Dennis Loyd Moore
Dennis Loyd Moore, 93, of 1010 N. Main St., Carrier Mills, died 9:20 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Steve Dunn and the Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating. Burial will be in Salem cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002, at at the funeral home.
He was born July 7, 1908, in Saline County to the late George Gilbert "Polly" and Lucy Adeline (Baker) Moore. On April 18, 1929, he married
Ivah Beatrice Milburn, who preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 1988.
He was a retired coal miner at Sahara Coal Company and a member of First Baptist Church at Carrier Mills.
He is survived by two daughters, Sue (Tom) Syers of Carrier Mills and Patricia (Clyde) Durfee, also of Carrier Mills.; three grandchildren, Mike (Tammy) Syers of Carrier Mills, Julie (Steve) Dunn of Harrisburg, and Denise Furlong of Florida; four great-grandchildren, Brandi Furlong, Alyssa Syers, and Jessica and Sarah Dunn.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and George Moore; and three sisters, Viola Clements, Mary Robinson, and Frances Moore.
Evelyn Watson
Evelyn Watson, 81, of Harrisburg, died 5:25 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2002, at the Harrisburg Care Center.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Ledford cemetery. Visitation is noon to service time Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born June 27, 1920, in Kansas City, Kan., to J.W. and Emma Lou (Reneer) Crowder. On Feb. 1, 1935, she married
William "Bill" Watson, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1988.
She was a Baptist by faith.
She is survived by two sons, Carl Watson of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Ray Watson of Harrisburg; eight daughters, Lou Sharp of Owensboro, Ky., Hazel Coffman of Beach Grove, Ky., Shirley Reeves of O'Fallen, Mo., Jo Anna Holland of Galatia, Beverly Nelson of Harrisburg, Carolyn Watson of St. Charles, Mo., Willye Smock of Harrisburg, and Deanna Ferrell of Harrisburg; 27 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Watson; a daughter, Dianna Watson; two brothers, Ray and Bill Crowder; and a sister, Arlie Mae Watson.
Imogene Raymer
Imogene Raymer, 80, of 102 Cherokee Dr., Harrisburg, died 12:08 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2002, in Harrisburg Medical Center.

Gladys O. Thornton
Gladys O. Thornton, 86, of 409 Oak St., Carrier Mills, died 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2002.
She was born in the Eagle Creek community on Nov. 1, 1915, to the late Josiah and Catherine (Horton) Hull. On April 24, 1961, she married
James H. Thornton.
She attended Equality High School and worked as a waitress at Nick's Cafe in Harrisburg until she and James were married
. After their marriage, they owned and operated the James Thornton Funeral Home in Carrier Mills until their retirement in 1985. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills and a member of Comfort Rebekah Lodge No. 48 in Carrier Mills.
She is survived by her husband James, sons Joe (Donna) Thornton of Lake of Egypt and James Henry (Cheryl) Thornton of Marion; six grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002, in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills where visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2002. The Rev. Harl Cockrum will officiate and burial will be in Salem cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Salem cemetery in her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Roscoe, Iley, Granville, Clifford, Harold, and Gilbert Hull and four sisters, twin infant sisters Irene and Lorene Hull, Lola Neitzert, and Madely Pearsall.
Elva Lee Reeder
Elva Lee Reeder, 75, of 1101 Moore St., Eldorado, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2002, at Wesley Chapel cemetery with Jason Cowgill officiating.
Visitation is 1 p.m. to service time Friday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado.
She was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Carmi to Albert and Clara Helen (Thompson) Trafford. She married
George Reeder, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Janis (David) Mecum of Eldorado and Debbie Daniel of Texas; one sister; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Billy Ray Handor
Billy Ray Handor, 73, of Clay, Ky., died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, of cancer.
Arrangements are pending at Van Buren Funeral Home in Clay, Ky.
He is survived by his wife Inez. He was the cousin of Geraldine Bardos. He was the nephew of Isham and Ella Pearl Threet.

Utha Gaddis, 92, of Eldorado, died 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.

Philip F. Paul
Philip F. Paul, 84, of Evansville, Ind., died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Philip was born in Enfield, the eldest son of Joseph and Ella Paul. He moved to Evansville in 1937.
Mr. Paul was a founding member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the Knights of St. John No. 335 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Philip Conservation Club, Hilltop Grove, the Order of Owls, Local No. 808 of AF of L-CIO and was a union steward, Darmstadt Retirees Club, Local No. 808 Retirees Club and A.A.R.P. He was a receiving clerk at Whirlpool Corporation for 32 years before he retired in 1978. He was also co-founder of P&C; Pallet Service and operated it for 30 years.
Philip loved fishing, rabbit and squirrel hunting and playing in clabber tournaments. He won many trophies and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving is his wife of seven years, Susie "Pauline" Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Paul maintained residences in Evansville and Harrisburg. Also surviving are five sons, Dr. James F. Paul of Bourbonnais, Ronald "Slim" Paul of Mexican Hat, Utah, Michael Paul of Evansville, Kenneth Paul of Evansville, and Christopher Paul of Houston, Texas; four daughters, Sister Betty Paul, S.P. of Whitinsville, Mass., Linda Koressel of Evansville, Kathy Baysinger of Terre Haute, Ind., and Deborah Paul of Evansville; three stepchildren, Sharon Donnely and Kay Partin of Harrisburg and Louise Seeba of Lake Station, Ind.; two sisters, Mary Zeller of Wadesville, Ind. and Loretta Koester of Evansville, Ind.; one brother, Leo "Simon" Paul of St. Wendel, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, LeeAnn and John Koressel, Christina Paul, Ryan and Kurtis Baysinger, Gavin and Gabriella Eddings, Billy Sue Mahan, Harvey and Guy Taylor, and Jody Paul; four great-grandchildren, Cicely McBride, Tyer and Cheyenne Mahan and Scottie Paul.
Mr. Paul was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Leona Schenk Paul in 1993, his brother, Clarence "Spud" Paul and his sister, Patricia Phillips.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2002, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the Rev. James Blessing officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may call 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Pierre Funeral Home where there will be a memorial service at 4 p.m.
Friends may also visit at Corpus Christi Catholic Church from 10 a.m. to service time Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the Sisters of Providence Retirement Fund or the American Heart Association.
