Willard Fulkerson, 76, of 6 Fernwood Dr., Jacksonville, formerly of Harrisburg, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at the First Christian Church in Jacksonville. Burial will be in Diamond Grove cemetery. Visitation is after noon Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 and the family will meet friends at Cody & Son Memorial Home 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dorrice Hine; two daughters; three granddaughters; one great-grandson; one brother and four sisters.

Sophia Stulg, 89, of Harrisburg, died 5:35 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Melvin Edward Spiess Sr.
Melvin Edward Spiess Sr., 70, of Galatia, formerly of rural West Union, died 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union with Mark Simpson and Vincent Manhart officiating. Burial wil be in Walnut Prairie cemetery northeast of West Union. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at the funeral home and before services Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife, Aura Rae Manhart Spiess; four daughters; two sons; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Timothy James Hall
Timothy James Hall, 22, of 251 E. Logan Ave., Shawneetown, died 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at 10,000 Westwood Rd., Shawneetown, the result of an automobile accident.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with the Rev. Grover T. Leonberger officiating. Burial will be in Westwood cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at the funeral home.
He was born July 26, 1980, in Harrisburg to Ivan James and Kathryn Lucille (McCollum) Hall, who survive.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Iva Jane and Matt Cavins of Spottsville, Ky., and Anita Kay and Blaine Haight of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Franklin and Teddie Hall of Shawneetown; two nieces and five nephews.
Dewey Dallas Jr.
Dewey Dallas Jr., 76, of 500 S. Mill St., Harrisburg, died 10:13 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at his residence.
Services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Reed Funeral Chapel with Dr. James Baldwin officiating. Burial was in Lindale cemetery near Eldorado with full military honors performed by members of the VFW Saline Post No. 3479 and American Legion George Hart Post No. 167. Visitation was 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Saline County to the late Dewey and Gaynelle (Capel) Dallas Sr. On Dec. 9, 1991, he married
the former Patricia Mott, who survives.
He was a retired car salesman and a member of North American Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Steve, Ben, Carla, Mike, Jeff, Greg and Mark; a stepdaughter, Tammy Worley; a stepson, Robert Mott; a brother, Gary Dallas of Harrisburg; two sisters, Constance Newlin of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Rolene (Gene) Humphrey of Harrisburg; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
William Webster Hall
William Webster Hall, 83, of 25 Beagle Road, Stonefort, died 1:02 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Burial will be in Joyner cemetery with military rites. Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Stonefort to the late Will and Pearl (Allen) Hall. On Aug. 16, 1941, he married
Velma Nicholson, who preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2002.
He was a P.O.W. veteran of WWII. He was a retired vice president of Federal Land Bank of Southeastern Illinois, a member of Stonefort Eastern Star Chapter No. 31, the Vienna VFW and the Stonefort American Legion.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including his caregiver James and Michelle Richerson of Stonefort.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Barger and an infant brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Joyner cemetery and left at the funeral home.
Lucille Reynolds
Lucille Reynolds, 85, of Stonefort, died 5:55 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Jeff Owens officiating. Burial will be in Garris Chapel cemetery near Stonefort. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at the funeral home with Eastern Star Rites at 7 p.m. by the Stonefort Eastern Star.
She was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Stonefort to the late Thomas and Minnie (Burrow) Shadowens. In 1935, she married
Lloyd Reynolds, who preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1981.
She attended the Stonefort General Baptist Church and was a member of the Stonefort Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sons, Lloyd Wayne and Bill Reynolds, both of Stonefort; four daughters, Marybell Treat of Ozark, Martha Canada of Stonefort, Loretta Holmes of Crab Orchard and Kattie Lollar of Carrier Mills; a sister, Ruby Rice of Carrier Mills; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Rushing; five brothers; and four sisters.
Claude D. Lightner
Claude D. Lightner, 90, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Hardin County Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Rosiclare United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Green officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F.-Empire cemetery. There will be no visitation. Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Lightner and a sister.
Phyllis Maxine Abbott
Phyllis Maxine Abbott, 75, of Benton, died 6:55 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 4, 1927, in McLeansboro, the daughter of Clyde and Nellie (Poynor) Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Delbert McLain and Frank Abbott.
Mrs. Abbott was a retired beautician. She attended the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann (Walter) Beltz of Tamaroa; two sons, Jerry Elam of Benton and David E. (Barbara) Elam of Chester; seven adopted children; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Cowgur of Thompsonville and Donna Batts Cooksey of Benton; and two brothers, Albert Lee Johnson and James Poynor Johnson, both of Benton.
Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one daughter, Linda Sue Roberson; two brothers, David Robert Johnson and Paul E. Johnson; and by one sister, Betty Ferando.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with the Rev. Gene Auxier officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows cemetery in Benton.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, to the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home on 410 S. Main St. in Benton.

Robert L. 'Bob' Cain
Robert L. "Bob" Cain, 70, of Charleston Township, Kalamazoo, Mich., passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 12, 2002. Bob was born April 18, 1932 in Adair County, Okla., the son of William O. and Arrah (Rapp) Cain and was raised in Southern Illinois. Bob was a graduate of Galatia High School and attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky.
He was a veteran, retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1972 after 20 years, where he achieved his childhood dream of becoming a fighter pilot. He retired as a Major and served during the Vietnam Conflict. Later he was employed with the KALSEC Corporation where he retired from in 1994. Bob was a member of the Comstock United Methodist Church, and after retiring enjoyed traveling in his bus. He also enjoyed music and building things.
Bob was also a member of the Comstock VFW Post No. 6252, the Climax American Legion, the Michigan DAV and the Masonic Scottish Rite. On Jan. 28, 1953, he was united in marriage to the former Ruth Darnell, who survives. Also surviving are four children and their spouses, Melissa (William) Ackerman of Galesburg, Mich., Robert Jr. (Wendy) Cain of Livonia, Mich., William O. (Lori) Cain of Portage, Mich., and Cynthia (David) Hendrix of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Pauletta Gasaway of Portage, Mich., Kathleen Matson of Waynesville; sister-in-law, Edith Cain of Raleigh and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Cain. Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Hoag-Switzer Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway with the Rev. Peggy Baker of the Comstock United Methodist Church officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Ft. Custer National cemetery.
Friends may meet the family 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at the Comstock Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Comstock United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
