Ransom Milligan
Ransom Milligan, 82, of Rosiclare died at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2000 at Rosiclare Healthcare Center in Rosiclare.
Mr. Milligan attended the Apostolic Church and was active in the community.
He is survived by his brother, Henry Milligan of Eldorado; and six grandchildren, John Milligan of Douglas, Wy., Paula Owens of Harrisburg, Stephanie Kiefer of Marion, Leighann Decker of Elizabethtown, Sheri Landwehr of Bloomingdale, and Derrick Landwebr of Bloomingdale; a sister-in-law, Charlena and husband, Weldon Hobbs of Rosiclare; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Lee Milligan; his parents, John and Jennie Milligan; two sons, Dale and Eugene Milligan; three brothers, Oscar, Otis and Wayne Milligan; and two sisters, Opal Cowsert and Ruby Hudlow.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. today at Hosick Funeral Chapel in Rosiclare, with the Rev. Lowell Gowins and the Rev. Glen Hicks officiating. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial is in Fluorine cemetery in Rosiclare.
Reatha Wayland
Reatha Wayland, 50, of Golconda, died at 4:19 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
She is survived by her mother, Esther M. Driver of Golconda; two daughters, Tammy D. Nicholson and Victoria L. Bone of Golconda; one son, Mark A. Wayland of Golconda; three brothers, Fred W. Davidson of Eddyville, Ky., Douglas W. Davidson of Paducah, Ky., Hollice J. Davidson of Eddyville, Ky.; three sisters, Nellie Smith of Grand Rivers, Ky., Velvie Enik of Golconda and Linda Jenson of Brookport; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Carroll Wayland and her father, Douglas Davidson.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Sunday, June 11 at Rottman Chapel of Hosick Funeral Home in Golconda, with the Rev. Joe Nagalski officiating. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Rottman Chapel. Burial is in Independent cemetery in Golconda.
Juanita Smock
Juanita Smock, 83, of the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg died at 5:53 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Mrs. Smock was a nurse's aid for 30 years, before her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Smock of the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg; one daughter, Glenda Williams of Front Royal, Va.; two sons, Howard Smock of Rosiclare and Roger Dale Smock of Front Royal, Va.; one brother, Dale Cullison of Golconda; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Pearl (Frailey) Cullison; and four brothers, Harvey Cullison, Lebun Cullison, Elbun Cullison and James Otto Cullison.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11 at the Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare, with the Rev. Bud Hicks officiating. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial is in Mt. Zion cemetery in Cave-in-Rock.
Doyle G. Davis
Doyle G. Davis, 66, died Thursday, June 8, 2000 in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born Sept. 20, 1933 in Saline County to the late Gwin and Mabel Davis. Mr. Davis graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1951.
He married
Betty Dunning Aug. 8, 1953. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by three daughters, Patty and husband, Richard Weirmiester, Karen and husband, Ken Marcus, and Holly and husband, Steve Knott; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of the Phoenix area. Also surviving are two sisters and one brother, Maxine Belt and Gwin Davis of Harrisburg, and Shirley Borders of Washington.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Leon Davis.
A memorial service in Phoenix will be announced at a later date.
Sharon Trammell
Sharon Trammell, 48, of 22784 Pleasant Valley Road, Creal Springs, died at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000, at her home.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the Walnut Grove Baptist Church near New Burnside. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills and Sunday after 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Trammell cemetery in Stonefort. The Rev. Gordon Smith and the Rev. George Ritter will officiate.
Jim Earl Price
Jim Earl Price, 57, of Eldorado, died 3:40 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000, at his residence.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11 at Cottage Grove cemetery with the Rev. Buddy Peyton and the Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado.

Wymand 'Jack' Brooks
Wymand "Jack" Brooks, 87, of 3540 Illinois State Route 145 South in Harrisburg, died at 1:50 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2000, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home in Carrier Mills.
He was born Aug. 12, 1912 in Beech Creek, Ky. to Charlie Wilson and S. Nadine (Tanner) Brooks.
Mr. Brooks was a retired livestock farmer. He had previously worked as a rail roader for New York Central Railroad up until 1962. He was a member of Saline Ridge Baptist Church, where he was Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for 20+ years.
He married
Elverta "Lorene" Gott on Dec. 12, 1922 in McLeansboro.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Brooks of Harrisburg; a daughter, Carla N. and husband, Lonny Reed of Harrisburg; a sister, Clarice and husband, James Bratcher of Carmi; one granddaughter, Brianna Reed of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Public graveside services are 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2000 at Lindale cemetery in Eldorado, with the Rev. Leroy Hicks officiating. Memorials may be made to the Saline Ridge Baptist Church or to the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
Stephen L. Ewell
Stephen L. Ewell, 49, of Mt. Vernon died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis after a prolonged illness. A memorial service is set for 5 p.m. today, June 10, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.

Violet May Holland
Violet May Holland, 83, of Hastings, Mich., and formerly of McLeansboro and Harrisburg, died 12:02 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. today, June 10, 2000, at Elmwood cemetery in Equality with the Rev. Paul Brown officiating. Those attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Emily Childs
Emily Childs, 84, of the Harco community, died 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2000, at her residence. She was born Nov. 23, 1915, in Harriman, Tenn., to George and Ona (Haney) Proper.
She married
John Childs Feb. 24, 1947. He preceded her in death June 10, 1997.
She was a charter member of the Harrisburg Lioness Club, a member of the Harrisburg Heartland Lions Club and a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 167 of Harrisburg.
She also was a housewife.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Sivok of Harco and Nellie Childs of Eldorado; two grandchildren, Lucky Sivok and Mandy Frailey; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Frailey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Howard Proper and Buster Proper and three sisters, Cecil Gamble, Florence Marlow and Gladys Proper.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Sloan Funeral Home with the Rev. Art Donley officiating.
Burial will be in Brushy cemetery.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the family and will be received at the funeral home.
Fred L. Tanner
Fred L. Tanner, 84, of 265 Tanner Rd. in Harrisburg died 1:06 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
He was born July 29, 1915, to Harvey and Carrie (Parks) Tanner.
On Jan. 4, 1941, he married
Mary E. Jackson. She survives.
Mr. Tanner was a member of the McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. In the past, he had been active as a deacon of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of the Saline County Farm Bureau Board, serving as the Independence Township representative. He also served several times on the ASCS Board in Saline County.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Dr. James F. Tanner and wife, Sharon L. of Harrisburg; two brothers, J.R. Tanner and Walter Tanner, both of Harrisburg; one grandson, James Bradley Tanner and wife, Billie Dawn of Harrisburg; one granddaughter, Heather and husband, Charles Lee of Knoxville, Tenn.; and one great-grandson, Austin James Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Susan Vogal; and one brother, Guy Tanner.
Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 22 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Fox and the Rev. Harold Williams officiating.
Burial is in Lindale cemetery in Eldorado.
The family requests flowers be omitted and donation be made to McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.
