Geneva Mae Cook, 78, died 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at the Eldorado Care Center.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Mt. Zion cemetery in Cave-in-Rock with Bro. Jim Price officiating. There will be no visitation. Hosick Funeral Home in Rosiclare is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two brothers.
Agatha 'Tillie' Meiers
Agatha "Tillie" Meiers, 70, of Equality, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at her residence after an extended illness.
The body will be cremated and the interment will be scheduled at a later date. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.
She is survived by four daughters, a sister, a brother, five grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, an aunt and many cousins and friends.
John Emil Hammersley
John Emil Hammersley, 75, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Eldorado, died 2:12 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Lindale Memorial Gardens between Harrisburg and Eldorado with the Rev. David Estep officiating. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret (Scroggins) Hammersley; a son; a daughter; his mother; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; one sister and several nieces and nephews.
Allen R. Jones
Allen R. Jones, 65, of Cortez, Fla., formerly of Harrisburg, died 4:30 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Cortez.
He was born March 20, 1937, in Kewanee to me late Otto and Adele (Lizdas) Jones. He worked as a laboratory technician for 32 years at Harrisburg Medical Center before his retirement in January 2000.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister, Patty Norton, and a daughter in infancy.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of Cortez; daughter, Candy Jones of Bellingham, Wash.; son, Robert and wife, Mary Jones of Harrisburg; stepson, Mark and wife, Windy Dawson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren, Riley and Gillian Jones of Harrisburg; stepgranddaughter, Jennifer Orndorph of Indianapolis, Ind.; great-stepgrandchildren, Zachary and Tristin Terrell of Indianapolis.
A private service will be held in Florida.

Robert Brake, 77, of McLeansboro, died 5:03 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the funeral home.
Phillip L. Hicks
Phillip L. Hicks, 54, rural Route 2, Golconda, died 3:58 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Massac Memorial Hospital, Metropolis.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Hosick Funeral Home, Rottmann Chapel, in Golconda. The Rev. Robert Patton and the Rev. Glen "Bud" Hicks will officiate. Burial will be in Wattersburg cemetery near Golconda. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the funeral chapel.
He is survived by his wife, the former Georgia Werner, his mother, three sons, one brother, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
William P. 'Roadrunner' Leger
William P. "Roadrunner" Leger, 76, of 1537 Maureen Drive, Marion, died 2 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Deon Dutton officiating. Burial will be in Highland cemetery in South Fort Mitchell, Ky. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Mt. Vernon, Ky., to William Lester and Pearl Mae (Mason) Leger. On Feb. 2, 1946, he married
the former Dorothy Gillespie, who survives.
He was a retired coal miner.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William Leger Jr. of Marion; a daughter, Brenda (Earl) Chamness of Marion; four grandchildren, Diana Brewer (Toby) Hoover of Marion, Debra Brewer (Kevin) Perkins of West Frankfort, Billie Sue Leger and Kimberly Leger, both of Eldorado; five great-grandchildren, Krista Hoover and Brittani Hoover, both of Marion, Amber Dial, Corey Dial and Alex Perkins, all of West Frankfort.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Leger; a brother, Virgil Leger and two sisters, Hazel Eldridge and Betty Ann Ford.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and can be left at the funeral home.
Fred J. Frey
Fred J. Frey, 98, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Ridgway in the Pond Settlement Community, passed away Monday, July 15, 2002.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Pond Settlement with Fr. Ray Engelhart officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery. Visitation is 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.
He was born in Ridgway on May 29, 1904, to the late John and Mary (Daily) Frey. He was married
to Esther (Higgins) Frey, who preceded him in death in 1995.
Mr. Frey was a retired businessman and a Roman Catholic.
He is survived by two nieces, Rita M. Meyers of St. Louis, Mo., and Pamela Tyrell of Treasure Island, Fla.; a nephew, Fred A. Ballman of Seattle, Wash.; and a great-nephew, Michael Tyrell of Margate, Fla.
Oma Turner
Oma Turner, 89, passed away 4:30 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law George and Zada Turner, Galatia.
She professed Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of the Nazarene Church in Harrisburg.
She was born July 11, 1913, in Dykersburg, to Fred and Jane (Flora) Motsinger. She married
George H. Turner of Williamson County on Nov. 8, 1931. To this unity was born George Frederick, Mary Lou and William Bruce. Preceding her in death were her parents, a husband, a daughter, Mary Lou Hughes, a son, William Bruce Turner, and a brother, Herschel Motsinger. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law George Frederick (Zada), daughter-in-law Bonnie Turner, son-in-law Bill Hughes, 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Reed Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20. The service will be held 10 a.m. at Reed Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Daniels and the Rev. J.P. Vilaire officiating. The casket will be closed prior to the service. Interment will be in Coal Banks cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to VNA Hospice in Eldorado. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Leona E. Aud, 79, of 711 Elder St., Eldorado, died 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at Webber cemetery in Galatia. There will be no visitation. Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado is in charge of the arrangements.
She was the widow of Joel W. Aud.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried and the Rev. Randall Ragan officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla cemetery in Alton. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the funeral home.
She is survived by a brother, a sister, two nephews, and two nieces.
William J. "Bill" Schuster
William J. "Bill" Schuster, 81, of Piopolis, died 11:40 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis with Msgr. Joseph Lawler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with graveside military services by VFW Post No. 3851 of Carmi. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. with Msgr. Joseph Lawler officiating.
He was he husband of Marian Schuster.
