Mary Lou Nave
Mary Lou Nave, 74, of Longview, Texas, formerly of Eldorado, died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel, 1617 Judson Road, Longview, Texas, with Dr. Gary Orr, the Rev. Morris Johnson and her son-in-law, Steven Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Park cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born April 22, 1928, in Eldorado, the daughter of Lewis E. and Edith Barton of Eldorado, both deceased.
She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Longview and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Eldorado. She was a nine-year employee of Good Shepherd Medical Center and worked in the family business for five years. Mrs. Nave was a longtime homemaker and a perfect wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harold Nave of Longview, Texas; four children, Dr. Dennis (Laura) Nave of Shreveport, Dale (Barbara) Nave of Wimberly, Texas, Lou Vonne (Steven) Johnson of Caldwell, Texas and Evan Nave of Austin, Texas; a sister, Vivian B. Kotner of Springfield; fourgrandchildren, Nicholas Nave, Natalie Nave, Audrey Johnson and Isaac Johnson and primary caregiver and loving friend, Sheri Maurer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Rosenbaum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial contribution be made to the First Baptist Church of Eldorado music department.
Audie Henshaw
Audie Henshaw, 91, of 1001-A Jefferson St., Eldorado, died 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Duke officiating. Burial will be in Palestine cemetery in Stonefort. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1910 in Harrisburg to the late Tom and Stella (Jackson) Meler. She married
Louie Henshaw, who preceded her in death in November 1974.
She was a homemaker and a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church.
She is survived by a brother, Henry Meler of Harrisburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. and Virgil Meler.
Donald E. Capel
Donald E. Capel, 67, of Spring Lake, Mich., formerly of Carrier Mills, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Kim Capel officiating. Burial will be in Salem cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 15, 1935 to Helen Dallas Capel and the late Curtis Capel, who died in 1967.
He worked for Remax Real Estate in Grand Haven, Mich., served on the Carrier Mills Village Board, was a former school board member, a lifetime member of the Carrier Mills Fire Department and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrier Mills.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Amy (Glenn) Murphy of Harrisburg; a son, John C. Capel of Vienna; a brother, Wilburn (Janet) Capel of Anna; and three grandchildren, Nathan and Brynna Murphy of Harrisburg and Arla Capel of Murray, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Carrier Mills Fire Department in his memory.
Dorothy Nell Stricklin
Dorothy Nell Stricklin, 77, of 410 Small St., Harrisburg, died 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Sunset Garden cemetery in Harrisburg with Bro. Harold Ewell officiating. There will be no visitation. It is requested that those wishing to attend gather at the cemetery. Arrangements are in the charge of Reed Funeral Chapel.
She was born Sept. 28, 1924 in Harrisburg to Bernie and Thelma (Blades) Ewell. On May 29, 1942, she married
John Joseph "Joe" Stricklin in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1996.
She was a homemaker and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Nellie Canimore and Judith (James) Beckham, both of Harrisburg; a son, Benny (Linda) Stricklin of Harrisburg; three brothers, Bill Ewell of Texas, Jim (Carol) Ewell of Herod and Bro. Harold (Karen) Ewell of Galatia; a sister, Shelby Whitlock of Eldorado; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Cletus and John Ewell and two sisters in infancy.
The family suggests memorials be made to Cancer Survivors of Harrisburg.
William A. 'Bill' Wallace
William A. "Bill" Wallace, 83, formerly of Omaha, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Marysville, Calif. He was the son of Albert and Veva (Blackard) Wallace. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and four sisters. He is survived by his wife Lois of Marysville; a son, Bill of Olympia, Wash.; six grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann Bosaw of Omaha and three brothers, Jim of Marion, Charles of Palm Springs, Calif. and Sam of Sparta. Janet Reid
Janet Reid, 62, of 120 Vine St., Stonefort, died 2 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at her residence.
At her request, she will be cremated. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Harrisburg. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born May 29, 1940 in Champaign to Edwin and Ida Mae (Ettling) Thompson.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Harrisburg. She was a retired schoolteacher where she taught for close to 20 years at the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Elementary School.
She is survived by a daughter, Christy Hooper of Whitehouse, Tenn.; a son, Doug Reid of Kingwood, Texas; a sister, Marilyn Burklow of Harrisburg and four grandchildren, Will Hooper and Christopher Hooper, both of Whitehouse, Tenn. and Bethany Reid and Kristen Reid, both of Kingswood, Texas.
James T. 'Tom' Ramsey
James T. "Tom" Ramsey, 88, a longtime resident of Gallatin County, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28. 2002, at the home of his son in Evansville, Ind., after an extended illness.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in New Haven with the Rev. Dennis Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge cemetery in New Haven. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m.
He was born in Cottonwood Jan. 2, 1914, to the late Floyd and Fannie (Dillard) Ramsey. In 1934, he married
Flora (Browning) Ramsey, who preceded him in death in 1996.
He was a past Gallatin County board member, past supervisor of Asbury Township and 50-year member of the Ridgway Masonic Lodge No. 816. He was a retired farmer, wonderful father and grandfather.
He is survived by three sons, Tommy (Margo) Ramsey of Norris City, Joe (Pat) Ramsey of Auburn, Terry Ramsey of Evansville, Ind.; a daughter, Marilyn (Jerry) Wood of Jasper, Ga.; a brother, Clyde Ramsey of Boonville, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, one brother, one grandchild and a daughter-in-law.
Naomi Ruth Shelton
Naomi Ruth Shelton, 84, of 1521 Trolley Road, Eldorado, died 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with Harold Whitlock officiating.
Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery outside Eldorado. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born April 25, 1918, in Eldorado to Ben and Mabel (Simpson) Newton. On Jan. 21, 1934, she married
Clarence Shelton, who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1988.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Eldorado Church of God.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Nora) Karns, Mrs. Bill (Martha) Betz and Mrs. Joann Sisco, all of Eldorado; two sisters, Mimble Jean Weir of Eldorado and Barbara Butler of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Steve and Mitzi Hale of Pennsylvania, Sam and Melody Gould of Omaha, and Pam and Billy Karns, Mike Sisco, Donnie Lee Sisco and Larry Sisco, all of Eldorado; 12 great-grandchildren, Shane, Emily and Brody Hale, Tashina, Philip and Catilyn Karns, Kiley and John Gould, Zachery and Cory Sisco and Hannah and Nathanial Sisco and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Shelton; two brothers, Casper Newton and Ben Newton Jr. and two sisters, Helen Briddick Wells and Jenny Rose Newton.
Bonnie Elder
Bonnie Elder, 61, of 611 N. Friend St., Carrier Mills, died 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Burial will be in Coal Bank Springs cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born May 26, 1941, in Stonefort to Bernard and the late Faye (Lawrence) Motsinger. On Jan. 6, 1968, she married
Leroy Elder, who survives.
She was a member of Coal Bank Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Leah and Scott Deuel of Carrier Mills and Lorie and Joey Kiser of Morehead, Ky., and a brother, Frank Motsinger of Stonefort.
Dianne Braddock
Dianne Braddock, 63, of 408 N. Webster St., died 6:04 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, after an extended illness.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Braddock.
