Pauline Carrara
A memorial service for the cremated remains of Mrs. Pauline Carrara, 94, of the Rosebud community, Golconda, Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at the Beaver cemetery in Donovan. The Rev. Bruce Salter will officiate.
Aly Funeral Home of Golconda is in charge of the arrangements.
Cora Wiley
Mrs. Cora Wiley, 83, of Carrier Mills, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998 at 7 p.m., in the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
Mrs. Wiley was born on Feb. 25, 1915 in Carrier Mills, to the late H.D. and Lucy (Bryant) Martin.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Tom Bailey of Springfield, and Linda and Jesse Mitchell of Carrier Mills; a daughter-in-law, Stacy Wiley of Algona, Wash.; two sisters, Thressa Sittig and Louise Blackburn, both of Missouri; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Clarence Osburn of Carrier Mills. She was preceded in death by a son, Leo Wiley, seven brothers, and three sisters.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Victor Long will officiate and burial will be in Salem cemetery in Carrier Mills.
Narlis A. 'Not' Hodge
Narlis A. "Not" Hodge, 68, of Equality, died at 3:35 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 1998 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born on April 24, 1930, in Repton, Ky., to the late James "Peck" and Trude (Dillard) Hodge.
He was a welder for construction.
Surviving are three daughters, Janel Brennan of Peoria, Narleen Owens of Jacksonville, and Carlta Hodge of Galatia; two sons, Jim H. Hodge of Versailles and Russell Hodge of Equality; a brother, Don Hodge of Shawneetown; a sister, Joyce Adrain Frailey of Shawneetown; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, G.D. Hodge and Delmar Hodge.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Vickery Funeral Home Shawneetown Chapel.
James Quinten Moore
James Quinten Moore, 69, of Eichorn, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at 1:48 a.m. in Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Moore; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Jim Rajamaki and Teresa and Terry Golden, all of Herod; and Leona and Jack Hunt, of Golconda; a sister, Mrs. Lowell (Betty) Joiner of Herod; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pleas and Bertha (Davis) Moore, two brothers, Garland Moore and Weldon Moore, two sisters, Jewell Cowsert and Ruby Moore, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Hunt.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hosick Funeral Home Chapel in Rosiclare, where visitation was held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Carroll Collins and the Rev. Tony Wayne Harris officiated. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post No. 571.
Mary A. Webber
Mrs. Mary A. Webber, 92, of Galatia, died at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 1998 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Galatia.
She was a former Raleigh resident and the widow of the late Bennett Webber. They were married
on Sept. 23, 1922, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1965.
Mrs. Webber was born in Saline County on Feb. 14, 1906, to the late Charley and Sarah (Kittinger) Gunter.
She was a member of Raleigh First Baptist Church and the Galatia Rebekah Lodge.
She was employed as a cook and aide for the State of Illinois and was a telephone operator in Raleigh and Galatia for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Frankie Karnes of Galatia; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, Archie L. Webber, Billy G. Webber, and Bobby D. Webber, and a daughter, Shirley I. Corn.
Services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, where visitation was held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Ernest Bradley and the Rev. Scott Johnson officiated. Burial was in Raleigh Masonic cemetery.
Bonnie R. Garrett
Mrs. Bonnie R. Garrett, 57, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Eldorado, died at the Regency Place Health Care in Greenwood, Ind. on Friday, Sept. 18, 1998.
She married
the Rev. Jesse R. Garrett on June 28, 1964 in Eldorado. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Eric R. Garrett of Brazil, Ind.; a daughter, Aimee R. Woodruff of Greenvood, Ind.; a sister, Zelda Fike of Egg Harbor, N.J.; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Garrett was born on Dec. 28, 1940, in Eldorado, to the late Roy and Syble (Yahne) Passmore.
She was a member of Eldorado Gospel Assembly Church and a 1958 graduate of Eldorado High School.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Gospel Assembly Church. Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery in Eldorado.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Greenwood Chapel in Greenwood.
J. C. Nelson
J. C. Nelson, 71, of 621 W. Charleston St., Harrisburg, died at 3:18 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was a retired mechanic and a World War II Army veteran.
Mr. Nelson was born in Eddyville, Ky. on Jan. 30, 1927, to the late Alfred and Melissa Breshears Nelson.
On Dec. 31, 1954, he married
the former Thelma Hayes. She survives along with a son, Steven Nelson, and a daughter, Cheryl Nelson, both of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Nelson.
Graveside services preceded burial at 1 p.m. Monday at Lindale cemetery at Eldorado. The Rev. G.E. Coultas officiated.
There was no visitation at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Thelma Dee Stone
Mrs. Thelma Dee Stone, 87, of 1207 Largent St. Harrisburg, died at 1:10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 1999 at her home. She was born on April 8, 1912, in Island, Ky., to the late John D. and Bessie O'Neil.
Mrs. Stone was a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church.
On Oct. 30, 1929, she married
Willie Stone. He preceded her in death on March of 1983.
Surviving are seven daughters, Alberta Wright of Harrisburg, Wanda Reed of Marion, June Winkleman of Beaver Dam, Ky., Naomi Rogers of Creal Springs, Ann Hinant, Kay Owens, Cindy Messamore, all of Harrisburg; two sons, Bill Stone Jr. of Annandale, Va. and Bobby Stone of Carrier Mills; a brother, John Penrod of Ledford; a sister, Lillie Killman of Johnston City; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Stone, three sisters, Eula Thorp, Katie Padgett and Eva Stone, four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Reed Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Mark Haumschilt will officiate and burial will be in Liberty cemetery at Harrisburg.
Kathren Stout
Mrs. Kathren Stout, 78, of 801 Sahara St., Harrisburg, died at 9:56 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 1999 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born on July 6, 1921 in Eldorado, to the late Louis and Elsie (Surguy) Dalton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Stout on Feb . 21, 1990.
Funeral services are pending at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Cecil Griffin
Cecil Griffin, 81, died at his home in St. Louis, Mo. He was the son of the late Dave and Irene (Cross) Griffin.
Surviving are three daughters, Darlene Bell of St. Louis, Mo., Gwen Parks of Trumbull, Conn. and Charlene Williams of Philadelphia, Pa.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elenor Bell of Cleveland, Ohio and Margaret Smith of Carrier Mills; three brothers, Leo Griffin of Chicago, Theopolis Lewis Griffin of Dayton, Ohio and David D. Griffin of Carrier Mills; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Mae Rouse, Theda Duncan and Etta Lord.
Services will be held Monday, July 19 at the Austin Layne Funeral Home, 7239 Crest Florissant St. Louis, Mo. Burial will be in Arlington cemetery in St. Louis.
