Hillery L. 'Corkey' Douthitt
Hillery L. "Corkey" Douthitt, 74, of 1200 State St., Eldorado, died 4:48 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with Bruce Cullers officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery with military rites. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1928, in East Alton to Bob and Mae Douthitt. He married
the former Verlene Bonner, who survives.
He was a plumber who held a master plumber's license. He was a member of the No. 551 Plumbers and Pipefitters Local in West Frankfort for more than 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Ridgway.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Hilda Lee Douthitt of Eldorado; a brother-in-law, Floyd Bonner of Norris City; a sister-in-law, Emmalene Baker of Eldorado and three nephews, Ernest Vanzant of McLeansboro, Gary Vanzant of Eldorado and Norman Vanzant of West Frankfort.
Emma Frances Willis
Emma Frances Willis, 66, of Eldorado, formerly of Cave-in-Rock, died 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Eldorado Care Center.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock. Burial will be in Cave Hill cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at the funeral home.
Hugh Lee Thompson
Hugh Lee Thompson, formerly of Carrier Mills, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, in Phoenix, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held in Arizona, with cremation to follow.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Jane Gaskins.
Paul M. Turner
Paul M. Turner, 92, of 7205 114th Court E. St., Puyallup, Wash., formerly of the Greenhill Community, died 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Curt Yarbrough officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 29, 1909, in Eldorado to John "Duke" and Carrie (Jones) Turner. He married
the former Velma Dodd, who preceded him in death in 1954.
He was a farmer and a member of Star General Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, Charles (Kitty) Turner of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Neva (Al) Pearson and Donna Rogers, both of Puyallup, Wash.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, James Turner in 1999 and a sister, Nellie Horn.
Charles R. Davis
Charles R. Davis, 82, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Saline County, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 in Alpine, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Cummins) Davis; a son; a daughter; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four nieces and two nephews.
Perry Tucker
Perry Tucker, 79, of Hamlet, Ind., formerly of Hammond, Ind., died 2 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Our Lady of Holy Cross Care Cetner in San Pierre, Ind.
He was born in Harrisburg on April 15, 1923, to the late William and Elsie (Hubbard) Tucker. Perry was a Seabee in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. On Sept. 8, 1947, he married
Anna Mae Middleton. He worked as a crane operator for U.S. Steel in South Chicago for 36 years, retiring in 1984.
Surviving family members include his wife, Anna Mae Tucker of Hamlet, Ind.; two daughters, Patricia (husband James) Wells of Hammond, Ind. and Sherri Weil of Whiting, Ind.; two grandsons, David (wife Debbie) Daniel of Kentucky and Robert Tanas of Hammond, Ind.; one granddaughter, Danielle Weil of Whiting, Ind.; three great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Shelby McDaniel and Kellie Tanas; a brother, Robert (wife Juanita) Tucker of Tucson, Ariz; beloved mother-in-law, Iva Middleton of Harrisburg; two sisters-in-law, Lovita Morgan of Oswego and Melba Tucker of Harrisburg. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Tucker; two brothers, Bertis and Bill Tuckera and by his father-in-law, Elvis Middleton.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, also at Reed Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be in Spring Valley cemetery south of Harrisburg.
Full military honors will be performed at the cemetery by members of the Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legion and VFW.

James Larry Moore
James Larry Moore, 57, of Harrisburg, died 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Moore will be cremated and a memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg. The family will greet friends and family 5 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 8, 1945, in Harrisburg to Herman John and Mary Maxidene (Rose) Moore. On May 27, 1983, he married
the former Linda Lou Jackson, who survives.
He was a laborer for General Motors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Lynn Moore of Holly, Mich., Jody Copenhaver of Waterford, Mich., and Jamie Moore of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Nicole and D.J.; three brothers, John Moore of Michigan, Ernest Moore of Massachusetts and Gary Rose of Oklahoma; six stepchildren, Donnie Gobin, Tammy Vickery, Jackie Norton, Melinda Sheldon, Shane Acosta and Jason Jackson; and eight stepgrandchildren.
Abbie Maureen Gholson
Abbie Maureen Gholson, 92, of McLeansboro, died 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried and the Rev. Ron Trotter officiating. Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was the widow of Elmo Gholson. She is survived by a son, a daughter, three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
Gladys I. Hatcher
Gladys I. Hatcher, 83, of Godfrey, formerly of Johnston City, died 2:24 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at her residence.
Services wil be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with the Rev. Andre Dobson officiating. Burial will be in Masonic cemetery in Raleigh. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Johnston City to the late Frank and Marie (Shelton) Thompson. On Feb. 6, 1940, she married
Sammie C. Hatcher in Morgantown, Ky., who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1987.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Godfrey.
She is survived by two sons, Jim B. (Karen) Hatcher Sr. of Godfrey and Daniel R. (Sharon) Hatcher of Moro; five grandchildren, William Hatcher of Lander, Wyoming, Kerri (Robert) Callahan of Westerville, Ohio, Toi Hatcher of Waterloo, Lauri (Shawn) Langley of Alton and Jamie (Gina) Hatcher of Godfrey; five grandchildren, Phillip Saale of Waterloo, Melissa Saale of Waterloo, Cameron Callahan of Westerville, Ohio, MacKenzie Callahan of Westerville, Ohio, and Elana Hatcher of Godfrey; a sister-in-law, Wilma Thompson of Pawnee and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip and James Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund in Godfrey.
Lynn Ledford Mielke
Caryn Lynn Ledford Mielke, born Jan. 4, 1948, in Harrisburg, lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer on July 25, 2002, at her home in Tucson, Ariz. Lynn attended Harrisburg public schools and graduated from Harrisburg High School in the class of 1966. Lynn will be remembered for her excellent skills as a twirler in front of the marching Bulldogs during her high school days, as a talented dancer and for her beautiful red hair. Lynn moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 1974 and became a master stylist with the El Con JC Penny where she was the most accomplished stylist of all 30 in the salon. She rose to the position of manager and continued styling hair until her illness required her to stop.
Lynn is survived by her mother, Bedelia Ledford, her brother Larry and her two daughters, Chanda Jones of Poway, Calif., and Celece Chapman; grandchildren, Ashley, Caroline and Tyler.
Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Ed Ledford.
Graveside services were held July 30, 2002, at East Lawn Palms cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to Bea Ledford, 1710 East 7th St., Tucson, Ariz. 85719.
Bessie Sisk
Bessie Sisk, 82, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Equality, died 12:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Equality United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Earl Jones Funeral Home in Equality.
She was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Equality to Wilford Alvie and Carrie (Bond) Meadows. On Feb. 22, 1938, she married
Jewell Elbert Sisk in Morganfield, Ky., who preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1991.
She was a clerk typist for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for more than 35 years and a member of the Equality United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Nayna (Don) Frohock of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Donald E. Frohock of Phoenix, Ariz., Brian Sisk of Alton, Craig Sisk of East Alton and Anissa Sisk Wooten of Wood River; three great-grandchildren, Colby, Cassie and Chase Sisk and a daughter-in-law, Jean Sisk of Alton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Leighton Sisk on Aug. 14, 1993, and a brother, Charles "Bud" Meadows.
