Helen Lewis
Helen Lewis, 88, of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Carrier Mills, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at NHC Healthcare Center in Marilyn Heights, Mo.
At Mrs. Lewis' request, the body has been cremated. There will be no visitation. Services will be announced later. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born in Carrier Mills on March 31, 1914, to the late James and Ethel (Lebo) Martin. She married
Leland Lewis in 1937 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1999.
She was the retired owner of Lewis Delicatessen.
She is survived by two daughters, Carole Kramer of Oakville, Mo., and Patricia Rowberry of Florissant, Mo.; one son, Leland Lewis Jr. of West County, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Mildred Elizabeth Wilson
Mildred Elizabeth Wilson, 94, Galatia, died 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. The Rev. Bob Workman will officiate and burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery, Marion. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to service time, Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 21, 1909, in Marion to the late George W. and Cora (Goodman) Lackey. She married
Eugene T. Wilson, who preceded her in death.
She was an employee of the U.S. Post Office for 20 years and had also worked for Private Care Nursing Home in Florida.
She is survived by a brother, Leo Lackey, two sisters, Vida Abney and Carrie Millers; one niece, Beverly Baumann of Sugarland, Texas; and one nephew, Hallie Abney of Marion.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Clyde Wilson; one sister, Virginia Goodwin; and one nephew, Charles Abney.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to her caretakers: Paula Anderson, JoAnn Shelton, Dora Presley, Shirley Kaiser and Linda Workman.
DeWanda Sue (Seagraves) Dooley
DeWanda Sue (Seagraves) Dooley, 64, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Carbondale Hospital.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial was in Lindale cemetery.
She was born Sept. 15, 1938, to the late William Easton and Ethel (Ratley) Seagraves.
A lifelong resident of Eldorado and a homemaker, she was the beloved wife of the late James E. Dooley; loving mother of Virgil Hammersley of Eldorado, Debi (Bill) Sell of Elgin and Vicki Dale of Harrisburg; a dear grandmother to Allisha McCuan of Harrisburg, Jami Dale of Centralia, Amanda Carson of North Carolina, Jackie Dale of Rosiclare, Samantha and Cassidy Sell of Elgin and Paulie Hammersley of Indiana; a caring sister to Louise (Charles) Gwaltney of Carmi; and two brothers, Clarence (Pat) Seagraves of Brookport and Charles (Juanita) Seagraves of Harrisburg.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Carl, Gary and Junior Seagraves; and three sisters, Anna Adams, Edna Lynn and Barbara Vinabel.
Sharon K. (Browning) Goodrich
Sharon K. (Browning) Goodrich, 56, of New Haven, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home New Haven Chapel. The Rev. Cord Bear will officiate and burial will be in Union Ridge cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at the funeral chapel.
She is survived by her husband, Merlin, her mother, three brothers and her parents-in-law.

Ronald Matthews, 69, Marion, formerly of Harrisburg, died 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at the Veteran's Administration Nursing Home in Marion.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Harold W. Dallas
Harold W. Dallas, 76, Sullivan, Ind., formerly of the Dallasania community in Saline County, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, in Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan, Ind. Burial with military honors will be in Center Ridge cemetery, Sullivan, Ind. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Bovinet Dallas, two daughters and seven grandchildren.
E. Ronald 'Ronnie' Coon
E. Ronald "Ronnie" Coon, 83, of Harrisburg, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Ft. Myers, Fla.
The body has been cremated as per Ronnie's wishes with burial of his cremains to be scheduled at a later date. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Gaskins Funeral Home.
He was born April 18, 1919 in Rossville to Everett Isaac and Reva (Groves) Coon. He married
Alice Caldwell, who preceded him in death in 1990. He married
Corinne "Connie" Wiseheart, who survives.
Mr. Coon was an Air Force veteran, having served during WWII. He was also a graduate of University of Illinois with a master's degree in agriculture. He was retired from Farmers Home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Susie) Rodocker of Carrier Mills; a brother, Willard Coon of Rossville; and three grandchildren, Caldwell Hauptmann, Ronnie Hauptmann, and Maggie Rodocker.
Wanda Ann Watson
Wanda Ann Watson, 41, 324 Dayton St., Harrisburg, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 at Harrisburg Medical Center as a result of an auto accident.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg, with cremation to follow the service. The Rev. Larry Shea will officiate.
She was born Jan. 3, 1962 in Eldorado to Donald R. and Barbara (Price) Watson.
She worked as a cook for John's Cafe for several years.
She is survived by her mother, Barbara Johnson; three sons, Brian Orange, Robert D. Orange and Shawn Watson, all of Harrisburg; two brothers, Donald Eugene Watson of Paducah, Ky. and Larry Ray Watson of Harrisburg; four sisters, Donna Sue Campbell of Harrisburg, Sharon Fuquay of Harrisburg, Crayne Sandy of Evansville, Ind., and Mary Beth Watson of Evansville, Ind.; and a special friend, Brian Orange of Harrisburg.
John R. Oxford
John R. Oxford, 63, of Romeoville, died 3:05 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove cemetery near McLeansboro.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at the funeral home.
He is survived by a companion, two sons, a daughter, six grandchildren, two brothers and a sister.
Vivian Launius Cantrell
Vivian Launius Cantrell, 82, of Taylors, S.C., formerly of McLeansboro, died 4:25 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Elder Jim Power and Larry Woodrow officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery near Thompsonville. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at the funeral home.
She is survived by four brothers, three sisters and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vivian Irene Gibbs
Vivian Irene Gibbs, 87, of 1112 W. McHaney St., Harrisburg, died 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born on May 21, 1915, in Eldorado to the late Walter and Ida Elizabeth (Cross) Carter, but was raised by her aunt and uncle, Tom and Bertha Goldman, who also preceded her in death. On Jan. 27, 1935, she married
Gladius Gibbs and he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1983.
Vivian was a past Nobel Grand of the Rebekah Lodge in Harrisburg, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a very active member of the New Life Circle, the Wesleyann's Sunday School class and the United Methodist Women, all at the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg. She was also a volunteer at the HMC Hospital Auxiliary for many years.
She is survived by three daughters, Martha (husband Dale) Reynolds and Mary (husband Thornton) Davis, all of Springfield and Sarah Gibbs of DuQuoin, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A sister, Margaret Prather of Clearwater, Fla., also survives.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, also at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Paul Widicus, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg, will officiate.
Interment will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg.
