Lee Rushing
Lee Rushing, 90, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Ozark, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Bon Secours Place in Port Charlotte.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Rushing cemetery near Ozark. There will be no visitation. Aly Funeral Home in Golconda is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Aug. 24, 1912, in Johnson County to the late John and Mary Orlena (Smith) Rushing. He married
the former Frances Baker in 1938.
He taught school at Ozark, New Burnside, Carrier Mills and Waterloo. He was the high school principal at Oneida and at the Central School System in Clifton. He was a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity and Men's Club of Port Charlotte.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Rushing of Golconda; three daughters, Phyllis Ann (Steve) Cox of Port Charlotte, Mary Ellen (Mick) Barbezat of Elgin and Lara Fay (Bob) Krumwiede of Duluth, Minn.; eight nieces; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at 1599 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta, Ga., or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Ave., New York, N.Y.
Beverly June Richardson
Beverly June Richardson, 69, of Carmi, formerly of Mt. Carmel, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at White County Medical Center in Carmi.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel with burial in Rose Hill cemetery in Mt. Carmel. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at the funeral home.
Patricia Takacs
Patricia Takacs, 71, of Henderson, Ky., died 8:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Maurice Melton and the Rev. Orbley Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at the funeral home.
She was born March 4, 1931 in Harco to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Barta) Takacs. She never married
.
She was a librarian at the public library in Henderson and she had worked as a Kindergarten teacher in the Eldorado school district. She was a member of the Lawndale Baptist Church of Henderson and the WMU of Henderson. She is missed by family and friends.
She is survived by a brother, Steve Takacs of Galatia; three sisters, Rose Pritchett of Harrisburg, Helen Fougnies of Indianapolis, Ind. and Mitzie Melton of Evansville, Ind. and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by three brothers, Charlie, Frank and Joe and two sisters, Margaret Takacs and Elizabeth Stefane.
Mildred Thermel Lance
Mildred Thermel Lance, 75, of Golconda, died 8:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2003
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare with the Rev. Glen "Bud" Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Fluorine cemetery in Rosiclare. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003 at the funeral home.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ronald Culbreth
Ronald Culbreth, 66, of 105 N. Webster St., Harrisburg, died 2:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Paul Widicus officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 to service time Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1936, in Marion to Lloyd and Fern (Martin) Culbreth, both of whom are deceased. He married
the former Sharon Murray on May 29, 1964, in Marion.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg and a member of the United Methodist Men. He taught school two years at Carrier Mills, three years at Wood River, was superintendent of schools 14 years at Grayville, superintendent 12 years at Ridgway and became assistant superintendent when Gallatin County schools consolidated. He retired in 1991.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Joel Culbreth of Greenville, Tenn.; one stepson, Gregory Mekras of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Hays Ronald Culbreth and Victoria Mekras; and one nephew, John Kevin Culbreth of St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Culbreth.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Lupus Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
William Eugene Tanner
William Eugene Tanner, 80, of 109 W. National St., Harrisburg, died 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion.
Services were held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Kendall Jones officiating. Burial will be in Salem cemetery. Visitation was 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.
He was born July 21, 1922, in Harrisburg to the late Freeman and Grace (Furlong) Tanner. On Aug. 31, 2001, he married
the former Sarah Jane Edwards, who survives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII and was a retired security guard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five cousins, JoAnn Young, Ovalee Reynolds, Monzelle Butler, Bonnie Jones and Hazel Duncan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Tanner.
Margery Lucille Ward
Margery Lucille Ward, 92, of Galatia, died 1:05 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Vola Sittig officiating. Burial will be in Hebron cemetery in Broughton. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born March 5, 1910, in Broughton to the late J.E. and Otta (Douglass) Hargrave.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Aurora and attended Galatia Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a beautician for several years and worked for Illinois Bell Telephone for 22 years in Aurora.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Rosa Lee Girtman
Rosa Lee Girtman, 84, of Goreville, passed away at 4:32 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Herrin Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with the Rev. L.D. Jolly officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at the funeral home. Burial will be Busby cemetery in Goreville.
Ms. Girtman was born Nov. 1, 1918, in Goreville to William Orb and Eliza Jane (Perry) Girtman.
Survivors include her sister, Tennie Ann Girtman of Goreville; nephew, Leon and Carolyn Craig of Goreville; sister-in-law, Margaret Girtman of Marion; several nieces and nephews and special friend Sibyl Bramlet of Harrisburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elza Mae Craig and two brothers, Charles and John Girtman.
Ms. Girtman was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Eldorado. She was a homemaker.
Willard Nelson
Willard Nelson, 80, of 130 Williams Road, Herod, died 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

He is the husband of Genevieve Banks Nelson.

Services were held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Bill Reed and the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation was 10 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.

Virgil Sullivan, 90, of Golconda, formerly of the Simpson community, died 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at the Pope County Care Home.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda with the Rev. Phillip Poe officiating. Burial will be in Glendale cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 8 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Belle (Capps) Sullivan; a son; three stepdaughters; two stepsons; one brother; two sisters; one son-in-law; five grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several great-stepgrandchildren.
