Easter Pearson
Easter Pearson, 86, of Carrier Mills, died 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Joey Dunning officiating.
Burial will be in Salem cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
She was born April 23, 1916, in Saline County to the late Hosea and Nellie (Bolin) Simpson. On Jan. 2, 1934, she married
John "Bud" Pearson, who preceded her in death on April 24, 1982.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills and the Comfort Rebekah Lodge No. 48 in Carrier Mills.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Holland and Mrs. James Margaret (Peggy) Gibbons, both of Carrier Mills; two daughters, Mrs. Archie "Sarah" Vaughn of Carrier Mills and Rachael Kaupp of Justatree, Calif.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald D. Pearson; a granddaughter, Pamela Nelson and a grandson, Jimmy Gibbons.

Allie Louise Whitler
Allie Louise Whitler, 86, of 145 E. Logan Ave., Shawneetown, died 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with the Rev. Cherrie Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be in Westwood cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 30, 1916 in Shawneetown to the late Harry and Nellie Mae (Schumaker) Awalt. On May 26, 1934, she married
William Joseph Whitler, who preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1970.
She was a homemaker and a member of Shawneetown Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Shawneetown Eastern Star.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Earl) Casey of Shawneetown and a granddaughter, Kimberly (Preston) Thompson of Madisonville, Ky.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry Awalt Jr., Raymond, William Fred and Kelly J. Awalt and three sisters, Lorena Hayes, Eula Awalt and Anna Jane Crane.

Barbara Sullivan
Barbara Sullivan, 90, of Harrisburg, died 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Abell officiating. Burial will be in New Burnside cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1912, in Centralia to Maximillian and Cora (Addison) Scherer. On Jan. 24, 1931, she married
Francis "Frank" Sullivan, who preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1996.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son in infancy; two sisters, Mary Johns and Lillie Elliott; a brother, Benjamin Scherer and two stepbrothers, James and Johnnie Franklin.
Helen Manker
Helen Manker, 86, of Sesser, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the Pinckneyville Skilled Care Facility.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Sesser with the Rev. David Morgan and the Rev. Jack Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery in Sesser.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at the Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser and 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the church.
She was born Aug. 16, 1916, to William "Willie" Walter and Della Mae (Duckworth) Tate. She married
James Edward Manker, who preceded her in death on May 3, 1986.
She was a very hardworking homemaker and mother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sesser and the Galatia Eastern Star.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice (Thomas) Seals of Sparta; two sons, Dan (Jackie) Manker of Springfield and Larry (Carolyn) Manker of Sesser; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Noel and Olen and two sisters, Verna and Clyda.
Mary W. Taylor
Mary W. Taylor, 85, of Golconda, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Hardin County Hospital in Rosiclare.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda with the Rev. Billy Green officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Golconda. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
She is survived by a daughter, a stepson, two sisters, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Rita Pearl Schwartz
Rita Pearl Schwartz, 93, of Saline Care Center, formerly of S. Granger St., Harrisburg, died 4:05 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Saline Care Center.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Mark Hutson officiating. Burial will be in Bankston cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 1, 1908, in Harrisburg to William and Dollie (Pankey) Isaacs. On Feb. 1, 1925, she married
Floyd William Schwartz, who preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1973.
She was a homemaker and a 77-year member of Bankston Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
She is survived by a son, Glenn (Carla) Schwartz of Harrisburg; a daughter, Linda (Kenny) Byron of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Kathy (Mark) Atkinson of Harrisburg, Stan (Lynn) Schwartz of Carrier Mills, Tamara (Dan) Hanson of Harrisburg, Kevin (Claire) Byron of Tennessee, Kyle (Mona) Schwartz of Harrisburg and Theresa (Jim) Case of Arizona; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Billy Dean Schwartz in infancy, a sister, Hazel Wright, and a brother, Roy Isaacs.

Alma Louise Davis, 90, of 1200 Magnolia Ave., died 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Life Care Center of Cleveland, Tenn.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. W. R. Baker officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic cemetery. Visitation is noon to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 13, 1912, in Clay, Ky. to H. L. and Willie (Hamvy) Medley. She married
Ben Davis, who preceded her in death in 1981.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Marjorie Coffee of Galatia and a sister, Georgia Stephenson of Cleveland, Tenn.

Tommy Keown, 65, of Eldorado, died 3:36 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Carl Pankey, 82, of Rochester, Mich., formerly of 1605 Blackman Hill Road, Harrisburg, died 4 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002.

Henry T. Maddox
A 70-year-old resident of Carmi, Henry T. Maddox, passed away 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at his residence in Carmi. He was born Sept. 23, 1932 in Harrisburg, the son of Henry Garrison and Jaunita Virginia (Love) Maddox. He was a retired school teacher from the Carmi High School. He was a member of the White County Retired Teachers Association. He helped with the one niter for many years and was a drama coach. He was a former announcer for WROY and WRUL radio.
Surviving is his wife of 39 years, Ladonna Maddox of Carmi; three daughter and sons-in-law, Ruth and Rogers Nickens of Evansville, Ind., Janine and Steve Heath of Carmi and Lori and Dennis Dailey of Seminary, Miss.; a son, Teddy Maddox and special friend Brooke Hunsaker of St. Louis, Mo.; his stepmother, Bernice Maddox of Harrisburg; a sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Ron Morse of Harrisburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Susie Maddox of Harrisburg and four grandchildren, Maranda, Marissa and Mariah Heath and Denny Dailey.
Funeral services for Henry T. Maddox, 70, of Carmi, will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in the Kuykendall cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002.
John Daniel Cannon
John Daniel Cannon, 40, of 6440 U.S. Route 45 South, Carrier Mills, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, in Wheeling, W. Va.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Leon Dunning officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday.
He was born May 25, 1962 in Peoria to the late James Daniel and Gaynell (Raglin) Cannon. He married
Joann Groce on Jan. 1996, who survives.
He was a truck driver and a member of the Olive General Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Willie Cannon, Amy Cannon, Natalie Cannon and Thomas Simmons, all of Tennessee; Deziray and Danyel Simmons, both of Carrier Mills; four sisters, Roberta Funk of New Burnside, Debbie Zappa, Tina Russell and Pamela Trover, all of Tunnell Hill; two brothers, Michael and Richard Cannon, both of Tunnel Hill; and one grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Cannon and a sister, Jacqueline Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the family and left at the funeral home.
