Ann L. Smothers
Ann L. Smothers, 85, of Harrisburg, died 3:52 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at her residence.
Arrangements are pending at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin.

Henrietta C. Butler
Henrietta C. Butler, 80, of Sylmar, Calif., formerly of Galatia, died suddenly Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at her residence.
She is survived by three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Henry Milligan
Henry Milligan, of 1115 Kerr St., Eldorado, passed away 1:40 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, at his residence.
Henry is survived by his wife, Wanda, and one son, Bob and wife Ginny of Eldorado.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer Belcher, Jeff Milligan and wife Andrea, and Bridget Milligan. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Maisey Belcher and Nolan Milligan.
Henry was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
He was retired from Brushy Creek Coal Co.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home. The Rev. Art Watson, assisted by the Rev. Earl Vaughn, will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Valley cemetery in Rudement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Milligan; two sisters and four brothers. A niece, Vicki Maloney, also preceded him in death.
For those who desire, donations may be given to V.N.A. Hospice or the Vicki Maloney Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Edna Hamilton
Edna Hamilton, 97, a resident of Carrier Mills Nursing Home, died 5:20 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. George Ritter officiating. Burial will be in the Wise-Robinson cemetery near Ozark. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born in New Burnside on July 19, 1904, to the late Will and Lola (O'Neal) Choate. On Feb. 5, 1923, she married John Gay, who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1964. She later married Clifford Hamilton on August 14, 1973, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1992.
She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church and a member of the Carrier Mills Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by a sister, Verla Martin of Carrier Mills; two nieces, Judy (Dow) Kincheloe of Harrisburg and Naomi Bragadin of Southgate, Mich.; a greatniece, Ashli Harris of Buncombe and greatnephew, Brynn Kincheloe of Harrisburg.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Carter and Edith Parks Rushing.

Moses Orlando Suits
Moses Orlando Suits, 84, of Elizabethtown, died 6 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cave-in-Rock. Burial will be in Cave Hill cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock.

Leland Ray Wilson
Leland Ray Wilson, 73, longtime farmer of the Ridgway area, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, in Eldorado after an extended illness.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ridgway with Father Don Abell and the Rev. Bill Casey officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery in Ridgway. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus Chalice Service.
He was born on the family farm to the late Therin and Minnie (Rister) Wilson on Sept. 21, 1928. In August 1946, he married Elizabeth (Fromm) Wilson.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knight, past board member of the Asbury Twp. Ins. Co. and Farm Service Agency and member of the Neighborhood Watch in the Shadow Moss Community in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Wilson of Omaha; four sons, Denny (Brenda) Wilson of Ridgway, John (Linda) Wilson of Omaha, Bob Wilson of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Joe (Melissa) Wilson of Omaha; a brother, Robert (Doris) Wilson of Omaha; his stepmother, Reba Wilson of Evansville, Ind.; a half-sister, Myrtle (Don) Wheeler of Mount Vernon, Ind.; grandchildren Ryan and Jennifer Wilson, Brant and Jennifer Wilson, Keldon Wilson, Steven Wilson, Bradly Wilson, Bryan Wilson, Joseph and Amy Wilson, Misty and Gary Jester and Rachael and Andrew Brown and three great-grandchildren, Bain Wilson, Nattie Wilson and Alissa Jester.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice.

Naomi Ruth Shelton
Naomi Ruth Shelton, 84, of 1521 Trolley Road, Eldorado, died 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with Harold Whitlock officiating.
Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery outside Eldorado. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born April 25, 1918 in Eldorado to Ben and Mabel (Simpson) Newton. On Jan. 21, 1934, she married Clarence Shelton, who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1988.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Eldorado Church of God.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Nora) Karns, Mrs. Bill (Martha) Betz and Mrs. Joann Sisco, all of Eldorado; two sisters, Mimble Jean Weir of Eldorado and Barbara Butler of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Steve and Mitzi Hale of Pennsylvania, Sam and Melody Gould of Omaha, and Pam and Billy Karns, Mike Sisco, Donnie Lee Sisco and Larry Sisco, all of Eldorado; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Shelton; two brothers, Casper Newton and Ben Newton Jr. and two sisters, Helen Briddick Wells and Jenny Rose Newton.

Floyd R. Shewmake
Floyd R. Shewmake, 67, of Schaumburg, formerly of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Lexington Health Care in Schaumburg.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Sunset Lawn Cemtery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
He was born Nov. 20, 1934 in Harrisburg to Alonzo and Agusta Shewmake. He married the former Kathleen Talsma, who survives.
He served in the Army during the Berlin crisis and was a former employee of Nations Credit and Brunswick. He was an honored athlete in football, baseball and basketball at Harrisburg High School.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas Joseph (Maureen) Shewmake of Marengo; a daughter, Karin Lynn (Thomas) Lyon of Lake in the Hills; two grandchildren, T.J. and Jake Austin and five siblings, Alonzo "Stag", Bob, Neva, Carla and Donna.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Thomas, Norma, Glenn, James, Bennie, Betty and William.

Edna Gollihur
Edna Gollihur, 87, of McLeansboro, died 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Ron Trotter officiating.
Burial will be in the Oddfellows cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 7, 1914 in rural Saline County near Broughton to Thurman Jacob and Clara Devere (Elder) Gibson. On Nov. 13, 1932, she married Loran Charles Gollihur in Eldorado, who preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1967.
She was a retired nursing assistant at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McLeansboro, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, president of the hospital auxiliary and a member of Rebekah's Lodge of McLeansboro, serving as member of the Past Noble Grands.
She is survived by two daughters, Clara Nell Butler of Anna and Bonnie Sue (Alfred) Rubenacker of McLeansboro; a son, L.C. Gollihur of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mary (Fred) Moffett of Melvindale, Mich.; a brother, Stanley (Gladys) Gibson of California; eight grandchildren, Tracy and Lee Butler of Anna, Sue Ann Hileman of Jonesboro, Mary Jane Bennett of Cobden, Amy Forby of Fairview Heights, Jill Kern of Springfield, Cindy Billington of Dahlgren and Ashley Gollihur of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister and son-in-law, Clayton Butler.
Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home for the Hamilton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

John L. Sisky
John L. Sisky, 65, of 221 S. McKinley St., Harrisburg, died 9:57 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Granite City.
In accordance with his wishes, the body has been cremated. Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Pejakovich officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1936 in Harrisburg to Walter and Josephine (Cooley) Sisky.
He was a retired repairman for Coca-Cola.
He is survived by his former wife, Barbara Sisky; three daughters, Karen (Greg) Cowger of Carrier Mills, Janet (Ray) Crews of Granite City and Kim (Tony) Thompson of Harrisburg; two sons, Kevin Sisky of Lapeer, Mich. and John (Becky) Sisky of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Mary (Larry) Bowers of Harrisburg; a brother, Ray (Clara) Sisky of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren, Nicholas and Cody Cowger, Melissa and Hannah Thompson, Kevin Sisky, Richard and Crystal Cooper and Amber and Tiffany Tolley and four great-grandchildren, Kayle Cooper and McKenzie, Shelby and Alexis Headrick.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Frank Sisky and a half-brother, Walter Sisky.
