Alice (McAleer) Perkins
Mrs. Mary Kennedy of Eldorado received word of the death of her sister, Alice (McAleer) Perkins of Roseville, Mich. Mrs Perkins died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and John Pierce on January 22, 1998 in Warren, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Perkins.
She is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bill Showers; and a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Aline of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Beulah Irene Manning
Mrs. Beulah Irene Manning, 84, of Golconda, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, in Hardin County General Hospital at Rosiclare.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henson on Jan.12, 1966. She later married
James Manning, who also preceded her in death.
She was born on March 6, 1913, in Pope County to the late Ben and Della Stevens McCool.
Mrs. Manning retired as a hospital attendant from Elgin State Hospital. She was of the Social Brethren faith.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Glenna Henson of Golconda; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, and three sons, James Russell Henson, Robert Henson and Dick Henson.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Gospel Mission in Golconda. The Rev. Roy Hughes and the Rev. Bill Green will officiate. Burial will be in the Waltersburg cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Saturday at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda.
Helen Cummings
Mrs. Helen Cummings, 86, of Golconda, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998 at 12:42 a.m. in Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cummings on May 26, 1995.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1912 in Carrier Mills, to the late Charles and Helen Farmer Perry.
She was retired as a hospital secretary from the Anna State Mental Health Center.
She was a member of the Golconda United Methodist Church and a charter member of Pope County Historial Society.
Surviving are a son, Steve, and daughter-in-law, Linda Cummings, of Golconda; a daughter, Martha Gill of Evansville, Ind.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Serivces will be held at 2 p.m Sunday at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Larry Schultz will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Golconda.
Mary Benoit
Mary Benoit, 75, of Rosiclare, died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She attending the Social Brethren Church in Golconda.
She was preceded in death by a brother, "Scooter" Lanham, a half-brother, J.C. Hobbs, and a half-sister, Helen Potts.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Chuck DePriest will officiate and burial will be in Adams cemetery.
Charles M. 'Chum' Klucavich
Services for Charles M. "Chum" Klucavich, 79, of Eldorado, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998 at the Equality Christian Center. The Rev. Allen Porter will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Vickery Funeral Home in Equality.
Donations may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Eldorado or the American Cancer Society.
Timothy Drone
Timothy Patrick Douglas Drone, 11, of 3210 Cottonwood Road, Eldorado, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998 as a result of injuries received in an auto accident near Eldorado.
He was born in Harrisburg on May 26, 1987 to Greg and Janie (Bond) Drone.
Timothy was a sixth grader at Eldorado Junior High School and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Eldorado.
Surviving are his parents, Greg and Janie Drone of Eldorado; a sister, Amanda Drone of Eldorado; grandparents, L. Pat and Darlene Drone and Doug and Helen Bond, all of Ridgway; great-grandparents, Roberta Naas and Bernice Drone, both of Ridgway and Geneva Drone of Eldorado; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway. Fr. Don Abell will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery at Ridgway.
Friends may call Monday at 4 to 8 p.m. at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway, where prayer services will be at 7 p.m. Monday.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Timothy Drone Memorial Fund and left at the funeral Home.
Marilyn R. Towle
Marilyn R. Towle, 62, of 2311 West Lawrence, Springfield, died in St. John's Hospice in Springfield on Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998 at 5:30 p.m.
She was born in Eldorado on Aug. 23, 1935, to the late Cecil and Marguerite (Hill) Towle.
Miss Towle was employed by the Illinois Secretary of State's Office serving as Administrative Secretary to the late Secretary of State Paul Powell; and Assistant Director of the Index Department for 14 years. She retired in 1991 after 35 years of service. For the past five years she was employed as legal secretary to Atty. Jon Ellis.
Surviving are a brother, John Towle of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Rita) Sorenson of Des Plaines; a nephew, Jack Sorenson; and a niece, Julie Sorenson, both of Des Plaines; three aunts, Hilda Brantley of Eldorado, Grace Pankey and Dorothy Starkey, both of Harrisburg; and several cousins.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998 at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m Tuesday. The Rev. Walter Baker will officiate and burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery at Eldorado.
Genave 'Jane' Nation
Genave "Jane" Nation, 77 of 1101 Moore Apt., Eldorado, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998 at 4:10 p.m. at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1920, in West Frankfort, to the late Gus and Mae Garrett Nation.
She was a seamstress and a member of Eldorado Gospel Assembly Church.
Surviving are four sisters, Margaret Givens, Roberta Sutton and Nadine Minor, all of Eldorado and Maxine Perry of Gilroy, Calif.; two brothers, William Nation of Whitehouse, Tenn. and Kenneth Nation of Houston, Texas; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Nation, and three sisters, Emma Ruth Nation, Geneva Nation and Gussie Mae Nation.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. The Rev. Dewayne Jolly will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery at Eldorado.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Vivian N. Palmer
Mrs. Vivian N. Palmer, 73, formerly of Herod and Harrisburg areas, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998 in the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orval Palmer in 1977.
Mrs. Palmer born in Pope County on March 6, 1924, to the late Fred and Ethel Williams Roberts.
She was retired from Brocks Candy Co. in Chicago and was a member of the Honeycomb Church of God.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Lyndall W. and Christie Palmer; and a grandson, Jonathan Palmer, all of Vandalia; four sisters, Wavel Waltz of Harrisburg, Mrs. Henry (Leontine) Jones of Bonnie, Mrs. John (DeEtta) Murphy of Pontiac, Mich. and Mrs. Lyndell (Yvonne) Futch of Carrier Mills.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, LaHoma Roberts and Lois Puckett Coleman and a brother, Alger Roberts.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Lowell Williams will officiate and burial will be in Palestine cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association and may be left at the funeral home.
