Alyiah Jo Mayo
Alyiah Jo Mayo was a stillborn infant on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, in Evansville, Ind., to Aaron and Stefanie (Pettyjohn) Mayo of Emma.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Big Prairie cemetery near Emma. Cox and Son Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of the arrangements.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Richard and Connie Pettyjohn of Emma, Vicky and Bishop Belford of New Haven and Edward and Mary Mayo of Marissa; her great-grandparents, Gerald and Sylvia Seymour of Ellis Grove and Don and Nancy Schroeder of Chester; and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tobby Lane
Tobby Lane went home to be with the Lord 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2002. He was born May 8, 1928, to the late Roy and Blanche Mattingly Lane, the ninth of 15 children. He was married
to Emma Lou VonLienen Lane for 27 years until her death on Sept. 6, 1977. They had four children: Raymond and wife Beth, Connie and husband Rick Milligan, Tina Tullis and special friend Chris Ferrell of Harrisburg, and Alan and wife Linda of Virden. Tobby provided a home for Tina, Patrick and Naomi and was also Tina's very best friend. He is lovingly remembered by them and his six grandchildren: Rhett Lane, Patrick Tullis, Chrystal Milligan (Martin) Grant, Brooke Lane, Naomi Tullis, Brittany Lane and Autumn Milligan.
Sisters: Wanda Anderson, Donna (John) Beal, Becky (Jerry) Jones and brother, Scott (Hazel) Lane. He was preceded in death by the following sisters and brothers: Juanita Butler, Clara Ward, W.R. Lane, Bob Lane, Lee Lane, Pearl Hall, Imogene Brantley, Dan Lane and two babies that died in infancy. Tobby worked for the Southeastern Illinois Rural Electric Cooperative for over 25 years. His hard work ethic, honesty and kindness were his trademarks. He loved gardening and enjoyed sharing fresh produce with friends and those in need, and personally canning a storeroom full for winter. He also enjoyed taking long drives in his truck, going to auctions, his John Deere tractor, Snap-On tools, and his shed where he was always working on something for someone. He took great joy in attending Walnut Grove Church, bringing ice cream to Vacation Bible School kids and working on the Hillcrest Baptist Youth Camp. Until last year he fixed Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, with the best mashed potatoes around.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at Walnut Grove Church 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002, with the Rev. Dave Miller officiating. Burial will be in Saline Ridge cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in Tobby's name to the Hillcrest Baptist Youth Camp.
Anna Goldstein
Anna Goldstein, 81, of 301 Country Club Lane, Harrisburg, died 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel with Dr. Sam Goldman officiating. A private family burial will be held later. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Warsaw, Poland to Gabriel and Lena (Firestone) Dancyger. On Sept. 10, 1946, she married
Dr. Alexander Goldstein, who survives.
She was a member of Temple Israel in Paducah, Ky. Anna graduated from the Lab Tech program in Frankfurt, Germany in 1949. She was active in Girl Scouts for many years and former Vice-President of the Shagbark Council. She was a Charter member of the Board of Directors of Friends of the Library, organized and ran the Brown Bags & Books review; volunteer services chair & co-chairperson of Celebrity Readers. She was past Officer of the Ladies Association at Shawnee Hills Country Club, past member of the Cultural Arts Committee of SIC; member of Xi Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Dr. Maryann (Dr. David) Benditt of Edina, Minn.; a son, Dr. Steven (Debbie) Goldstein of Los Alamos, N.M.; and four grandchildren, Hannah Benditt and Sara, Megan and Zachary Goldstein.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Marie Reeder, 78, of 90 Peacock Road, Harrisburg, died 5:36 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at the Ledford cemetery with the Rev. Edward Jackson officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Friday at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills.
She was born June 4, 1924, in Viresta, W. Va., to the late G.W. and Nanny Gallimore. In September 1948, she married
James Reeder, who survives.
She was a member of the New Castle Baptist Church near Harrisburg.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Norma Helen Wilson of California; three sisters, Norma Quessenberry, Clare Quessenberry and Norma Gallimore, all of Virginia; a brother, Clyde Gallimore of Madisonville, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters.

Nina Lee Joyner, 83, of Santa Maria, Calif., formerly of Harrisburg, died 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Santa Maria.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born May 1, 1919, in Harrisburg to George and Clara (Sullivan) Cole. On March 7, 1946, she married
Michael Otto Joyner, who preceded her in death on April 29, 1994.
She was Baptist by faith and a homemaker.
She is survived by four sons, Earl Dewayne Joyner of Santa Maria, Calif., Darrell Ray Joyner of Salt Lake City, Utah, James Wesley Spirling of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and Thomas Lee Spirling of Santa Maria, Calif.; two daughters, Martha Louise Field of Missouri and Mary Jean Kloss of Lady Lake, Fla.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda Novetta Stout of Harrisburg.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael O. Joyner Jr.; two brothers, Robert Vernon Cole and Charles Thomas Cole; and four sisters, Alberta Russell, Georgia Mae Brinkley, Glenda Rae Wood and Charlene Webb.

Josephine "Jo" C. Herderhorst, 90, of McLeansboro, formerly of Cahokia, died 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Severin Nursing Home in Benton.

She is survived by two sons, four daughters, three sisters, several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Carl Edward Pankey
Carl Edward Pankey, 82, of Blackman Hill Road, Harrisburg, died 4 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Detroit, Mich.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Spring Valley Social Brethren Church with the Rev. Jerry Wells officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Valley cemetery in Rudement. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg with a Masonic service at 6 p.m.
He was born Sept. 20, 1919 in Carrier Mills to Earl and Iva (Matthews) Pankey. On Jan. 4, 1946, he marrried Mary B. Knight, who preceded him in death on May 24, 2001.
He was a journeyman machinist and a member of the Spring Valley Social Brethren Church in Rudement. He was an Army staff sergeant in World War II, a member of the Eddyville Masonic Lodge, the VFW and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite.
He is survived by a daughter, Carla (Brian) Cichon of Washington, Mich.; two sons, Samuel (Jackie) Pankey and Wendell (Terri) Pankey, both of Harrisburg; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a brother, Clyde Pankey of Carrier Mills.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Gee.

Aileen M. "Granny" Rister, 98, of 120 S. Land St., Harrisburg, died 9:17 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 4, 1904 in Wheatcroft, Ky. to Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Lankford) Smith. She married
James Huston and Seth D. Rister, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Billie Huston of Harrisburg; a daughter, Peggy (Kenny) Ozment of Harrisburg; a son, Jackie (Wilma Fay) Rister of Michigan City, Ind.; a daughter, Judy (John) Cowger of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren, Randy and Ron Ozment, Suzette Lambert, Lisa Ozment, Greg and Roger Rister, Patti Ahrendt, Kim Saar and Kendall and Kyle Cowger and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to both her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Joe Rister, four sisters and three brothers.
The family suggests memorial contributions go to the McKinley Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.

She was born Aug. 21, 2002, to Colt and Amy (Harrelson) Young.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Mitchell Dean Young and Curtis Henry Young; maternal grandparents Carroll and Debbie Harrelson of Ridgway; paternal grandparents Roger and Linda Young of Eldorado; maternal great-grandparents Carroll Sr. and Joan Harrelson of Shawneetown; paternal great-grandmother Laverne Mitchell of Raleigh and maternal great-great-grandmother Kathleen Shoultz of Wyoming.
