Truman Edwards, who preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2001.
She was a housewife and a member of Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Juli (Steve) Moore of Galatia, Liza Dunn of Carrier Mills, Shelli Rene Haggerty of Flint, Mich., David and Debbie Edwards of Waukegan; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, LeRoy and Doug Edwards, and a daughter, Janice Mitchell.
