Ruby Jerlene Volkert
Ruby Jerlene Volkert, 75, of rural Route 1, Elizabethtown, died 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002.
Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Church of Christ in Elizabethtown with Eugene Pigg officiating. Burial will be in Dixon/Volkert cemetery in Elizabethtown. Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare. The body will be moved to the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday for services.

John Marion Frailey
John Marion Frailey, 74, of 123 N. Locust St., Manteno, died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at his residence after an extended illness.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, at the Church of Christ in Bourbonnais with Tom Tate officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Manteno. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Browns Funeral Home in Manteno.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lee Frailey; two sons; three daughters; a sister; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Robert N. Patton
Robert N. Patton, 95, of Junction, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with the Rev. Terry Hall officiating. Burial will be in Leavell Hill cemetery in Junction. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1906, in Gallatin County to the late Watson and Sarah Jane (Miles) Patton. On March 9, 1935, he married Beulah (Wiltshire) Patton, who survives.
Robert was a retired farmer. He was president of the Leavell Hill cemetery Association for many years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Pisgah General Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, the Rev. Robert (Carol) Patton of Junction, David (Marsha) Patton of Junction, Kenny (Carolyn) Patton of Equality; three daughters, Mary (Arthur) Heath Jr. of Shawneetown, Myrna (Rev. Leo) Hall of Norris City of Norris City, Sylvia McGrew of Granite City; a brother, Andrew Patton of Junction; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Patton, five brothers and a sister. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Leavell Hill cemetery in Mr. Patton's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Georgia Boatright
Georgia Boatright, 88, of Newburgh, Ind., formerly of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Newburgh.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Sunset Lawn cemetery with the Rev. Howard Scott officiating. There will be no visitation. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery. Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Sept. 23, 1913, in Harrisburg to George and Isabella (Gentry) Adkins. She married Frank Patterson, who died in 1967. She then married Raymond Boatright, who died in 1981.
She was a homemaker, a member of Harrisburg First Christian Church and was a Past Noble Grand of Rebekahs Lodge.
She is survived by a son, David Patterson of Indianapolis, Ind.; two granddaughters, Mrs. John (Gina) McBride of Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Kevin (Letitia) Clontz of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Sarah McBride, Jonathan McBride and Gage Clontz.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Woodland Convalescent Center in Newburgh, Ind., or the Vista Care Hospice in Evansville, Ind. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Roy Harold Fort
Roy Harold Fort, 83, of 203 W. Washington St., Carrier Mills, died 9:15 a.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
Services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating. Burial will be in Gilead cemetery. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Simpson to the late Roy and Mae (Marshall) Fort. On Feb. 2, 1941, he married the former Bonnie Harris, who preceded him in death on July 19, 1995.
He was a retired Sahara Coal miner.
He is survived by a daughter, Ella Jane (Gary) Van Meter of Morehead, Ky.; a granddaughter, Crystal (Tracy) Kirk of New Washington, Ind.; and a great-grandchild, Ava Jane Kirk.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Fort, and a brother, Robert Fort.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be made to the Gilead cemetery Fund in his memory.

Allan C. Smith
Allan C. Smith, 46, of Shawneetown, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at his residence after an extended illness.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown with the Rev. Jack Hall officiating. Burial will be in Antioch cemetery near Macedonia. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Clevenger Smith, a daughter, a sister, two brothers, and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Pearl Patton
Pearl Patton, 95, of McLeansboro, died 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Ron Trotter and the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the funeral home.

Phyllis Fisher
Phyllis Fisher, 63, of Route 3, Golconda (Temple Hill community), died 10:15 a.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville with the Rev. Floyd Stout officiating. Burial will be in Cole Springs cemetery in Temple Hill. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 28, 1939, in Pope County to the late Hale and Edith (Baker) Jennings. On June 6, 1958, she married Milton Fisher, who survives.
She was of the Methodist faith and graduated with the Pope County High School Class of 1957.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Carla (Eddie) Gurley of Golconda; two sons, Mickey (Kathy) Fisher of Broomfield, Colo. and Tony Fisher of Chandler, Ariz.; one brother, Don (Shirley) Jennings of Brookport; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

David Royce Douglas
David Royce Douglas, 71, of 903 W. Dorris St., Harrisburg, died 11:45 a.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
In honor of his wishes, his body was cremated. Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Masonic cemetery in Cave-in-Rock.
Family will receive friends 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church. Reed Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born May 1, 1931, in Cave-in-Rock to the late John A. and Dora (Garland) Douglas. On March 19, 1949, he married the former Mary Maxine Drumm, who survives.
He was a car salesman and a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen (Peggy) Douglas of McKinney, Texas, Royce Douglas of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Paula (Max) Beasley of Lytle, Texas; three brothers, Wayne (Roseann) Douglas of Atlanta, Ga., John (Ramona) Douglas of Westerville, Ohio, Dr. Jerry Douglas of Harrisburg; two sisters, LaDonna Conn of Nashville, Tenn., Marna (John) Heron of Estes Park, Colo.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy G. Douglas.
The family ask that flowers please be omitted and that donations be made to Dorrisville Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Lucille Nitz Hamby
Lucille Nitz Hamby, 95, of the Raleigh and Harrisburg area, died 12:55 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at Benton Healthcare Center in Benton.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Raleigh Masonic cemetery. There will be no visitation. Everyone should go directly to the cemetery. Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Oct. 23, 1906 in Chicago. She was the widow of Wayne Hamby.
She was retired from Western Electric Co. of Chicago for 39 years as a bookkeeper.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, George D. Jenkins Jr. of Michigan, and two nieces, Laura D. Jenkins Limberg of Maryville and Georgianna Jenkins Richey of Marion.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Dorris L. Hamby Jenkins.

Robert K. Nyberg
Robert K. Nyberg, of FairHope, Ala., who retired after 30 years of service from the Veterans Administration, died Sunday, April 14, at an area hospital.
He served during WWII (U.S. Army Air Corps) and was a U.S. Army Reservist for 30 years.

Shirley F. Cosby
Shirley F. Cosby, 73, of Creal Springs, died 10:05 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at Hill Top House in Creal Springs.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Cosby Funeral Home in Creal Springs with the Rev. Tim Blankenship and the Rev. Floyd Dorris officiating. Burial will be in Countyline cemetery in Creal Springs. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, James Cosby, a daughter, a brother, two sisters, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
