Louise Jones, 89, of Harrisburg, died 12:58 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 21, 1912 in Harrisburg to Henry and Fannie (Horton) Penrod. On July 17, 1978, she married
Orell Jones, who survives.
She was a clerk for Lloyd L. Parker Furniture for over 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Harrisburg and the Women's Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a stepdaughter, Linda Sandry of Hebron, Ind.; a stepson, John Jones of Hebron, Ind.; a brother, Edward Penrod of Metropolis; two sisters, Patsy Lou Douglas of Hillsboro and Delma Schrieker of Elgin and two grandsons, Eddie Rael and Brian Jones.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Helen J. Moss, 88, of McLeansboro, died 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.
Services were held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Mark Lee and the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial was at Ten Mile cemetery near McLeansboro. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at the funeral home.

Helen N. Weaver, 84, of rural Route 3, McLeansboro, died 7:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at Casey Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Msg. Joseph Lawler officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement's cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at the funeral home with a rosary at 7:15 p.m.
Paul Upton Reynolds
Paul Upton Reynolds, officer-director, Turner-Reynolds Theatres Inc. for more than 50 years passed away 7:44 p.m. Thursday evening, Sept. 5, 2002, at home. Mr. Reynolds was a founding member of the Egyptian State Bank and past chairman of the board of the Egyptian Bancshares. Mr. Reynolds was the only remaining board member of the original board of directors of ESB, which was organized in 1951. Mr. Reynolds was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Harrisburg to Justin and Minnie Upton Reynolds. Bernice Turner Reynolds, mother of Paula and Brenda, preceded him in death in 1946. Also preceded by Grace Holmes Reynolds, in 1988 mother of Stephen. He is survived by three sisters, Leah Riegel of Harrisburg, Sibyl Davis of Galatia and Dorothy Elder of Eldorado; one grandson, David Andrew Tyler of Philadelphia, Penn.; two daughters and one son, Paula Tyler of Philadelphia, Brenda Hendrickson of Chicago and Stephen Paul Reynolds of Harrisburg.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Sunset Lawn cemetery. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to V.N.A. Hospice. Contributions may be left at Gaskins Funeral Home, P.C. in Harrisburg. Gaskins Funeral Home, P.C. is in charge of the arrangements.

Greta L. Rost, 80, of Dahlgren, died 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Bob Deits officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch cemetery near Wayne City. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at the funeral home.
She is survived by five sons, a stepson, two daughters, three sisters, a brother, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Florence Miller Wilson Downen
Florence Miller Wilson Downen, 91, of Ridgway, died 5:10 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway with the Rev. Leo Hall officiating. Burial will be in Asbury cemetery in Omaha. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born July 6, 1910, in Asbury Township to the late Andrew J. and Zoa F. (Greer) Wilson. On March 19, 1932, she married
Carl Alfred Downen, who preceded her in death on July 17, 1978.
She was a homemaker and a member of Crossroads Bible Church in Norris City.
She is survived by a sister, Jessie Rogge of Evansville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Zoanna Downen, on August 18, 1986.
Sue Chapman
Sue Chapman, 63, of Carmi, formerly of McLeansboro, died 5:53 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Billie Duncan officiating. Private family burial will be at the White County Memorial Garden cemetery in Carmi. There will be no visitation. Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by three ex-husbands, four sons, three sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two infant sisters, and one brother.
Esther Taborn Jackson
Esther Taborn Jackson was born August 5, 1903 in Carrier Mills, to the proud parents of Joe Dennis and Mary Taborn. She was the first of eight sisters and three brothers. She went home to glory on June 27, 2002.
Esther found Christ at an early age. Esther was united in holy matrimony to J.D. Norton and to this union a daughter was born, Irene Jeanette. In 1934, they moved to St. Louis, Mo. Later in life she married
Henry Jackson. Husband Henry and daughter Irene Granger preceded her in death. Esther was active in the Eastern Star in her earlier years.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving granddaughter, Rose Michele Warfield Toney, of San Francisco; a grandson, James Granger III of St. Louis; great-granddaughters Robyn Nichole Diles (husband Michael) of Richmond, Calif., Winde Irene Toney of San Francisco; great-great-grandchildren Anias and Armani Diles; sisters Anna Taborn Nichols, Rose Taborn Holman and Mary Taborn North; a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Cunningham Moore Funeral Home in St. Louis. Interment is 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeview cemetery in Carrier Mills.
Dorothy Elaine Cecil Baker
Dorothy Elaine Cecil Baker, 77, of Saline Care Center in Harrisburg, formerly of Paducah, Ky., died 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating. There will be no visitation or funeral service at Reed Funeral Chapel. It is requested that those wishing to attend the graveside service, gather at the cemetery.
She was born March 20, 1925, in Harrisburg to the late Ernest Earl and Sarah Emily (Hunsinger) Baker.
She was Presbyterian by faith and a caretaker for the elderly.
She is survived by two brothers, Donald E. (Helen) Baker of Harrisburg and Frank L. (Barbara) Baker of Waverly, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Judith Ann Wallace, 61, of 1900 Dorris Heights Road, Harrisburg, died 8:40 a.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, at St. Louis University Hospital.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Pankeyville Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernie Fowler officiating and the Rev. John Lee assisting. Burial will be in Sunset Garden cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
She was born June 23, 1941, in Alton to Joseph Henry and the late Beulah Golden (Barnes) Goebel. On August 29, 1959, she married
Deon Wallace, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of Pankeyville Baptist Church.
In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by a daughter, Dedee (Greg) Lhamon of Waterloo; a sister, Sue (Chuck) Oglesby of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two grandchildren, Taylor and Rachel Lhamon; and several aunts, uncles, one niece and onr nephew.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Pankeyville Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. Allie Myers, 90, of McLeansboro, died 4:25 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Blooming Grove Baptist Church in McLeansboro with the Rev. Steve Shoultz and the Rev. Chris Hortin officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove cemetery near McLeansboro.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro and 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church.
Jesse H. Higgins
Jesse H. Higgins, 77, 313 McKinley, Galatia, died 5:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2002 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002 at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with Dr. James Baldwin officiating.
Burial will be in Webber Camp Ground, Galatia, with military rites performed at the cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002 at the funeral home, with Masonic rites at 7 p.m.
He was born April 2, 1925 in Norris City, son of Emmett and Inez (Roye) Higgins. He married
the former Loudean Vinson May 19, 1946. She survives.
He was past Mayor of Galatia, a present member of the Village Board and the Galatia Township Board of Trustees. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, who was awarded the Purple Heart. He also was a member of the UMWA, where he had served as a local official and past local president. He was a member of the Galatia Historical Society, past commander of the Galatia American Legion, life member of VFW Post No. 3479 of Eldorado, a member of the Eldorado American Legion Post No. 169, the Eldorado Men's Club, Galatia Masonic Lodge No. 684 A.F. and A.M. and a member of AINAD Shriners of East St. Louis. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Denny Higgins of Eldorado; one brother, Roy Higgins of Phoenix; one sister, Irene Higgins of Elgin; two granddaughters, Dawn Hall of Galatia and Misty Saunders of Brunswick, Maine; one grandson, Billy Higgins of Galatia; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelly Rae Higgins, and two brothers, Bill and Charles Higgins.
